The management at the Henderson Cruise America needs training and empathy. This is a letter just I wrote to the corporate office. Beware of the Henderson Cruise America management. if you want to keep your family safe don't go to this buisness for your travel needs. First of all, I'm a return customer. My family and I had such a great time with your product before we decided to come back. We are a local family, and your Henderson location is right next to our house. On July 13th, I picked up the 30ft RV from your Henderson site. After a smooth pick-up, we headed on the freeway and noticed that both mirrors were shaking so badly I couldn't use the side mirrors for changing lanes, so I pulled over on the side of the freeway. I used a little bit of duct tape to secure both side mirrors. As we started heading up the highway, I started to feel hot air hitting my right foot coming from the engine compartment. I used duct tape and a wet yellow towel to act as a filter to lower the temperature and used a spray bottle to stop my foot from feeling the hot air. Later on as I proceeded up the mountain I heard a grinding noise and the muffler was dragging on the ground during steep climbs so I pulled over and used my strength and a dog leash to tie up the muffler. My family and I were in the middle of nowhere and there were no services available for miles. Also our fuel gauge had been acting strange during the trip. The gauge was getting stuck in the middle. I'm a 25 yr helicopter pilot and I'm used to equipment failing with no help I didn't want to worry my family nor break our plans with our scheduled vacation. We were high up in the Colorado with very little services. On July 23rd I returned the vehicle to your Henderson Location. I explained all of the mechanical issues to the Cruise American staff and that's when the disrespect started. I received no apology, no accountability, and the manager on duty didn't even come out to talk to me. I experienced multiple mechanical failures I was able to adapt to and still keep my family's trip on schedule. These family trips only happen once a year. I have pictures and videos of all of the mechanical issues. I'm not looking for money, and I'm not looking to hurt my neighboring business. I just want some accountability. I want to understand why my family and I could be sent in an RV with such hazardous defectives. On July 23rd, when I returned the RV, I was offered$139.00 with no apology, and the manager didn't even come out to talk to me. I admit I got mad and stormed out of the building. Here is the email I sent to customer service when the manager at the Henderson location said she was not with the power to provide any refund. Cruise America customer service offered $73 and a $50 gift card for ruining our once a year family vacation. To Cruise America Customer Service, My husband and I rented an RV this weekend from Friday through Monday (6/27-6/30). We had a terrible experience. The first night was a no-go. After loading the RV for two hours, the rooftop AC stopped working. It was blowing hot air from outside only. My husband spent a long time on the phone with agents trying to reset CGI, but no agent could locate it. The AC worked in the morning, so we figured it was good. But it was not. It was intermittent, at best. It would blow cold temporarily and then just phase out. We sweltered. There was only one working outlet in the whole vehicle above the table. No other outlet worked at all--not outside--not anywhere. The water pump did not work so unless we were fully hooked up at a paying campsite, we were unable to have running water. The toilet smelled so awful it's indescribable. When you flushed the toilet with the lid down, the water would spray forcibly out the sides and wet the floor and surrounding area. It was gross. In the little crevice between the toilet and the shower, there was an accumulation of hair and grime (likely feces, urine, whatever else goes in a toilet) that had obviously never been tended to. What's worse is the one (and only) time I used the kitchen sink to wash dishes at the campground (with their running water hooked up), when I pulled the plug, the stench of sewage, sulfuric and strong, deemed the RV uninhabitable for over an hour. I did not do dishes, wash hands, or use the sink thereafter. The smell was so pervasive that it impacted others and made sitting at the outdoor table embarrassing for my family. The adjacent campsites near to us were gagging and asking what was going on. It was utterly humiliating. The drivability was awful. My husband has a CDL and knows his trucks. Shocks are blown, and the RV barely felt like it safely held the road. Also, the entire cabin above the truck sounded like it would separate and suction back on with every compression. The entire RV sounded like a bucket of loose nails. We are not experts, but it didn't sound like an acceptable or normal RV sound. Internally, magnets did not