I was really in the mood for a great cookie, so I stopped by to try the double chocolate chip cookie. Based on the photos on the app and social media, I was expecting a big, thick, puffy bakery-style cookie. Instead, the cookie I received was pretty flat, thin, and only about 3 1/2 inches across. That said, once I took a bite, I was genuinely impressed. The cookie was gooey, rich, and packed with great chocolate flavor. It definitely tasted much better than it looked. One thing that was frustrating was the promotion they were advertising. There was a huge flashing sign saying you could get a free cookie if you joined the membership club, but the QR code was so tiny that my phone couldn't scan it. The code only flashed on the screen for a couple of seconds every several minutes, and it honestly didn't seem to work very well. In the end, I paid the $3.95 for my cookie and went on my way. $4 for a cookie is a little crazy I won't lie. I am a sucker for pumpkin spice flavor and it was my birthday so I gave Insomnia Cookies a shot! It was delicious and I savored every single bite. My husband who "didn't want any" was grabbing for the wrapper hoping there was some left (I did leave him 1/4 haha). They do have some over the top flavors but most of their cookies are regular size so don't expect a Crumbl. I thought their flavors were all very innovative and I was curious to try them if it wasn't for the price point. I think what took this experience to the next level though was the staff. This is a nice little cookie shop in a plaza. Looks clean, nice and simple inside. Service was fast and easy. Unfortunately, I just can't recommend this place too much. It's so expensive compared to alternatives unless you buy in bulk and even then it's not that great for the price. The cookie sandwich in my pictures was like $10! The taste is not a problem. The cookies are good and warmed up, the ice cream is good, but it's not like they're particularly special, even the deluxe ones. And four of them for $20? That's nuts when I can get cookies 3x the size at Costco or Mrs. Fields. The flavor variety is okay, but it's also locked behind a huge $6 price. After picking up a couple poke bowls from Poke Dot at Claremont Village, I was heading back to my car. I turned my head and saw Insomnia Cookies. I was like... no way... way... it's here in So Cal! I got a chance to share my 1st visit story with the young lady behind the counter. She was very nice. She recommended their special buy 1 dozen for $24.00 compared to regular price at $30+... you're basically getting a couple cookies for free. Yes, price is a little on the higher side per cookie, but hey, it's okay to indulge just a little bit at times. I went with the dozen of all classic cookies. Yes, I tried all of them. My favorites are chocolate mint, oatmeal, and white chocolate macadamia. I can't say there were any least favorites, but if I had to pick one, it would be the M&M chocolate... way too sweet! Overall, they were all very yummy. They just opened a month ago. Come on out and pick up some Insomnia Cookies after midnight, but before their closing time at 1:00 AM! They were out of 2/3 specialty flavors after just opening. I tried to get the 12 pack with classic and specialty cookies and the cashier said I couldn't do that but it lets you do that online with an upcharge. There's only two tall seats indoors, very small space. The restroom is locked and says it's not for public use. There aren't many late night sweet/dessert shops in the area, so I was excited to hear insomnia cookies opened up here. The shop is centrally located but if you can't get there, they also do deliveries. I went just before 9pm and it wasn't super busy but there was good traffic. The cashier was great explaining the options to me and also to address our concerns about allergens. There were a few fall specials available but the one I really wanted was sold out. So I went with the classic chocolate chunk. The deluxe sized cookies looked way too big! I don't have gourmet tastes for cookies. My only requirement is that they are soft and melty and this cookie fit the bill. They keep the cookies warm until served and it was very warm and melty. My husband said it was too sweet and I agree, but it won't put me off from having more. It would have been perfect with milk, which you can order as well. You can also have it with ice-cream but I think it would be way too sweet. It's not the best cookie I have had but pretty good and I would buy again. The store isn't really for hanging out for a long time. The seating is only a bar table and some stools. I think you're just meant to quickly finish the cookies or get a box and leave, which is what most folks did. We were the only ones who ate in the store. I wonder how the cookies would taste cold since they do seem quite proud that the cookies were warm and soft till served. read more
