For some reason, SLC is the home of pastrami burger. There's Astro Burgers (excellent), Apollo Burgers (also excellent), and Olympus Burger (so-so). The best, however, is Crown Burgers. They carve the pastrami right off the spit, their burger quality is excellent and perfectly charred. I get the 1/4 pound, aptly named Crown Burger, almost every time. Not to sound like a Mickey-Ds commercial, but it's Thousand Island dressing, lettuce, tomato, onions, cheddar cheese, and pastrami on a sesame-seed bun. The fries are golden, crispy, but not greasy. Out-of-towners, dip them in Crown's homemade fry sauce...trust me! A Greek family owns it, so they also make great Gyros and souvlaki. Their grilled cheese is also surprisingly awesome. I love everything about Crown Burgers. Burger King should abdicate their throne...I've got your Crown right here! read more

It may be my fault because I got a gyro instead of a burger, but I was definitely not impressed. Though hot and fresh, the prices were pretty crazy for the quality of food, and the tzatziki sauce was mildly sweet (WHYYY). Very strange layout and decor, though the service was very friendly and prompt and the restaurant was clean. If it was just cheapo fast food, I'd give it more of a pass, but it's not. If I'm gonna spend in the $8-12 range on an entree, I'd prefer to get my money's worth and hit up something like Five Guys or Smashburger where the quality comes closer to matching the cost. read more

Crown Burger Virgins! A co-worker and I went to Crown Burger today for lunch. Neither of us had ever been to Crown Burger before so we weren't sure what to expect. The service: We went at the peak of the lunch rush and we waited for less than 5 minutes to order and receive our food. Even though there was a line, it moved really fast. The food: I just don't understand why people eat at the big burger chains when they can come here and get real meat and real cheese for the same price. The bacon on my bacon cheeseburger was thick and really good! This location has quite a bit of seating so even during the lunch rush, it was not hard to find a place to sit. We order Burgers for a family of five as well as chili cheese fries extra well done and everything was delicious it was greasy but that is what we expected going to Crown burgers and we really enjoyed our food. We definitely will be going there again. For more less greasy burger I'd go with the habit. But the portion size of these burgers are huge and very filling. read more

It's an interesting idea--pile a bunch of pastrami on top of a cheeseburger. The end result is good, but not great. Unfortunately both meats were a bit over-cooked and dry. The "cheese" is some kind of generic processed food stuff that isn't all that great. Fries were good, and service was quick and friendly. So it's decent, just not great. read more

So I don't get this. We do restaurants put people who do t speak English well, at the drive through window. I go through the drive-thru, slower than crud. I get up and see and the hispanic chick that I couldn't understand. She tells me to go park in the parking lot.. she was talking so fast that I couldn't understand her. I had to ask her to slow down. I asked her where she would like me to park, and she said doesn't matter just go park in the parking lot. Well the parking lot is full. They have to designated stalls and they're both full. I can see at least four other people waiting for their food. This is the most ridiculous process in the world. Need a good laugh, go park in the parking lot and watch workers going from car to car giving out food. You could actually get some free food that way. read more

From OKC and wanted to try something that was the epitome of Utah and I was pointed to Pastrami Burgers from Crown Burgers. I was also curious what is unique about "fry sauce." Burger was moist and delicious. I never doubted pastrami being excellent on a burger. The flame broil reminded me of Burger King, then I realized I am at Crown Burger so I am curious if this is a McDougal's situation (may the reader who has come to America understand). Fry sauce I can see why people say love it or hate it. It is good, back home we have a similar sauce at a chain restaurant called Raising Caine's. This sauce is more vinegary and less peppery than the Caine Sauce. Still it was great on the burger! read more

You gotta love the Crown Burger--with pastrami and bacon. Add some cheese to it and it's perfection wrapped in waxed paper! The fries state better than the onion rings. Gotta dip them in the fry sauce. This burger place is a salt lake country staple for burger buffs. Go in hungry and come out stuffed and happy. I recommend this place above most others. We ordered a Crown Burger (Pastrami on a burger), a beef dip, and fries with fry sauce. We liked the Crown Burger better than the Beef Dip. The beef dip was huge but the flavor tasted more like pot roast than a beef dip. The meat was good quality and not gristly at all. If I went back I would have gotten a Crown Burger instead. The Crown Burger was delicious. The fries and fry sauce are amazing. We should have ordered more of those. read more

Stopped in to try the Crown Burger after hearing many great things. The decoration in this location was extremely unexpected...not sure if they are all like this. Need to go to town and check that out some time. I have to say, they have one of the more interesting menus for what I was expecting to be a full on fast food restaurant. Check out the menu before you go, I was a bit overwhelmed...but stuck with my original plans. The Crown Burger was OK...I think i was expecting more. Might have just been that it was very slow so the food was not being sent through quickly and they were off their game. They had 10~12 people back behind the counter, so I have to assume they get busy at some point. A large group came through after us with a massive order, and they got it out quickly enough. Seating area had a nice area where you can put together a bunch of tables. Burger and fries came out hot and decently tasty. Didn't live up to my expectations but I guess I was to excited about having pastrami and fry sauce on my burger. Will give them another try, possibly one of the ones closer to downtown Salt Lake next time. read more

Yes, I know this is a fast food place, but honestly they were really good. The service was good and the food wins my little heart. I honestly didn't really know what to expect eating inside this place but it was quite good. I liked their fry sauce and I loved the fact that they had so many opinions. I decided to go with a grilled ham and cheese with cheese fries. If you haven't noticed I'm a big fan on cheese, but it was amazing! The cheese was so amazing and the fries are perfect. I don't like the small thin fries, but these fries were just perfect. So I'm happy about that. On a side note : it was good timing, tasted good and decent portions. I will be back ! read more

Came here for lunch. I Ordered the Jr. Bacon cheese burger and oreo shake. Definetly one of the best burger joints I've been too in a while. I eat a lot at In-N-Out burgers and this by far was 2x better. The shakes are super thick and the bacon was the best thing on the burger. Fries were hot and salted just right. I was going to take a picture but I was so hungry and the food was so good it was gone in minutes. Definetly going back when I find time. :) read more

Atmosphere and layout is sadly more like a cafeteria, with wide open spaces and uniform rows of seating jammed together to maximize turnover during busy periods. And this place is busy. Packed. First let me say that I usually love this place and it's food. However, this is the second time I have been disappointed. I bought a Crown burger which is my normal purchase. The hamburger was brunt and the what little pastrami there was....was very bland. The whole burger looked like it was slapped together. On top of that I notice that price of the combo meal went up again ....the 3rd time this year. I can understand the price increase but can't handle the lack of quality. Maybe the owners need to monitor the quaint control a bit more. I hate to write this but it was very disappointing and I have supported them for years. read more