hold the cupboards shut while driving so they opened and slammed around loudly and our stuff fell out. Sitting as a passenger was quite like being on the hot seat--the floor board and center console were BURNING hot because there is no insulation between the rider and the exhaust running below the boards. It was dangerous, and I had to keep my kids away. The floor on the RV is corroded and water rotted--the floor boards were duct taped together and separated and actually sliced the side of my 2 year old's pinky toe. Although a seemingly minor injury, it ended up ruining our ability to pretty much do anything that required shoes because he would break down crying and refused to walk because of the cut on his pinky toe. He's two, and it was the end of his world. Moreover, we all spent our time trying not to trip over the flooring and hurt ourselves, but it was a 8-10 inch slice in the very middle of the main area that separated more than the depth of my sole of my shoe when either side of the floor was stepped on so we all tripped often. Sand seemed to continually appear from the crack in the floor and that made the rest of the flooring dangerously slippery for our kids. We swept with the provided broom that had a splintering and duct taped handle constantly but the sand was persistent. Flooring was nailed and duct taped indiscriminately pretty much everywhere in the RV. Other things, such as the razor sharp serrated edge of the plastic cover to the handles on the RV door, and the equally sharp and painful serrated edge of the table, or the exposed metal edging that was installed to compensate for some previous problem on the side of the stove that was missing its cover, were painful when touched. It made having kids in the RV an absolute nightmare. We dropped it off today (6/30 around 10:25 am) and the manager at the Las Vegas location did the walk through with us and apologized for our experience and documented all the above. She tried the water pump--it did not work for her either. She saw all of the sharp exposed edges, nails, and the floorboards which had been duct-taped together and separated. We explained the humiliation of the sink draining fiasco. We totally missed out on the first night of this trip and then suffered through the others because of the condition of this RV and that it lacked pretty much all amenities promised. The time, effort, and opportunity to even have a vacation for us is limited, and this ended up destroying our trip. Our young sons went from loving the vacation to begging to go home. read more

They asked me if anything was wrong with the RV, I said yes and started to tell them, and they got very defensive and didn't really want to hear it. I said no to prepaid propane, I later realized they charged me for that after I dropped it off, so check your bill carefully... they said only a minor mileage upcharge then slipped that one in there. It drove like a bucket of bolts... I didn't expect that. When I called about the propane issue they hung up on me... so not very nice. It wasn't all bad, but I thought I should let this board know... It started off ok. We had an appointment time for picking up our pull behind camper. We were processed early and were out the door after a brief orientation. We were told the battery was at 2/3 full. There was an incessant beeping of the carbon monixide detector. It turns out that beeping is alerting to the LOW battery level. Yet, they didn't check it and instead re wired the CM detector. When we tried to set up the camper at 8pm that evening we had NO battery at all. The actual camper was fine on the outside but literally filthy and dirty and run down on the inside. I was in need of a7 person RV very quickly, our vehicle we had owned had died at 1142pm, I was on the phone with cruise American at 12:00am and was able to get a reservation for 8am at this location, they had the vehicle, they were very helpful, and initially told us we would have to wait until 12pm to get the RV, but we explained our situation of being very late to an obligation 6 hours away, and they had it done by 9am. Very straight forward, very understanding when we brought it back, went over on the agreed milage, and misunderstood the hourly versus daily generator usage, and didn't nickel and dime us. I would 500% rent from this Cruise America or any other cruise America as well. Our sideview mirror got damaged and broke off, we took it to a cruise Canada and they took care of us, had us in and out in 20 mins and only $250, didn't charge us labor or make us file a claim. It was our 1st RV trip so we didn't know what to expect. Their customer service within the location were all friendly. Raquel took care of us when we picked up and dropped RV. A few RV hiccups but their 24/7 phone assistance truly helped us navigate and guide us in using the RV. First of all...our checkout was awesome. I unfortunately did not write down his name- I wanna say Paul, Phil, Greg