I would give them zero if I could. They sent us out in a death trap with only 6 of 10 cylinders working. RV broke down and we spent our entire vacation in Laughlin Nevada instead of the Grand Canyon, waiting for Cruise America to send a replacement RV (three. Days. In Laughlin). Refused to refund so much as a penny so I'm working with my credit card company. Three of us got heat exhaustion waiting on hold in the 117 degree weather. First off, this low score does not have anything to do with the customer service/people side of this business. My husband had a very pleasant rental experience in that regard so it pains me a bit to be so harsh BUT, I feel it's necessary to hopefully help them improve their product. The vehicle itself was TERRIBLE. We rented a 30 foot mobile home and it was possibly the worst vehicular experience I have EVER had, including times I got violently ill and threw up for hours on boats! Seriously. It smelled of smoke, like it was so seeped into every part of the vehicle that I could never stop smelling it. On top of that, nasty fumes from the toilet tank (which we cleaned out EVERY SINGLE NIGHT and used that special cleaning solution multiple times) wafted out constantly, even on a fresh tank with nothing but a little bit of pee in it. The odors were just unbearable and nonstop. The other massive issue was the suspension of the truck and the way that the motor home was essentially just slapped on top of said truck. It truly felt like being in a studio apartment that was being shaken by angry giants, for hours and hours. We're talking every single bump and curve is an issue, and everything that isn't nailed down ends up flying around and rolling (dangerously) on the floor.It was so stressful and jarring and I honestly didn't get used to it even after 6 days. We met other campers who let us know that it can be MUCH better and that what we were driving was pretty bottom of the barrel...For the rental price + fees (we paid $2,500 for 6 days) I was expecting better than that! read more

Had a sleazy experience where I was way overcharged in fees. I returned the RV very dusty, but with no damages. I was charged $1200 in fees, and was not sent an invoice for the charges. I contested via their corporate office, and was finally sent an invoice, which charged $105 an hour for labor (I was quoted $50 at pickup), and charged me for replacing the sofa and all curtains on the RV. The sofa needed to be cleaned, but none of this was damaged at all. If you rent from them, be ready for charges that don't make sense and aren't in line with the rental agreement. read more

Great experience here. Mike and his daughter were extremely friendly, answered all my questions, and left a solid impression as I arranged for and later drove off with my RV. Before I left, Mike walked through everything and made sure I had no questions. He was likable and engaged in friendly conversation while going over all the ins and outs. I noticed a couple very minor issues (weather stripping around the side door, and a small issue with a side view mirror) which I reported right away. They documented the issue and apologized, which was not necessary but very nice of them to do. I drove to my camping spot and left the RV in place for a whole week. It worked well. The shower got as hot as you could want and the refrigerator and freezer were spot on--I was never left short of cold drinks! Returning the RV was even easier than checking it out. Again, Mike and his daughter made the process painless. Very excellent customer service and I'll be using them again next year for my next trip. read more

Michael did great job explaining all the features of the RV I rented, which was a really nice model with all the amenities one could ask for. Rick, Mike and their sweet Granny run this place and they were awesome! They were so nice, helpful and honest. It was our first time renting an RV and the experience was very easy and pleasant. You don't get customer service like this anymore. We went out for a 3 day weekend and since they are a storage facility as well, we left our truck in their secured gated lot. Very easy process! We pulled in, and we went through the rental agreement and they showed us how the RV worked. Then we unloaded our stuff out of our truck, left the truck keys with Mike and drove off with the RV. This is a review of Central Cruise America, not this specific location. We have had issues with their RVs in the past - including a broken air conditioner which they assured us would work when we ran the vehicle a while, but which did not work and we wasted a whole day trying to get it fixed at a supposedly authorized garage. However my issue this year (why have I not learned?) is with reservations. We have an RV booked and want to add a friend so she can pick it up (I have to be out of town that day). They refuse to add her to the reservation. Or to allow me to put the reservation in her name instead. This makes no sense. And they refuse to let me speak to a supervisor about it also. Use Roadbear or El Monte- they have been much better with us in past read more

This was the most horrible customer service experience, I have had in my life. This is an independent franchise, rent from the Cruise America hub in Newark or Sacramento. First off, they gave us a rig that was unsafe, to drive. The steering column shook, when driven over 40mph. They would have known this if the RV, had been properly inspected but it was not. It took us hours to return home, when we complained and told them about the situation, Mike accused us of trying steal his shitty RV. I had to have San Pablo police escorted me to return the coach. I've been a satisfied customer of Cruise America in the past, but this year I'm sad to say I experienced awful customer service... The camper we rented for Thanksgiving vacation to the Grand Canyon had two mechanical problems: the refrigerator was broken and there was a issue with the generator that we couldn't run it for more than a little while... we have two adults and three kids and so not having a fridge or being able to run heat at night was, as you can imagine, a real hassle (and an expensive one)... When we called Cruise America for support, they hooked us up with a mechanic who was able to fix the generator but not the refrigerator. We spent a day in the mechanic's small town, killing time while this repair was going on... In the meantime, we weren't able to keep food cold in the fridge... so everything we brought along spoiled (lots of food I'd cooked in advance) and we had to go out to eat or to the store at least once a day... if you've been to the Grand Canyon, you know the food choices there are limited... it got expensive, and boring, and took away from our time visiting the park... When I explained all of this to Cruise America phone support, they offered me $30 to buy a cooler and $10/day for ice. When I got home and wrote to Cruise America Customer Service about compensating us for the extra expenses (food, RV hookups) and hassle, they sent me $100 gift certificate toward our next RV trip. Sorry, Cruise America... I don't think there's going to be another trip with you... read more

Great Customer Service. Mike and Rick were outstanding. I have heard stories about poor CruiseAmerica experiences, these guys were the exception. From the start everything was well managed, organised and an excellent attention to detail. The RV was prepared well and the team were happy to walk through everything with no rushing. By the way they get through a lot of RV rentals so this shows you a lot about them. From paperwork through to the walk through on the RV, what a pleasure. On the return, once again very easy going and very understanding of some issues we had. I would highly recommend this location for renting your RV. For anyone looking to Rent one, go and see these guys first and take their advice. Me and another family rented 2x 25ft RV's from here and the same story will be told by them. Never never again! After waiting 2hours to rent the RV even with a date we finally got the RV. But the inside looked liked 20 years old. It was all dirty and sticky, the matrasses and pads were old, the curtains could not be closed and the insect door was broken. We could have waited for another cleaning of the inner room, but as we have made a reservation for the campground we decided to take it ans clean it by ourselves. It took hours! But the dirt and smell in the pads remained and we decided to give it back earlier, cause it was so disgusting. Until now we did not get our money back. Rented from this location a couple times. Always has greats service. Office staff and field staff always has a smile on there face. I think this location is family owned and operated. Great and positive energy. I'm always excited to rent from them. The only thing I don't like is how the prices fluctuate from day to day. It not a small difference. It can be $80 a day to $250. Even on week days. But they keep there rv's neat and clean. Everything looks new inside and out. read more
