The only other positive as far as memory care is concerned was Asuka. She was extremely considerate, warm and compassionate. A really wonderful person in general. Also, we pleased with the general caregiving staff. Now on to the unfortunate part, and I'd like to mention that it's unfortunate because 1. My uncle experience a huge decline in health very quickly, which yes this does happen with Dementia, but we truly believe his experience at Clearwater was a direct cause of an even speedier decline. 2. A business in the memory care/assisted living profession should be one that is skilled in such a sensitive area and we do not feel that is the experience we received. We were led to believe there was medical care available at all times, there was not. The head nurse at the time was a LVN who appeared to have no knowledge of how to take care of memory impaired patients. The take away on our end was a rough one. It was not at all how we hoped the experience would be for us and for my uncle. This already hard transition was heartbreaking for my aunt. I would just suggest really doing a deep dive when looking into memory care facilities best you can. It appears there have been some staffing changes at Clearwater in the past 6 months or so ago. We truly hope that this makes a big difference in every families and patients experience from now on.

Here's my story with The Vintage. It'll be a year in August since we moved Grandpa in. In this past year, our rent hasn't increased. Although he will be reassessed in August so not sure how that will go. Even if the price does go up, I can say that in our case (our loved one requires a lot of care) it's fair and entirely worth it. The first couple of months were difficult for our Grandpa. He wouldn't even leave his apartment for meals. Vintage was happy to deliver meals to his apartment (for a fee) but always encouraged him to get out of his apartment for fresh air and meals. Eventually, we were successful and he now enjoys three meals a day in the beautiful dining room. We often visit for the Sunday brunch for a reasonable price. My point is this, did we pay for the added service? Of course. What we weren't charged for was the encouragement and warmth of the staff. Furthermore, Grandpa now enjoys weekly entertainment at the Friday Happy Hour, he goes on walks with the walking club, joins in on outings during the week, and most importantly he's no longer isolated. I used to call to check in on him daily. If I didn't call, id receive multiple calls from him asking when id be visiting. Now it seems he's so preoccupied I can get by a day or two without calling or popping in. I can say in my case, we are BLESSED to have discovered Vintage Newport. I feel it is just the place for Grandpa to live out the remainder of his days.

I could not have asked for a better experience and staff. The tests took place on 2 different floors and from the moment I checked in the staff went over and above from efficiency to personality. The last test was a two part test and I was met by Al Miranda who was the most friendly person of the day. He explained everything thoroughly . He was patient and knowledgeable and walked me through every step. His communication skills were impeccable and his personality shined through. My kids laugh that I love Orange Coast because who wants to go to the doctor or hospital but if you have to they are top notch.

I did not enter this facility with a bowel bladder problem, but found that the way they deal with it is, rather than to help you get up and get to the toilet. They slap a diaper on you and tell you to go to the bathroom on yourself. Then the poop crew comes in changes, everyone's diaper and slaps another one on you. I was horrified to say the least. The Managment and Social Services Dept not only lied about various issues that occurred but were unsupportive in every single way. Absolutely the worst ever! Gabby should find a different field to work in because it was evident from our first conversation that helping others was not on her agenda. She was demeaning, rude and put words in mouth that I never uttered in order to make me seem uncompliant. She was offensive in every way possible and created more barriers to my recovery than I can mention here. Next the 2 younger male nurses who handed out the meds had dismissive smart a** attitudes. One actually said to me after waiting over an hour for much needed pain meds after back surgery "This is for my crybaby" needless to say I was shocked. After they refused to tell me what pills I was taking when asked... I requested a printout of the medication's I was taking. He asked me why I was being so difficult and told me that he was going to make me wait an additional hour for the pain medication that was due at that time AND he never printed out the list! After reporting this to management, it became clear to me that they were going to do absolutely nothing about it. Several times I ended up having to call the facility from my outside cell phone to get someone to answer my call light because the minimum wait time was 20 minutes. Completely unacceptable in every way, shape and form. However, I would like to highly commend the staff of overworked CNA's there who were kind, compassionate and caring. Many thanks to those who helped me along the way. In addition the physical therapy staff was excellent and I wish I could remember the Russian gal's name who was so fantastic in every way. Kudos to you. Keep up the good work!! The final straw that broke the camels back was the fact that they lost my custom-made front crown tooth and refused to even let me file a report about it. I was furious and I'm still without a front tooth many weeks later. I asked everybody to stop what they were doing that was helping me at that particular moment and told them exactly where my tooth was located next to me and they just kept on going and rolled it up in my sheets and dirty diaper, shoved them together in a plastic bag and left the room saying they would find it later in the laundry . I was mortified. It was a Saturday and I couldn't even get anybody to walk in there and place a reward sign which I was offering because it was a $2000 crown that required 3 seperate visits to the dental office. Heartbreaking expensive and difficult to replace considering my current health condition and restrictions. I'm not sure how they got away with NOT allowing me to file a report about the incident, but they simply refused to give me the necessary paperwork to file a report. Shocking!! After that I AMAʻd out of that hell hole just to get away from mananagment and Gabby who was physically blocking my exit with both hands on her hips upon me trying to exit the building. It was a disgusting experience in which I left the facility worse often than when I entered. I am now happily situated at Pelican Ridge Post Acute just down the street and I am highly satisfied with the care I am receiving there.

As a former Skilled Nursing Director, I knew it would be hard to find not just a care facility but a true community for her. She was my main concern. From the moment we arrived, we found exactly that! Danika, the Director, leads with compassion and strength. Olivia, the coordinator, brings a level of organization that made the transition feal seamless. Julie the secretary, greeted us with warmth every day. Making The Shores feel like home. Kaytlin, the activities director is slowly bringiing my non social mother back into life with her creativity and genuine joy. The employees ooze happiness with their jobs. The service is exceptional and its truly is a 5 star resort for the elderly. The menus are beyond brilliant and the food quality is a chefs kiss! The entertainment is beyond amazing, with numerous grand events to entertain family and the residents. Vivante isn't just an Assisted Living or Memory care facility. It is a touch of elegance that I am putting my name on the waiting list soon! I couldn't be happier with the care my mother is receiving. While what clearly was a life changing decision originally, moving into Vivante has proven time and again to be the best for both. Sadly, we lost our mom last month after an incredible fight she had been putting up for the past few years. Her last ten days truly showed us the incredible "loving care" by so many of Danica Coronel's TEAM. Now, over the years I have visited the facilities hundreds of times. I have gotten to know many of the caregivers, nurses, medtechs, servers, etc., and I have always felt good when leaving that my parents were in great hands. It is always clean and in good condition. We have enjoyed many great meals, met many residents & their families, and created some good memories (under the circumstances). Those "last ten days or so before her passing," REALLY opened my, and many of my family's eyes to the true depth of passion & caring of SO many of the Vivante staff (On the apartment side & especially in The Shores facility). From the smiling greetings by Jojo & Julie, the always positive Vince, Danica & Olivia, the incredibly joyful Alyssa (and mom Debbie), Krista, Ashlee, Elizabeth, Zoila, Jesus, Angela, Pilar, Irizella, Sara, lovely Aricelli who would make mom a nice cup of hot chocolate with a smile & warm words, to the cooks & servers, there are many more to mention. From the moment we brought my mom to Signature Residence, we knew we had made the right decision. It is a beautiful, warm, and peaceful home, but what truly sets it apart is the people.