or I could be waaay off- but he was so funny. We were allowed to ask questions, test systems and thoroughly get acquainted with the RV. The rental agreement was explained and we purchased the insurance along with our personal insurance and propane because it as just to good to pass up. So we hit the road and all was well accept we had back flow from the sink into the shower but luckily everywhere we parked had facilities. During the rental we only had to purchase propane once and we cooked breakfast and dinner each night. We got the 35' and we slept comfortably as a family of 4 -even tho we are all 6' or taller. Unfortunately, we did have an issue with a leaky shower head and in the small RVs, that is also where the toilet and sink are. It was actually quite a mess to deal with. I just bought my first RV. Service was fabulous. People were wonderful. Alex is awesome. He's one of the friendliest people I have ever met. I have wanted to travel since I was 5 and watched a travel show on TV with my grampa. That was over 60 years ago. So I was nervous when I got there, but totally relaxed and excited by the time I left. Zero pressure and 100% patience and understanding. Even though I changed my mind about which RV I was buying, he was kind and understanding. I sent him an email telling him of the change. He called me within half hour of office opening, updated everything with me. He also sent me links to find best accessories I want to add. the list of defective, missing and inoperable parts was staggering. Dome light that wouldn't turn off. empty water tank. Full gray water tank, 1/3 full black water tank - maybe the sensor is broken also. hot water left in bypass with no way to reach it without navigating and being scraped up with fiberglas. privacy curtains that were ripped from the wall. shower left on full blast - fun when the water was hooked up for the first time. leaking ceiling fan in bath. gray water left so full that none of the drains would drain. called 800 number and were told to pour hit water with detergent down all the drains. here are we supposed to get the hot water. the hot water tank - we finally YouTubed it with injuries only to find that it leaked. The vehicle obviously had severe steering problems and was exhausting to drive. Oh, the sewer hose was 5 ft and couldn't reach anything. And the door holding the short sewer hose in wouldn't stay shut. Had to get tape to shut it - used the same tape to pull fiberglass shards out of our skin. Maybe that's why they chose to leave it full for the next customers. It was a sad trip for us fixing everything along the way. and we got tired of hearing, "rest assured" everything will be ok. but it wasn't ... ever. read more

This was a very disappointing experience. What seemed like a good deal, turned into a nightmare. We always go camping at near by sand dunes, on the last weekend of October. Our group rented a total of 5 RV's. Of the 5, 1 was rented from the competition. We chose Cruise America because it was a lower deposit, and a little less expensive. Of the 4 RV's, 3 had generator problems. All 4 were unacceptable for rental. There were various problems... However, the Generator seemed to be the biggest issue. Aside from the generator, we had many issues with our RV! We had a broken vent, I had to fix many fixtures that were falling apart, the shower was disgusting and had to be cleaned, and the stereo had issues. The reason I'm giving them 3 Stars instead of 1, is because every employee we encountered, especially the call center guy were very helpful, courteous, and friendly. read more

What they won't tell you... Let me save you some trouble and money! Don't rent of this horrible company. First of all we go to pick up our RV at 12:00 like I was told they open for pick up on the phone and it's not ready because "I was supposed to make an appt." which no one told me, but it was in the small print of the 10 page agreement I received in an e-mail. So they had scheduled my appt. to pick up at 2:45. Ok so I'll wait.. And wait I did. I didn't leave that place until after 4. So there goes an entire day of being charged for a rental which I only had in the evening. Also we were headed to Zion and driving that truck at night in a new place is scary. 