Husband and I went to exchange a YETI cup, cashier treated us very poorly from the moment we entered the store. She was rude and cut me off when trying to speak to pick the cup I wanted in exchange. Not only that but she was arguing with me about me calling the cup "YETI w/a straw," she said it was not a straw cup, it was a "sippy cup" she wanted to prove herself right and showed me a YETI rambler with a straw lid and said "this is a YETI with a straw." I am young but I am not ignorant. As a brown person, my biggest concern is that I can stand for myself, but not all of us and that makes my blood boil. Please do not be inconsiderate & racist. ACE is a great store but that is not acceptable. Do something about how you treat your customers especially those that don't look like you! ‍ No names, you know who you are. Be better read more

With Ace Hardware, it's a 50/50 shot when it comes to finding an employee with product knowledge. This remains consistent with the various Ace locations. Roughly half of the employees at each location knows what they have and where to find it. Additionally, these employees can steer you in the right direction 100 percent of the time and you always leave the store with exactly what you need. They are also the employees who seek you out as you enter the store and rather than point you to the area of your search they take you right to the item you are seeking. These men and woman are to be commended for their excellent customer service and their individual commitment to providing such superb service. These employees deserve 5 stars and more. read more

The charm of an Ace Hardware are the people and personalize touch they offer. I would accept slightly higher prices than the big box stores for a friendly smile. This store is not pet friendly. There is an announcement "Dog in the store" when you enter with a dog. Then a warning from the cashier that "the house cat is not friendly and keep you dog away."Furthermore, I have shopped here for over 12 years. Over the last four years the grumpy cashier rarely greets me with a hello. Home Depot is a 20 to 30 minute drive north. Home Depot is pet friendly to both dogs and cats, the prices are lower and the cashier always says hello. read more

This is a great hardware store, located on the south end of town. They have almost everything you might need and the service is consistently outstanding. The employees actually know what they are talking about (unlike most Home Depot employees). Ace costs a little more than the big box hardware stores, but the service more than makes up for it. You can get what you need and get in and out quickly. That's my kind of hardware store! They also have a rewards program that results in $5 gift certificates appearing in my mailbox every once in a while. It's not much, but it's a nice little bonus. read more

First let me say that this store, while a little pricey compared to the big box stores, is super convenient for those of us on the south end of town and has a good selection of often needed items. In the past, I always found the people working the floor and behind the counter to be super friendly and helpful. Something has changed though. There seems to have been a staff turnover of sorts and the vibe now is very grumpy. The cats are still friendly though. read more

We go to this particular Ace quite a bit (well we did.). Went in this morning and we could not believe how they treated us. Asked if we needed help, said no we knew what we were getting, then while browsing we were not only followed but repeatedly asked if we needed help. when we left both of us (wife and I) said wow felt like they thought we were there to shoplift. This ACE is awesome! For real, if you need any kind of hardware at all this place has it, they have the best selection period. They have just about any "A" item thing you need and they know where to find it quickly. The bad reviews here seem to be from stupid people that bought the wrong thing and expect ACE to just take the hit for it, suck it up people. read more

I came into the Crown Ace last week in search of a key to fit my motorcycle. They did not have one but a very nice sales guy told me to find a blank, come back and they would cut it for me. No problem, I went out and got a blank. Today I went into Ace to have the key cut. The sales guy was helping me when someone, I can only assume he was in some sort of management position as he never bothered to introduce himself, told the sales person there is a policy that the store doesn't cut blanks that were not purchased in the store. When I pointed out the sales staff had told me to find a blank, come back, and they would help me, he was only interested in finding out who told me this. So, a staff member forgot a policy, not the end of the world. However, the self important management person, decided rather than making a happy customer by taking care of the small situation, chose to send me out the door to another business. Horrible customer service!!! He maintained policy, but lost a sale and a customer...poor trade in my view. read more

Edit: I upped to 4 stars. The bad experience in last paragraph has not been repeated. I go to Crown Ace a couple of times a month, and have found a couple of "go to" guys who are usually helpful, and sometimes knowledgeable. Fairly often I know what I want and just go get it. Sometimes I have half an idea, and need a pro who has "done that a million times". It's great when I get real help. May 2013: Not my favorite store, but usually ok. Some of the staff are surly or don't know their stuff. Others are excellent. Some visits are better than others, and I like to get in, select stuff, and have the always-pleasant lasses check me out. Today's visit was the worst. My bride stopped for me to pick up a pair each of 2x4 and 2x6. It's warm today, but under 100, and the guy groused about getting the lumber for her, especially when she asked for good ones, not the crap on top of the stack. He kept grousing about it being hot, like he was a sissyboy, but this guy was nearly 50. He managed to load it in her car without destroying the interior, so I am not standing on the owner's desk. I may call the store manager and suggest an attitude adjustment for the whiny knuckle dragger. read more

Warning if you are allergic to cats avoid this store. The cats crawl all over the counters and registers. I was sick for 3 days after running inside to buy something real quick and my face swelled up before I could get out of store. There was a cat on register counter. I was told by an employee cats were born and raised in store and I could always shop somewhere else. I thought it was a hardware store not a pet store. read more

This is one of my favorite hardware stores. Matt, the store manager, and his staff are very helpful and polite. There is always someone there to help you. They are very knowledgeable, and go above and beyond to meet your needs. This is also based on my own experience of always using store for all my small and large needs. read more

The problem with Ace Hardware is that you can buy a defective product at their store while traveling and then try to return it to another Ace Hardware. They can refuse to refund your money and suggest you take it back to the original store. No more Ace Hardware for me. I'll go to Home Depot or Lowe's. read more
