Today, I went to Pieology in Upland because I had a gift card. There was this Crumbl right next door, so I went over to get some dessert. I walked in and the only girl in the place was working on the cookies. I stood there, and she told me I had to use the screen to order, and I had to pay by card because they don't take cash. The surprising thing was that when I got to the end, the computer asked if I wanted to leave a tip. What service exactly was I supposed to tip for? The girl went over to a cabinet, put two cookies in boxes and handed them to me. This tipping culture is getting out of control. I refuse to tip when I get virtually no service, other than the product I'm getting. Two cookies were over $9. They were good, but I got some cookies from the Stater Bros. bakery recently, and they were just as good. I believe Crumbl is a fad. In this economy, not many people can afford $5 or $6 cookies. And with the minimum wage for their employees going up to $20 an hour, I would expect some service before I tip them anything. read more

I placed an order for pick up at around 2pm. My pickup window was 6:40-7:10. We got there at 7pm. The cookies weren't ready. They didn't actually hand me my cookies until after 7:40pm. I've never actually had any cookies from this location because both times I've gone inside they're sold out of half their cookies, and when I've checked on the app they're sold out, so I've never had the chance to actually get any cookies. The first time I went, a staff member told me I can check the app for when they restock a flavor and you can order then, or just wait a half hour. I chose neither and went to a different location that was fully stocked. The 2nd attempt I was getting one specific flavor, ordered online, showed up, clicked I'm here only to be told they're sold out of that cookie and even if you ordered online you can't get it unless you wait another 20 minutes for a new batch. The whole point of ordering ahead is to get the cookie you want and pick it up, not wait 20 minutes to restock it. They should've put the mobile orders to the side so they didn't run out. They offered to replace the flavor, no, I wanted that specific flavor. Then they decided to announce they weren't making any more of that one flavor the rest of the day. It was 3pm. They're open until midnight on Saturday. What a joke. Everytime I've checked the app to order here they're sold out of most of them, then when they restock on the app, apparently once you arrive to pick up your order, they'll still be out and refuse to make more. The only good aspect was the service. I ordered at the store on their tablets. I ordered four different cookies. In about 10 minutes they said that they run out of double-trouble and orange, and that I had to subsitute with something else. Really at 11 am they run out of product. The cookies are uncooked. They taste as sweet dough. The churro is awfull uncooked. The classic chocolate chip cookie is ok, but it could be better with more cooking. Turtle was also OK. The poor ladies working there were extremely nice. Well, if the product is not good, nothing can make the experience better. Plus, it is too expensive per cookie. Was in the center and noticed this little shop-had high hopes for a cookie worth talking about - walked in-there were about 5 cookies / flavors sitting out to choose from. My first thought was nobody can ruin a chocolate chip Cookie (my go to) boy was I wrong . I don't think I've ever bought a cookie in my life I couldn't make myself eat. Especially when it cost $4.70 for one cookie. After being asked way to many questions - just to buy a cookie. The clerk turns the screen around and asks me to choose an amount for a tip. Ok when I go out to dinner I tip at least 20 percent. People I'm buying (a) cookie. You didn't cater my party you sold me (a) cookie. If $4.70 isn't enough for one cookie I'm not sure what is. Also at that price your boss should be paying you enough. Give these girls a raise- the public doesn't owe it to them. I was highly disappointed when I took a bite and it was soggy in the middle.
