I've been craving a hot dog for what seems like an eternity and TBH I wasn't going to allow myself to resort to 7-11 quality. Alas, Crown Burger did the fix and the trick! Had the Kids Hot Dog meal which also comes with small fries, fry sauce, and a small beverage. A quick easy meal at an affordable price. Everything was very fresh and tasted amazing. Crown Burgers use to have the best charbroiled burgers. The Crown Burger, use to be so good. There was no burger that could compare. Not so much anymore. The pastrami doesn't have much flavor and the hamburger doesn't seem to be high quality beef. I have to ask myself, it the Crown Burger really worth $9.39 or Jr Crown Burger for $8.39? It has lots of ground cartilage or hard unknown things in with the beef. But this is t reflected in the high prices. $3.99 for fries that are most of the time warm or cold. Amazingly fast and friendly service. We were in line and out of there in less than 10 minutes maybe around 5 minutes. Even though it was fast the burger was not slapped together. I have been dreaming of Crown Burger for years and finally moved back to an area with a Crown Burger. I have to say the pastrami is out of this world delicious, beautifully marveled and seasoned to perfection. The burger itself leaves a lot to be desired, I feel like the quality isn't what it used to be but it's still better than a lot of burgers out there. The melty cheese and the pastrami are really the stars of the show. I can't speak on their fries because I just got a Double Crown Burger but I most likely will be back if I'm close by but I don't think it's a go out of my way for it spot anymore which is sad but the nostalgia still makes this one of the greater burgers around. read more

I've been a loyal customer at Crown Burger in Layton for nearly five years. Their burgers are always delicious, I love the fries, the service is usually friendly, and the ambience inside is great. I've always trusted this location, which makes today's visit especially disappointing. On August 21, 2025, my friends and I went through the drive-through. I ordered for four people and made it very clear that the burgers have no onions at all because one person in the car has an onion allergy. This wasn't just a preference , it was a health concern. We also ordered fries and a halibut meal. The wait in line was normal for dinner rush, and that part was fine. When we got home and opened the bags, every single burger except for the chili cheeseburger had onions on it. On top of that, only one order of fries was in the bag, and the halibut was cold. Having to scrape off onions from a burger when someone has an allergy is unacceptable, and it completely ruined the meal for that person. The only reason I didn't give a lower rating is because this has always been a reliable place for me, and I know they can do better. But this experience left me disappointed, and moving forward I'll be checking my order before leaving the drive-through to make sure something this serious doesn't happen again. read more

First timer, we got a variety of things but ended up getting a oic of the double souvlaki. That was pretty great and very generous servings. Onion rings were outstanding, hand battered and giant. Chicken gyro and reg gyro were both large and delicious. Crown burger with the pastrami was so heavy that I could only eat half before throwing in the towel. Salads for sides were fresh but we didn't love their version of Greek dressing, Son had sweet potato fries and they were decent. Just had the first bad experience I have ever had with a Crown Burgers Restaurant. I ordered a Crown Jr and fries. I was excited to place a good review on a location my family and I have gone out of our way to eat at. I took a picture of the burger, then went to take a bite. It was COLD! I am not talking about cooled off sitting on the counter cold, I am talking about the pastrami had to have just been pulled out of the cooler cold. I knew who the owner was, so I approached him about it. He actually took my burger from me and placed it in the microwave oven. I was so floored when he handed it back to me, "fresh" from the microwave, that I didn't raise a fuss. I have been disappointed with the change they made to their fry sauce ( I used to think it the best tasting of all the locations). And I never complained about paying more for their food. Until now. I can't say as that I will go out of my way to go to this location again. My wife prefers the fry sauce at the location at at 2nd S 4th E in SLC anyway, so maybe we will go out of our way to go there more. read more

Super busy parking lot (had to park next door and walk over). Very friendly service all around. Ordered the vegetarian garden burger, fries, onion rings, Greek salad, vanilla shake, & Oreo shake to go. Everything tasted delicious. There were lots of empty tables & there was enough room to stand and wait for my order. Good service and huge burgers. One of my coworkers raved about this place and told us we absolutely had to get this while we were in Utah. I got the staple crown burger and it was packed with pastrami. While I love pastrami, I feel like it was missing something. Maybe crispy fried onion. I dont know. Crown Burger is awesome and ran so well. If you've never tried their ribeye steak sandwich before you really should. Piled high with a stack of lettuce for crunch and tomatoes if you like them. A little mayonnaise to top it off, so good. The steak is so big they usually double it up. I asked for medium and it was overcooked today, well done, usually at medium the juices are dripping off the steak. I'm going to keep it at five stars because they usually always get it My wife likes the Jr Bacon cheeseburger, one of the top three best hamburgers in the state. I knew this was a popular chain in Utah, so I had to check this out. The one in Layton was huge on the inside as they have a large dining area. There were several people working in the back, the most I've seen at a place since before Covid! Which is a good thing - it kind of destroys the myth that "people don't wanna work". As for the food, I got the signature Crown burger with pastrami and a few other stuff on top. Fries with cheese and chili and sodie. It goes without saying, I overdid it. But I usually do when I visit places I can't go to at home. Glad I did. Next time I'm in the Salt Lake City area, would go back. Recommend! read more