2nd HORRIBLE reason not to rent. Their trucks are garbage. Lots of things are broken and the worst thing of all was our Heater. We could not get the heater to work and it was 45 degrees so we called and they went through all the trouble shooting steps with us, which we had already done because this was not our first time in a camper. Then they said they would send someone out the next day and they would be calling. We waited around and no one called. I called them again around 2pm and they told me someone called and left me a message which was a HUGE lie because I had no missed call or a message and I had service the entire day. That night is was 40 degrees out. The next day we were headed to bryce canyon and they said they did not have anyone there to fix out heater and we would have to buy a heater. We tested the heater again and it came on for a minute but shut back off about 10 minutes later. We ended up buying this small space heater and the next night is was 20 degrees out. This small crappy space heater hardly made a difference. We were freezing!! We ended up bringing the camper back a day early because there was no way that we could bare another night in that cold. When we returned the camper they gave us a $50.00 credit for bringing it back early but said we went over our miles so it was a wash. Well... I told the girl on the phone everywhere I was going and she added the miles so it's not my fault they can't add and I wanted a credit for the heater not working and no hot water and the guy said the heater was working and said I had to call customer service. I wrote 4 e-mails and called customer service 4 times.. You bet they never responded and everyone I spoke to said it wasn't their department and that I would have to make a complaint online.. Its been 3 weeks and I haven't heard from them and I doubt I will. 4 NIGHTS OF CAMPING COST $800.00 PLUS $200 IN GAS PLUS (the trucks guzzle gas) an average of $50.00 per night at camping sites $200 plus sheets dishes and food at walmart $300.00 ... 4 NIGHT TOTAL = $1,500.00 I could have stayed at the Ritz and had a good nights sleep Oh.. the beds are this 3" rock hard mat.. Showers are dirty and you need a ladder to get up on the toilet. A smaller person or child would not be able to use the toilet. I'm 5'7" and I had a hard time getting on it.. read more

I would give the first four nights of our trip five stars. We absolutely loved the experience and had a wonderful time up until night five. At this point we find ourselves at the campground on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. We had made dinner and retired to bed early. About 1030 pm my husband got up to use the bathroom. After several minutes in the back of the camper, I heard him fall. I yelled his name and he was completely unresponsive. I turn on the light and he was on the floor looking at me but clearly dazed and confused. I helped him to the dinette to sit down and he said he didn't know what had happened, but he felt very dizzy. Once I thought he was OK I popped into the bathroom myself and within seconds I am hit with an overwhelming nausea and tunnel vision to the point that I thought I was going to pass out. I yelled to him that something was wrong. He had opened up the outside door and sitting on the step. At this point all I remember is him helping me out of the RV and saying something about gas. We are in our early 50s, very fit and my husband is retired military/law-enforcement with a lot of first responder experience. He knew immediately it was carbon monoxide poisoning. The heat had been on very low, and I had left the vent open above the kitchen, which probably helped save our lives as the carbon monoxide was venting through that and had not reached the detector under the dinette. It was a truly terrifying experience, and at least two hours before the full effects of the poisoning had started to leave our systems. There is no ER at the Grand Canyon and the clinic had closed at 5 PM. Calling an ambulance from Flagstaff would have been a wait of almost 2 hours. We did a quick online search of what to do and spent the better part of the next hour outside, breathing deeply trying to clear our lungs. We ended up in a hotel that night certain it was not safe to spend another minute inside the unit. When the clinic opened the next morning, we went, but were told there was really nothing they could do for us because they did not have the test for carbon monoxide. At this point, we are feeling significantly better so we decide to just drive to Flagstaff with the windows down (November) to the garage that CA recommended. The technician there checked out the unit for several hours, but said he could not be 100% positive there was not a leak and he personally would not spend the night in the unit. So our last three nights of our RV trip out west ended up in hotels. Plus, we had to throw out the remainder of our food because we were concerned about lighting the propane stove in the unit. A truly wonderful trip had turned into a bit of a nightmare at the end. It has been two weeks now and we have given CA the opportunity to do the right thing. If you are reading this, you most likely have also read the only real negative side of Cruise America seems to be their customer service. We did not intend to have to use customer service so we disregarded those reviews. However, after investigating the unit, Cruise America has come back and offered us a whopping $99 refund for an eight day trip as well as a $75 credit to use towards a future rental. I understand there are a lot of scammers out there, but this is not who we are. Our