My only complaint would be that my loved one died on a Saturday morning. I tried to contact them on Sunday during business hours and spoke with someone who said a funeral director would call me back, but no one did. However, once I called on Monday and spoke directly with a funeral director, everything proceeded smoothly from there. All the paperwork is done on-line. Their prices are good, a big part of this is likely because the office on Millikan (in the City Hall Building in the Beaverton Round) is apparently just a small office with low overhead. The cremation is done through Riverview Abbey. It was done quickly and I was able to pick them up at the Millikan office (you can also pick up at Riverview Abbey). They can mail them to you as well. Obtaining death certificates through them was also easy, as was getting an obituary posted to their website. They are very professional, responsive, and happy to help.

During a time of grief and confusion after my father's death, they were such a comfort. Susan kept me up to date on every step of the process, from the moment they were notified of his passing. Susan made herself available via email most any time of the day. Often I would send an email with a question late at night, and I was shocked to receive an almost immediate response from her as she was answering emails from home. This made me feel cared for as an individual, and not just a job to complete during business hours. The staff, especially Susan went out of her way to accommodate my busy schedule, and made sure we had everything we needed well before the funeral services. Death is a subject that we often avoid discussing, but it is important to let your loved ones know what your wishes are. Smart cremation offers a pretty payment plan which my dad used. He had the entire process paid for in advance. Just to make sure his death wouldn't be a financial burden on us. This service also took all of the guess work out of things. We weren't faced with making that decision and trying to make arrangements while we were grieving. We simply gave the hospital the card provided by Smart cremation and they took care of everything from there. It was a great comfort knowing that our dad was being cared for with great care and respect. A huge thank you to Smart cremation for making a horrible time in our lives a lot easier to handle.

Smart cremation uses scare tactics telling people how much your local funeral home will charge and require you to purchase services you don't need. I call BS on that. Do your homework!!!

I trusted him enough to arrange my own future cremation with Wherity and requested that our ashes be combined and scattered over the ocean. Guy is a genuinely kind man who made me feel comfortable and was very patient when I had difficulty hearing him (I am hearing-impaired). He truly cares about the families he serves and offers compassionate service at prices far more reasonable than many funeral homes--some of which charge nearly double. We often don't think about all of the meticulous details required to organize funerals and memorial services, but these folks handle everything with precision and grace. The facility is tucked away in a hidden corner of Portland on Taylor's Ferry Road, and rises out of the forrested hillside suddenly - making it very easy to miss! The building boasts a large parking lot that covers two levels, and there are accessibility features throughout the property for those in need of them. Though the mausoleaum is an expansive space filled with light, it feels quiet and intimate. I'm very impressed that a facility dating back to 1916 is able to sparkle and shine like it was built yesterday. I very much appreciate the management and staff's dedication to maintaining this important place that is special to so many families.
