LOVED THIS EXPERIENCE! So very much worth it. Kevin and Lindsay picked us up in their shiny new van (new car smell!) that could fit a family of rhinoceroses and from there we were off to the races for an evening of wine tastings and a homemade literal farm to table fried chicken dinner that was insanely delicious, overlooking the catskills. This is owned and operated by a farm-to-table-loving husband and wife team; they are both extremely affable and deeply informative on the surrounding areas and history of the Catskills. Learned some incredible facts: ask about the ford dealership that struck a deal with Henry Ford himself! There is some time in the van between tastings, as expected, but the views are gorgeous and the company was great. They have multiple tour options so we'd definitely do this again when we visit. In a world where we are so far removed from agriculture and where our food comes from, we were eager to meet farmers and learn about local family farms and how our food is produced locally. If you are looking for a unique Catskills experience, look no further than Table to Farm Tours in Roxbury, NY. Guests board a comfortable 15 passenger van for a tour of local farms with gorgeous scenery along the way. On our tour we visited several farmers - cows, pigs, dairy and produce, met the farmers and had a delicious lunch at the Catskills Regional Harvest cafe that served products from the farmers we met. We ended the day with a tour of a local distillery. Tours vary on different days and they offer custom tours, as well. Lindsay and Kevin share their knowledge of the area through a casual, yet informative narration between stops. At some stops, visitors are able to sample products raised, grown or produced at the location, but our favorite part was hearing from the farmers as they shared their passion for the products/animals and for the land. We met a first generation farmer, visited a multi-generational family farm with beef cows and pigs and a few miles away, met a herd of dairy cows (which all have names on their tags, not just numbers) and enjoyed a tour of their newly-renovated creamery where Cowbella butter is produced. The tours are a combination of a Catskills history review, a hands-on, up-close-and-personal lesson about the sustainable farm movement, the fun experience of stomping around a farm in mud boots (provided if you don't have them), sampling of products and a chance to meet local producers and makers - an opportunity seldom afforded the general public. And someone else does the driving! The air-conditioned van comes complete with coolers and tote bags for products you may purchase along the way, too. Tours range from family friendly day-tours to evening tours that include wineries and distilleries geared more towards adults. This would be a great activity for guests in the area for weddings. Lindsay and Kevin are onto something with the Catskills being ideal for the agri-tourism trend, but locals will enjoy the tours, as well! read more

Our experience with Table to Farm Tours was fantastic. The tour we went on allowed us to see wildly different farms (cheese, vegetables, livestock, vodka, flowers, and maple syrup). It's clear that the hosts (Lindsay and Kevin) have put a tremendous amount of thought into where they took us. This included an amazing lunch featuring produce and meat from farms on the tour! My husband and I stayed in the Roxbury, NY area for a month and chose to take the Sweet and Savory Table to Farm tour at the beginning of our stay to get to know a little more about the area, meet some of the farmers, and taste some of the local offerings. Let me tell you, this tour was everything we'd hoped for and so much more! The tour leaders Lindsay and Kevin were excellent guides of the area and shared a lot of knowledge about the history and suggestions for activities and restaurants to check out during our stay. The farmers and shop owners were obviously incredibly passionate about their trade and eager to share their knowledge and treats with the group. The lunch and tastings were excellent, plentiful, and well-timed throughout the trip. We even went back to visit a few of the sites we'd stopped at during the tour and would highly recommend those stops as well as the tour to anyone visiting the area! read more