unit number was 200040. I would warn anyone renting from this company and specifically receiving this unit that there is definitely something wrong with it. We did not run the generator. We did not have the engine on. There was no propane leak. This was carbon monoxide and they are very fortunate they are not deal with the aftermath of finding two dead bodies in the unit at the Grand Canyon. I will happily remove this review if Cruise America exhibits some integrity in this situation. We are not asking for a full refund, but rather reimbursement for the three nights in a hotel. Anyone renting from them should be warned to bring your own carbon monoxide detector with you and don't assume you won't have to deal with customer service at some point. read more

Worst experience of my life. This RV WAS DISGUSTING. - it was as filthy as can be. I was under the impression (based on online video) it would have vinyl seat which would be easy to clean. However the seats were cloth, and were grimy. - the RV has over 100k miles, and it showed - the fridge never worked properly. Our milk was spoiled and we had to throw food out - the toilet flush plug would never competely closed, so the RV smelled of poop and pee the entire time - the ac-heater didn't function properly We would NEVER rent from Cruise America again! read more

There are way better options out there. Don't go on just the name. Rented an RV to drive from Henderson to Valley of Fire for the weekend. They gave us the RV on less than a quarter tank so we had to waste time there. Finally when we returned it they completely SCAMMED us. They claimed we went over our estimated miles and they would not refund our deposit in its entirety. They claimed we drove over 470miles. We drove from Henderson to Valley of Fire, back to Henderson to return the RV. Henderson to Valley if Fire is 73miles. It's impossible for us to be anywhere near the miles they claimed. DOUBLE CHECK your paperwork and take PICTURES OF EVERYTHING. THEY ARE NOT A TRUSTWORTHY COMPANY. read more

I am shocked by how bad this company is. I was simply not prepared for the sheer level of ineptness displayed by every aspect of the Cruise America organization. These people take poor service, bad communication, horrible quality, and disorganized operations to a whole new level. The cheap tour bus scene in the Adam Sandler Netflix movie "Murder Mystery" with the bad flamenco musicians playing while an unsophisticated traveler is screaming for her free champagne, epitomizes the Cruise America experience. If you're looking for an unsafe, second rate, seedy RV, while paying top dollar, then this is the place for you. The Check-In process was excruciatingly painful. They require a "secondary" reservation. So beware. Your primary reservation is not enough. Hidden in the fine print of your confirmation email is some verbiage telling you to call a day in advance to make a secondary pick up reservation. So if you miss this, you will rot there for hours waiting for your RV. You would think these morons would get with the program and assign or solicit a pick up time like car rental agencies do. But that would be too easy and convenient. Common sense is evidently not too common. Anyways, after waiting for several hours in a 3rd world office with people sleeping on the floor, screaming kids, people with bad sunburns coming and going aimlessly for hours, we finally got our RV. And what a dingy piece of junk it was. The attached pictures speak for themselves. How embarrassing to pull up at the campground with this sad excuse for a RV. It's unbelievable that they keep these old, filthy, dilapidated units in service. We even found some week old waffles in the microwave from the previous renters. There was dirt and nasty grime everywhere. Cheap, pay-by-the-hour motels are cleaner than this RV. (Not that I've ever been to one...) The return process was equally painful. Waiting in line, surrounded by a sweaty mob of tourists, desperately trying to get someone's attention to return the darn thing. Yet another hour wasted so they could tell me that the gas shortage would be charged at $6.00/gallon. At that point, all I could do was laugh. The silver lining though was that this terrible experience allowed us to find RVShare.com. A wonderful, modern RV sharing site, similar to Turo. This will be the way to go in the future. We will rent a high-end RV without all the pain, stress, hassles, wasted time and surcharges brought about by Cruise America. Outfits like Cruise America, similar to Blockbuster Video, Sears, Toys R Us, etc will soon be obsolete. It's only a matter of time until people wake up. I would not use Cruise America again if you paid me. Not worth the stress. read more

