Even the coleslaw and tartar sauce were made with care. The servers hustle like crazy. They treat you like good friends. Some diners may have frowned on service. Those girls never stopped, and they smiled and laughed. (Who doesn't need that these days?) It's sea scallop season, so even those scallops are expensive I had to do it. The scallop dinner w/fries and onion strings was a bit over $35, but there were 14 huge, right off the boat succulent scallops. The burgers also looked great. Get on over there.

**Classic local watering hole with solid food and atmosphere**…read more The Chote Pub is definitely a neighborhood spot through and through. You can tell the regulars get priority attention from the bartenders, but we eventually got taken care of too - just be prepared to be patient if it's busy and you're a new face. The food was good with very generous portions that definitely give you your money's worth. Drinks were well-made and hit the spot. We loved the setup for watching football - great views of the games from multiple angles around the bar. **Important heads-up: This is a CASH ONLY establishment.** Make sure you stop at an ATM before you arrive, or you'll be making a quick exit to find one. The vibe here is very much old-school local pub - if that's your scene, you'll love it. If you're looking for something more polished or trendy, this might not be your spot. We enjoyed the unpretentious atmosphere and will likely be back, but it's definitely worth knowing what you're walking into first. Bottom line: Come for honest pub fare, generous portions, cold drinks, and a genuine local experience. Just bring cash!

The staff are friendly and the servers knowledgeable and efficient. The hostess had trouble finding our reservation (my companion was already seated) but it seemed to be quite busy that Friday night. The restaurant consists of quite a few separate rooms and we were seated in one that was not too crowded. (I walked through the bar on my way in and that was hopping.) I had a glass of sauvignon blanc and after studying the menu and consulting our server my companion and I both went for a burger. There was no problem with my swapping out the french fries for onion rings (points there!). The burgers were done exactly to our liking (mine mediume rare, hers medium well). I should have turned down dessert, I was that full, but my companion was willing so we went for it. There was a good selection of typical New England desserts and we finally settled on a blueberry crisp topped with vanilla ice cream which was good but not great (not sure I can put my finger on why, so it may be that I was too full to enjoy it). There is a parking lot although it is not paved so was not fun walking through at the end of a day when it clearly had rained. It also could use some lighting. This is a wonderful restaurant suitable for a special occasion or an ordinary night out. I will definitely be back.

They should've offered us another room but they didn't. My meal the encrusted tuna was very good, my granddaughter's Ipswich clams were a bit chewy, and the special Pork Marsala was inedible as the pork was like shoe leather. Our waitress gave my husband clam chowder instead..She was sincerely trying..The Hart House is pricey but they have lost our business due to lack of customer appreciation and quality of food served.. feel badly about that.

Brett offered warm rolls to finish up the sauce....creamy and lemony. The 3 of us all got variations of burgers. All cooked and prepared perfectly. If she cracked a smile her face would have cracked! Just miserable. Took drink order and said she'd be back with bread. Brought drinks and took our orders. 20 minutes later food came and she asked if we wanted bread! Duh! Daughter ordered chicken parm with angel hair, and she took one bite of the pasta and sauce and said "Mom, i cant eat this." I tasted it and couldn't believe how awful it tasted...watery, bitter and way over-salted. I had the fish tacos...they were the most bland things I've ever eaten. If I wasn't so famished I wouldn't have bothered eating them. My husband played it safe with baked haddock fries and broccoli. Fish was ok, broccoli was not cooked and he couldn't even cut it with a knife. Our waitress never once checked in on us and we had to flag her down for another round of drinks as she was loitering around the kitchen door! Whoever is in charge of the waitstaff needs to step it up. Bad service, bad food, overall bad experience. Never will eat there again. Miss the original owners, this would have never happened under their watch.