What a great way to spend an evening! Kevin and Lindsay (the owners) picked us up in their new van, which was outfitted with great big windows so that we could see the countryside roll by. What a beautiful area! Going in a big circle from Roxbury, we stopped at a cidery, a distillery and a wonderful restaurant. The owners/operators of the cidery and distillery were clearly passionate about their work, and loved to share what they knew. Having flights of their wares helped us to understand the information they were imparting. The restaurant served food from local sources that was beautifully cooked. Kevin and Lindsay were terrific hosts. Lindsay provided commentary as we were driving, but the two of them also answered questions about life in the Western Catskills and the artisan culture that was growing in the area. There are, we are told, a lot of different tours, depending on the time of day and the what's available. We can't wait to go back and try a different one. Highly recommended. Ever since I first read Omnivore's Dilemma, I've wanted to know more about where our food comes from. On roadtrips through Texas, I've driven past the "bad" farms, the gigantic factories with scrawny, fly-covered animals hunched together, with cesspools the size of small lakes that you can smell from miles off. Those are not happy places, and they are not where I want my food to come from. But, until my tour with Table to Farm Tours, I'd never really seen one of "good farms" - the serene places with healthy animals blissfully munching on pasture. I'm grateful to Table to Farm for finally making it happen. Seeing these farms, you can't help but think, "This is right. This is how it was meant to be." On the tour we went to a cheese maker, where they milk their own cows to produce some of the best cheese you've ever tasted (try the samples and tell me I'm wrong). We went to a farm that reminded me of the biodynamic farm in Pollan's book, with all the animals living in synergy (I apologize for using that word, but there's really no better word for it). At another farm we learned about the cool and innovative methods they use to control pests and weeds. The lunch, by the way, made by a farmer who also happens to be a cookbook author, was delicious. Fantastic experience with Table to Farm Tour! We planned a weekend getaway from Westchester County NY that wasn't too far from home and something that we haven't experienced before. We decided to speed the weekend at Roxbury NY, and booked the 'Table to Farm Tour, an Upstate Experience' (https://www.tabletofarmtours.com/). We can't rave enough about this tour. For starters, our tour guides Kevin and Lindsay couldn't have been more attentive, knowledgeable and personable. We were picked up at the local general store which was located around the corner of our hotel. We were driven to each of the 5 stops on the 5-hour tour in a clean and roomy mini-bus. The tour started out with a breathtaking view of the Mine Kill Falls. My wife didn't have the proper shoes for the muddy terrain as it rained the night before, but that wasn't an issue as Kevin and Lindsay had a supply of rubber mud boots in many different sizes. We then visited 4 local family-owned farms in Schoharie county focusing on different products like livestock, Apple cider, maple syrup and gourmet cheese made on the dairy farm. We were able to speak directly with the farm owners as well as sample the fruit of their labors. As urbanites, it was extremely valuable to hear the owners' perspective on the challenges of running a family business in a rural county. By the end of the tour, we felt like we had made so many new friends, sampled delicious fresh farm items such as fresh maple syrup, fresh cheese, tasty apple cider and had a delicious lunch prepared by one of the farm owners with products home grown from their family farm. If you're planning your own visit, our tour was on a Saturday, we were picked up at 11 am and were back at the general store by 4:30 pm. Kevin and Lindsay have created a truly unique and enlightening experience, they are really onto something with this concept. They are expanding their business into Columbia county as demand has increased. If you are going to Roxbury in Schoharie or to Columbia county, we highly recommend this tour, you won't be disappointed!!! read more

This experience was unforgettable. We go to the Catskills regularly and found this tour to show us places we have never explored before. The opportunity to meet the farmers and hear about their sorry was so special- makes each trip back more meaningful. The history shared on the tour was also so interesting- makes us see the whole area in a different light. The little touches like the maps to follow along with and the chilled seltzers reflect how experience focused Lindsay and Kevin are. We had a fantastic day with Kevin leading a great day-long tour for us. The stops we made all day were terrifically complementary, with a range of different experiences, and a group of impressive, memorable farmers, a cheesemaker, vodka distiller, cidermaker, and maple syrup maker (sugarmaker), with immersion in a chicken coop, collection of eggs and feeding of pigs, and cattle (both cows and bulls). At each stop we were connected with a wonderful person who translated their life, work and field into accessible layman's terms for us, with each proving to be both generous and articulate. We were mesmerized at every point in our tour. Before, after and in between the series of stops around the region surrounding Roxbury, Kevin offered fascinating historical context for the area, and the current activities of each of our hosts. He was perhaps most generous of all, indulging our fascination with a great many stories and tidbits of information, and allowing almost every stop to continue overtime due to our interest, questions and the generosity of each host. The tour ended more than an hour later than we were promised, because of our hunger for time with each of the stellar hosts. A well-curated and managed tour. Amazing experience with Table to Farm Tours! What an informative day that gave us a "behind the scenes" insight to the farms and producers of the Catskills region. I'd been to most of the stops on our tour (I picked a day when family could join in even though those particular stops might have not have been my first choice since I regularly visit them) and honestly I didn't think I'd learn much. WRONG!!!! Wow, just stopping by for some veggies or cheese or vodka pales in comparison to the the intimate and personal experience that Kevin and Lindsay create for their tours. I learned so much and saw a whole other side to the farms and producers I thought I knew all about. Also, LOVED being chauffeured around in the comfortable and spacious van with a lovely group of folks that felt like old friends by the end of the day. What a delight! Looking forward to the next one we can do, especially one in the evening so we can have a glass or two of wine and not be concerned about driving.
