I first noticed that Katie was not the most attentive and just plain late and rude during a couple phone conversations, but I figured maybe she was not a phone person. Everyone deserves a second chance. I thought she would be courteous and professional in person as her reviews seemed to indicate. I was wrong. Her "new studio" at the time of my trial session for makeup and hair was her personal apartment. She did not explain this ahead of time which threw me off. The place was very clean and chic, super cute decor but it was very weird to use her restroom with her delicate clothing hanging in there. Katie cut me off when I attempted to discuss the overall look I was going for and tried to show her inspiration photos. She was busy being angry at her late hair person because she had some event to attend after my appointment. The hair person was sweet once she arrived but was discussing with Katie as she was doing my hair that it was not a full time job for her. Katie was trying to convince her to work on another project and speaking condescendingly about a recent project. Is not the point of a trial to have time to discuss what you want as a client? I could barely say anything and Katie kept cutting me off. The look ended up being very bizarre, not what I tried to request and too much even on camera at several angles. My hair updo came apart immediately after a handful of hours. Katie also kept checking her cell phone and texting during my trial as she was applying my makeup (not sanitary, eww). I was polite as I left but had a terrible feeling about how she would behave if I went ahead with her for my special event and how she would make people feel. I informed her later in writing and with ample notice that we would not move forward with her. She insisted we move forward, sending long, argumentative e-mails that did not make sense. I can only imagine she was going through a lot to treat me that way and have such strange behavior. I wish Katie a swift and lasting resolution to whatever causes those challenges. I also wish her future success but cannot recommend her based on my experience. I hope all of this information is helpful to others trying to make informed decisions about how to spend their resources.

Katie can do sheer elegance to full drama make up and more. She has done classic clean looks for my photo shoot's and for my birthday she has gone all out with glitter and huge eyelashes. It is very rare to find that Golden Trinity in this industry, and especially not when dealing with the more intimate services (waxing, spray tanning, etc). Not only did she fit me in to her schedule on extremely short notice, (called at 7:30am and was at my house by 9am), she also has the most realistic pricing compared to the majority of beauty services in Houston. And don't worry about hidden or additional costs with Andrea, because unlike everyone else, her pricing is flat and up front. No bait and switch pricing like everywhere else who advertise for $45 and then hit you with another $20+ for the instant bronzer--- knowing that you'll end up paying for it because without the bronzer, that would defeat the entire purpose of spray tanning... Instant results!! By the time she began applying the spray tan, I felt like I had known her forever. Which made the experience of being fully nude and exposed to someone you just met, feel more like a spa day with your bestie. Andrea takes her time with the application and is extremely tedious in making sure there are no streaks or imperfections AND spends ample time afterwards to ensure it sets perfectly! Which to me, is the single most important part of the process and something I have not found anywhere else. The color was an amazing/natural bronze tone and instantly noticeable! It completely exceeded my expectations! My only advise to you is that if you are considering using someone else other than Andrea for your beauty needs (tanning/makeup), then prepare yourself for the additional costs, less than perfect results, and the standard and annoying touch up routine for creases, streaks, patches, etc. Word had definitely gotten around about Andrea and she stays busy, so If she can't fit you in on short notice, as she was able to do for me, then JUST WAIT for her next available time!