This was our first extended trip on a Cruise America RV, 25 footer. Everything went smoothly in large part because Angelique who assisted us was AWESOME!!!! She was extremely detailed before we left so we had a good handle on things. She had some really good tips that we followed which made things so much easier. Check in was easy. Make sure you reserve your appointment to pick up your rental a few days before. The instructions were very easy and clear. Download the app so you have troubleshooting videos you can watch offline in case of trouble. The RV was easy to use and was perfect for our needs. They are currently trying to charge us $2,500 for a water tank that had nothing to do with us. Fuel got in the water tank BEFORE we ever rented the vehicle. Tasting the water source inside the camper was not part of the pre-inspection. It was our first (and very likely LAST) time renting an RV. We got the zero dollar deductible insurance. at one point the microwave shifted and we could not get it back to its original position. This was no fault of our own and we reported it immediately. There was no charge for this. That made sense. As I said, we had never rented an RV before. We were excited to use the sink and shower because it wasn't something we normally did. To our disappointment, the water tasted like fuel. This, coupled with the fact that the back storage area reeked the fuel gave us newcomers the impression that that was just the way it was. It was unpleasant, but considering the Podunk lot, we got it from, we assumed that this was a drawback of cheap RV travel. We bought bottled water and showered at the campgrounds. There was no way we could have known. There was no way we could have caused this. But because we didn't report it during the trip (we didn't know we needed to) there is no record of it from our point of view. Now it is down to us to fit the bill. We could barely afford this trip and now we have to come up with $2500 in the middle of a move while selling a house in a lower market than the one in which we are buying. But I don't think we have a legal leg to stand on so it is up to 'corporate' to decide whether or not this is a valid charge. Oh, and the charge went to our back up bank with no forewarning, not an email, not a call, nothing. Cruise America has flippantly posted a charge to a Secondary bank account, BYPASSING THE FIRST ACCOUNT ON FILE, with no communication or ANY indication of an issue, fully one month after our business should have been concluded, for a very unlikely scenario of liability. Meanwhile, we have to scramble between accounts to cover a charge we didn't know we had, let alone needed to dispute, over a weekend at the beginning week of the month. I bought a former rental RV from this Cruise America a couple weeks ago and drove it home to California. While there were a couple issues (e.g. the generator not starting!) which couldn't be resolved on the spot, Alex and Josh made sure the minor problems I found were taken care of after the sale. There was a rock chip in the windshield which was quickly replaced and David and his crew in Carson CA deserve kudos for getting the generator running again. I would definitely recommend these guys if you're in the market for a used RV and want to save some money. The rigs have high mileage but they're great drivetrains that have been well-maintained. They also offer warranties if you're into that sort of thing. Good company with good transparency throughout the sales process. read more

By far the worst experience EVER. There was a carbon monoxide leak in the vehicle (as confirmed by the local fire department,) and we couldn't get in touch with anyone from Cruise America for almost the entire week we were on our road trip. This includes calling their supposedly emergency number. After dealing with that our entire trip (having the fridge and heat off, so that the CO leak didn't kill us,) we returned the vehicle and got charged for the repair man that the company finally called to come out and fix the leak. Aside from that, there was a water leak and cracked windshield, so the vehicles are in really terrible condition. If you can find pretty much ANY other company or individual to from whom to rent, I highly recommend you do that. read more

I am giving 5 STARS because of tech Chase and Manager Josh. These 2 turned our families nightmare around! They showed such empathy to our situation. When my husband checked out with Raquel all she asked him was if he looked up YouTube videos on how to operate the RV? Then asked him to sign and goodbye. Well, our working RV at 1pm turned out to not be working by 9pm when we started to feel the cold set in at Valley of Fire. Our Thanksgiving plans started to fade when we realized the generator wouldn't turn on for heat. We had to turn the truck on every 2 hours to keep our infant, toddler and dogs warm. We were hoping to find hook ups the next day and continue our trip. Well, we did find hookups but the fridge wasn't working. Our toddlers milk wet sour, produces went bad, our meats were warm. The freezer froze our ice cream while the fridge heated everything up. Then we tried to use the