I already wrote a review on Crown but like many others, yelp seems to lose reviews all the time. So I'll do it again but with fewer details. First, yes it's more expensive than typical fast food, but it's not typical fast food. When I went here last I had brought some family members who kept complaining that they had better food elsewhere and kept comparing it to stake house burgers or they would complain that it cost more than some fast food chains but those chains' quality is nowhere near the quality of Crown. I wish people would consider businesses within their realm or channel. I don't see why everyone always wants to compare low-end to high-end or compare a $1000 bag to a $25 dollar one as if they are in the same class and comparable then complain about how cheap the $25 bag is. Crown is sort of in its own nitch, one that is common in other states. Having grown up in Southern California I grew up with lots of local burgers and pastrami joints that were nearly the same thing. A bit more expensive than fast food and much better. A bit less expensive that a casual sit-down restaurant and a little less service and pomp for the lower price. Crown is in the middle and so are its prices. If you want two cheeseburgers for $2 dollars this isn't the place and those $2 dollar burgers suck. And it's not a $25 dollar burger at a nice steak house where fries cost another $15 and the drink $10 on top of that served up by an old guy in a butler's suit. Crown is a mid-grade burger and pastrami shop like you find all over LA. And the prices are about the same. And like the Souther California burger joints, it's not trying to compete with anyone above or below their pay grade. The pastrami is not the kind you'll find at Katz in NYC, it's the kind you find all over So. Cal. and beyond. And it's exactly what I want it to be. Not too fancy, not to chain store sameness. It's fun to watch the way they do their business. If you are a curious person you can pick up all the little things they do that are unique to them. A burger place with artwork and decorations you'd find in someone's living room. A large fireplace and seating that's like you'd see visiting grandma's house in the suburbs. They take your order while one person key's it in and someone standing next to them walks the order to the cook line. You can stand back and watch all that happens and watch the food being made. They have a few more drink selections and pretty good milkshakes. They have more sauce choices than fast food chains and both potato fries and sweet potato fries. Many places in the West don't know how to make sweet potato fries correctly the way they are made in the South. Crown gets that right too. Growing up I would save up paper route money so I could ride my bike to the corner greek burger joint to get a pastrami sandwich. Salty rich pastrami, tart dill pickles, and mustard on a semi-soft Italian roll. I have lived all over the US and had a lot of great burgers and pastrami but I miss the way it's done in CA. I've eaten at this location many times over the years since it is the closest to my home. I cannot think of a time that I've arrived and it has not been very busy. There is no shortage of popularity at all the Crown Burger locations in Utah. As of late, I've typically ordered through the drive-thru, but on my last visit, I tried to beat the huge line of cars and parked in the last parking spot and walked inside to get a to-go order. They have several ordering cashiers available and I was able to walk right up to one and place my order. They gave me a number and I stood off to the side to wait while trying to avoid the other customers crowding toward the counter to place their orders or pick up their food. I've been on a chicken sandwich quest lately, and I ordered their breaded chicken sandwich with a side of fries. The sandwich didn't look to great upon opening up with wrapping, however, the taste was still good. The chicken was moist and cooked well. The sandwich came with a sesame seed bun, lettuce, and mayo. The lettuce was nice and crisp, and the chicken had a good flavor. The fries were good, but not too hot after driving them home before eating them. They could have used a bit more salt for extra flavor. I also made sure to get some of the fry sauce staple for the fries also. I'm sure that I will continue to frequent this location and am glad they hit the mark on this visit. read more

Crown burgers in Layton offers great gyro and fries option. Keeps us coming back for more. Most people seem to come for their pastrami burger, but I'm all about the chicken gyro with extra tzatziki sauce. What takes away from the experience is when going thru the drive thru, sometimes the order is wrong so be sure to check it before driving off. The other thing that can get under one's skin is getting attitude from some of the workers when you ask to double check your order. I want to like this place, I really do. It's certainly clean and the staff is friendly and the food is good - all +'s. But, when compared to its counter, Apollo Burger- the old, greasy one in North Salt Lake, it comes up short. The menu selection isn't as good at Crown and something about the gut bombs that Apollo Burger delivers compensates for the misses and ties everything else together. I love trying regional burger chains, and Crown Burgers went straight up to my top five, maybe even top three with In N Out & Shake Shack. Our burgers were well seasoned, had great grill flavor, are juicy even with a jr. patty size. Shredduse was fresh, well portioned. Tomato was there just to add moisture, not a lot of flavor, the way a good burger needs. Burger sauce was straightforward compliment to the beef. Love the novelty of the pastrami on the burger, which genuinely works, though the bacon cheeseburger would be my regular if I lived in the area. Highly recommend to anyone out there who knows what a traditional American diner burger is, and seeks them out. read more

This place reminds of me the hole in the wall burger spots in Los Angeles, where pastrami burgers and chili cheese fries are popular. The fry sauce is delicious and reminded me of Thousand Island sauce at Dinos in Los Angeles. The restaurant might seem packed, but there is always seating whenever I dined in. I've heard good things about the restaurant, but didn't experience most of those things. I was surprised that it is an order-at-the-front-counter restaurant, with a fast food vibe that is not particularly pleasant. The offerings are fairly wide, so we tried a mushroom burger with fries and a chicken gyro with salad and rice. The fries were probably better than everything else, and they were very good, but not great. The portions were large, although the chicken was lukewarm and dry in the gyro, and the tzatziki sauce was not very zingy or fresh tasting. The Greek rice was edible, but blah, and the salad, and really the whole dish, were uninspired. The mushrooms on the mushroom burger were from a can- yuk. You can't use canned mushrooms on a mushroom burger. They taste terrible and are the signature flavor. There must be better food and ambiance in this large metropolitan area. read more
