I used to visit here annually when I lived in NY. I have very fond memories of Indian Ladder Farms…read moreas a child and it was a very special treat to sample their warm apple cider and devour a bag of fresh cider donuts. Many years later they have so much more to offer - several varieties of fresh coffee, fresh warm pies, a huge selection of jarred items such as honey, pickles, olives, jams and jellies, a variety of craft beers and ciders made on site, Danishes, cookies, and other pastries for purchase, clothing and other merchandise, a large produce area with some of the most beautiful fruits and veggies available, a separate building dedicated to just apple varieties, and a large event hall at the back end of the property near their brewery. This place is pretty awesome. Something else to note is that when we arrived, they were setting up for Oktoberfest, so if you don't have any plans for Oktoberfest next year this would be an exceptional venue to share in the celebration. I have to say that it is a little pricy, much more expensive than I remember but we are living in different times now. We purchased one of the warm peach pies and it was exquisite. I even had a piece with my breakfast the next morning, I couldn't get enough, but it was about $25. Three donuts and two coffees cost us $17.55, which is a bit overkill but we wanted to enjoy in the moment. We also purchased a jar of peach jelly Togo and that was about $8. This is a great place to take a friend or date in the afternoon or for an event. There are several walking trails available and the property is gorgeous as you have a great view of the Catskill Mountains. There are several places where you can just sit around and chat for a while and they have their own pub and eatery under the main store. Additionally, there are some livestock chilling on the property and a small petting area where the kids can feed goats, chickens and any other creature wandering around. All-in-all, we had a great time while visiting and would definitely come back next time we are in NY.

There is also a half sandwich and soup option. We ordered a cheese steak and their signature apple ham and melted swiss cheese sandwich. The sandwiches were amazing due to their breads being freshly made there - super soft!Only come if you are not in a rush though as we waited awhile before they took our orders and us receiving the food. If we had a smaller group of 2 or 4 we could have sat at a table by their deck overlooking the scenic farm. I highly recommend families with children come here as they had various activities set up near the restaurant including a small haunted barn which was pretty spooky inside, a mining for gem activity ($5), corn maze ($5), petting zoo where you can buy pellets to feed the goats, and an indoor slide. We then drove up the hill where you can park near the entrance for apple picking. When I went, they had about 7 apple varieties. Although they didn't have the varieties that I'm used to seeing like Fuji and Asian pears, their prices are very reasonable. We only paid $5 for 8 apples! Before leaving, we also picked up a dozen apple donuts and half gallon of very sweet apple cider.

I had the Halupki soup, grilled cheese and a side of potato salad, also delish! Equally as wonderful were the staff members that got us a clean table, fast beverage service and food delivered fast. The atmosphere is adorable and for a shopper like me, lots of fun to look at the things for sale on the way out. We were going to pick apples, but got a little confused because it appeared that the route was closed off to the orchards. We might just not have known the routine, as it has been a few years since last picking adventure on the hill.

Okay, these were seriously good. When I showed up around 10:30 on a recent Saturday morning, the air smelled of freshly frying donuts. It's always a good sign. And while there were donuts on the counter, when I asked if I could get any hot donuts the clerk went into the back and pulled out some steaming hot specimens. That may not sound like such a big deal, but as we say in this part of the world, it's huge. Hot apple cider donuts are so much better than their room temperature version. Which isn't to say that just because a donut is hot, it will be good. I've had my share of hot and disappointing cider donuts too. The hot apple cider donuts at Boehm Farm were delightful. Perfect? No. But absolutely great. And if you're into exploring the farms and orchards in and around the Capital Region, it's definitely worth your time, as I would put this small, off the beaten path orchard, in the top third of the ones I've visited. Maybe even in the top quarter. More than anything, it makes me think. If Boehm Farm has been hiding in plain sight all these years, how many other excellent orchards remain to be discovered by those relatively recent arrivals to the region? Farms! We've got 'em. And you should visit and support as many of our regional growers as possible. Remember: no farms, no food. Plus, they are charming and magical places. Especially in the fall.

As I was held at check-out inside the building, an unnamed woman with no identification confronted me in an accusatory manner demanding to know what else we had picked. I told her everything we picked was on the counter. She asked what was in my car. I told her my patient, his rollator, and his mobility scooter. Not much else fits in a little KIA. She left me inside the building at the register and went out to my car. With no explanation to my startled patient, she began rooting through my car. He was alone and felt defenseless in a frightening situation. I don't know if I'll ever be able to get him to leave his house again for an outing like this. He is traumatized. Columbia County NY has many PYO options that are more friendly and less terrifying than this horrible place.

After reviewing the details more carefully, I found the overall value to be extremely disappointing. The total cost for a half beef share comes out to well over $15 per pound for bulk meat once everything is added up. That pricing includes a large amount of ground beef, roasts, and lower-value cuts, yet it is priced closer to boutique steakhouse rates than a traditional farm share. Even accounting for grass-fed practices, this is significantly higher than comparable farms offering transparent pricing and clear cut breakdowns. The "free freezer" is effectively built into the price, which feels misleading rather than a genuine bonus. A standard chest freezer costs a few hundred dollars retail, yet the per-pound meat cost remains far above market averages even after accounting for that. What concerns me most is the lack of clarity around true take-home weight, cut breakdowns, and how pricing compares to regional norms. Bulk buying is usually meant to offer better value and transparency. That is not the case here. I would strongly recommend that potential customers do the math carefully, compare with other local farms, and ask detailed questions before committing a large deposit. The marketing is polished, but the value simply does not match the price being charged. I decided to book it for a one night stay for mine and my husband's anniversary. This place is available to be booked on Airbnb with only two different options A tree house (closes in October and opens again sometime in the spring) or a Yurt (open year round) We felt the Yurt offered a little more comfort since I never Glamped before so that is what we went with. From the moment we arrived the goats were waiting at the gate for us and followed us to our Yurt. I suggest packing lightly because you are given a cart to bring all your stuff up and it's a small hike uphill. The yurt comes with purified water from a well, warm blankets, firewood for both the indoor and out door fire place, Complimentary smores, cooking tools and utensils, food to feed the goats and roosters, electricity that works for about 2-3 hours, an outdoor shower and an outhouse. There is no TV but I wound up getting great service out there on my phone. Before heading to the farm you place your food order beforehand online (menu is available on Airbnb) We went for the picnic basket and the Chili for dinner. These men use the freshest ingredients and I swear my husband and I are still talking about how fantastic the Chili and chocolate chip cookies were. BYOB when it comes to wine and beer. Check in is at 4pm and you have about 2-3 hours with the goats by your yurt before they leave for the evening to go to bed, but don't worry! They come back in the morning as you enjoy your complimentary farm breakfast and coffee delivered directly to your yurt. We had so much fun playing with and feeding the goats. It was overall an amazing night and I cannot wait to return again in the future.

The staff were super friendly and so were the animals. You reserve a timeslot in advance and get an hour of "goat cuddles" and you can walk with a whole herd of goats through the woods on trail, leading them with a food pail! If you don't want to walk, you can stay in the fenced area by the firepit where they also host goat yoga! We did not get to do yoga, but I guess the goats will climb on your back and hang out with you while you stretch! On our walk, we saw goats jump on trampolines and climb up into their tree house! This was all in all such a wholesome and fun experience. Great for families, couples, or even a friend outing. There are some other animals near the entrance but goats are the main deal here. I know from following them on social media that they do goat cuddle events as well. The baby goats are so cute!! I definitely can't recommend this place enough!