hot water but that never heated up. The call center or the manual was useless because what they are asking us to look for and do was updated from the trucks that are rented out. So that wasn't any help. At this point. We canceled this trip. We were told to drive back 90mins to get another RV. Ummm no! That's 3hrs round trip plus reloading? Then when we get to the facility Raquel saw us and heard us complain about the RV and screamed, "get a tech, that RV was fine yesterday". Well, tech Chase tried to turn on the generator and it never came on. Raquel shit does happen! Josh's generosity went a long way. I was planning to boycott this company while driving back to return the RV but Josh understood our frustration. He offered to reimburse us and pay for our groceries that we threw away. With all being said. The clerks working there are the face of the company and should be the first line of defense as a friendly customer service instead of what I encountered. Chase and Josh deserve a lot of my reasons of trying again next year for Thanksgiving. read more

After we bought, we noticed that a curtain rail and a drawer were starting to come loose, they just took it in back and fixed both. I purchased a 30 ft refurbished RV from Cruise America. Alex was the individual that helped me. I must say he did an amazing job! Throughout the whole process he was there to help. His communication was excellent, he was also honest and upfront about everything! After purchase there were a few minor things I wanted taken care of. Alex and Bobby in the service department fixed them, no questions asked. Bobby did an excellent job in the modifications! Rented a 25' Cruise America RV at the end of June for a 4 day trip to Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks. Customer service was excellent. I got a call from Cruise America a few days before pickup and they confirmed our pickup time and figured out we were traveling with another party and made sure we were able to pick up our RVs together. The actual checkout process was smooth as well and the inspection / walk through. The only issue was that temps were 105 so trying to move and setup in the sweltering heat was tough. Unfortunately wasn't any parking available in the Cruise America lot but there's street parking behind the lot where everyone else parked so my minivan fit in perfectly. The trip itself was fantastic. While the RV I got was on the older side (130k miles) and I'm not used to driving something this big, it's not that different from driving a big UHaul. Zion and Bryce were simply amazing. If you haven't been, go. Full stop. The day we left Bryce to head back to Vegas, the battery light started to come on in my RV. I called Traveller's Assistance about it and they recommended I get it checked out the next time I passed by an auto shop. About 12 miles out of Bryce the engine died and I e def up on the side of the road. Turns out the alternator was bad. Luckily, the rest of my party went ahead with my family while a tow truck came to take me to Kanab UT which had the closest repair shop. I then packed up the rig and spent the night in a tow yard but the good folks at Ramsay's Towing and Service took care of me the next morning and got me on the road again by noon. Driving back to Cruise America, they took the initiative by offering a fair compensation package without me having to ask. All in all, a good experience despite the alternator incident. read more

Frankly, I'm a little surprised by the negative reviews posted for Cruise America. Last week, we rented the "Standard" 25 foot coach to take a trip to California and Arizona, and it was a great experience from start to finish. The representatives in the office were nothing but kind and incredibly professional. We had a few issues on the trip (water hose connection was slightly damaged making it hard to get a tight fit, heater worked, but thermostat didn't, meaning that the options were on or off, and it was slightly dirty on pickup) none of these were deal breakers just minor inconveniences. It rained almost our whole trip, so it would have been nice to have an awning to enjoy the outdoor space, but we brought a TV and DVD player so we had a good time watching the rain, and stayed comfortable inside. As far as pricing goes, they were by far the cheapest option. Even going over by about 200 miles was below what I would have paid anywhere else, and I did a LOT of comparisons. They offer the option to prepay before leaving to avoid having to refill propane and dump the tanks, which was worth the little extra cost than to stop somewhere and dump there, or wait for an attendant at a truck stop or gas station. That said, I am already planning my next trip with them in the summer. This time, though, I think we (2 adults and two medium/small dogs) will go for the large size for the more comfortable shower and island bed in the back, and bring with us a cheap easy up for shade outside.
