Throughout the journey, "Peggy", our trusted camper van, led the way. From booking to pick up, during our rental and everything in between, the entire process was extremely easy and straightforward. I was thoroughly glad that I had paid for the unlimited mileage option as we definitely put some miles on Peggy. I was also thoroughly glad that I had paid for the insurance protection because unfortunately we needed to use it, getting a crack in our windshield while driving through the national park. All of the staff that I encountered at Escape Campervans were extremely friendly and engaging. They were helpful and very kind. The camper van itself was given to us in pristine condition and very user-friendly. It was comfortable for our 8 day roadtrip and we appreciated having the kitchenette in the back to cook our meals when we wanted. There was tons of storage and the bed was comfy. it definitely sparked an interest in my husband and I to eventually own our own someday. As the vehicle lights stayed on for a few minutes after exit/entry when using the restroom at night, the engine had to be run in the morning for a few minutes to charge up the battery. A little advice: as the gas stations are a distance away from the rental agency, try to return the vehicle with a full tank of gas if possible. Would happily rent from the agency again.

Worth every single penny! You may think what they charge is expensive but try and rent a Atv or Utv from the businesses in Pismo and you'll realize how reasonable their prices are. The best part is you have it for as long as you want. No, oh shit I gotta have the rental back in 10 mins nonsense. Most of the ATVs and UTVs you rent on the beach are beat up, rusted and in horrible shape; hours of abuse from inexperienced riders and salt water take a toll on the equipment and it shows. I know because we do yearly trips to Pismo and I've always rented from Arnie's or Steves ATV. Not to knock them because they are friendly people, but their equipment just sucks. ‍ I picked up OCRVs CanAm and it was flawless!Clean, and ready to rip. I also walked around their place and saw that the rest of their rentals. They're all updated and clean. Not like the other places TBH. I will definitely come back here EVERY SINGLE YEAR from now on. There was superficial aesthetic scratches as you can see in the photo. We were told, that these tiny scratches are worth 25% of the entire cost of the part ($1400). Do you think these scratches justify 25%? In reality, it's more like 0.1% of the cost. --so how many customers will they do this to? 10? And reap a 250% return on this part? -HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS. I'm all for paying for damages but this is ridiculous. The money maker is charging customers for cumulative replacements. You're NOT SUPPOSE TO PROFIT OFF DAMAGE CHARGES. I was a little apprehensive about how it would be to live onboard and drive such a big vehicle but Conrad and Derek armed us with all the information we needed and the Free Spirit was surprisingly easy to drive. We loved it and so did our dog, who we really appreciated being able to bring with us. The RV has everything you need already on board so we traveled light and didnt feel like we missed anything. I esp love this model because it has a screen door, so we were able to sleep with it open every night but not be attacked by mosquitos. We checked out van, had many cosmetic errors but nothing else was wrong with it. We made it the two weeks without any problems. Check engine light came on at one point but the Travellers Autobarn help section informed us it was just something to note upon return. The fridge would only keep out food cold half of the time but we were also traveling along the PNW in the winter and the fridge ran off solar panels so I believe it was just due to lack of power. More than enough propane for cooking every meal, only needed to fill up the water tank once halfway on the trip. Overall, a great budget van. Staff seemed to be helpful when needed and the van got us there and back without any major issues. If you're looking for the luxurious van life experience this isn't the vehicle for you. But if you have a long roadtrip planned and want to save money on sleeping arrangements, definitely choose this route. Excited to rent again on any future long haul trips!

Also you need very good insurance as even a pine cone dropped from the tree where you are camping can leave a mark. I tried to work with the owner to rectify some incorrect charges and I was accused of having a learning disability. SMGDH The story goes like this: I recently booked a trip with Trekker Vans and it was, by far and away, the worst vehicle rental experience I have ever had. I returned the van in a perfectly fine condition (see attached photos), and with a full tank of gas, but was charged $100 in cleaning fees and fuel. The rental agreement stipulates that the van not be returned "excessively dirty" which I later realized was code for "Trekker Vans wants you to return it spotless, and will nickel and time you at their discretion." The gas tank was also full when I dropped it off, so I really have no idea where the fuel charge came from. I tried working with Nate to find an amicable solution but that simply did not work. He was myopically focused on proving his point versus hearing me out. I ultimately had to end the conversation when he accused me of having a learning disability. At that point, I realized there was no hope of being treated with any form of respect. If you want to be ripped off, talked down to, and insulted then go with Trekker Vans. Otherwise, go literally anywhere else.
