    Strawberry Fields Cheesecake
    Lisa F.

Cheesecake to die for!!! I got one plain and one that was marbled with chocolate. Scrumptious and VERY addictive (couldn't put down the fork!)

They have several cheesecake options, we liked the strawberry fields and lemon curd one. Nice round shape for by the slice. Would come back try their other flavors as well. Easy to share and the smaller pieces are perfect for sampling.

I cant believe I'm just finding out about this place. When I say everything I've tried is so good. I mean everything. My favorite breakfast item is the avacado toast with the egg white. The chicken sausage is fire. The jam he makes is the best I ever had. Ive had the strawberry lemon cheesecake 10/10. His cookies are good as well. Great customer service. I definitely recommend checking it out.

The best cheesecakes I've had in Oakland. Got the strawberry and lemon as two "mini" birthday cakes. Looked elegant with some gold candles, and my partner absolutely loved the presentation and taste. I honestly can't think of a better cheesecake I've had in Oakland. It was decadent but not too rich; you still want more and more. The balance of flavors was perfect. The cookie layer was divine and maintained their crisp even a day later. The candied fruit -- strawberry and lemon peel -- were executed masterfully in terms of flavor balance and texture. These details represent how much care they put in. I highly recommend the strawberry and lemon cheesecakes. I wanted to get the banana pudding but it was sold out for the day. I bet it's phenomenal and can't wait to try it out. They also offer large, full-sized cheesecakes, breakfast sandwiches, and more. I imagine it's a delicious breakfast/brunch spot. Theres a bit of seating inside. The gentleman who helped me was friendly and helpful with recommendations. Free street parking was a breeze to find on a Saturday afternoon. You can really feel the passion and care in every ounce of each cheesecake. Treat you and your loved ones and enjoy the amazing cheesecakes here. (Just leave some banana pudding for me.)

    I Love New York Cheesecake

I was looking for a good cheesecake in the East Bay for my boyfriend's birthday cake, since he is a big fan of cheesecake. I relized this place had actulally been on my want to go list for a whle with a note saying "NY Cheesecake", so I decided to give it a try! I ordreded their "I Love New York Cheesecake" online three days in advance and picked it up in the store. The whole process was smooth and easy. Once I placed the order, I got a comfirmation email right away. The cheesecake is smooth, with dense cream cheese filling with a hint of fresh lemon and Madagascar vanilla on a buttery shortbread crust. The cake tasted amazing, and I'll definitely be back to try their other flavors in the future!

Gross! We picked up an order and it was FULL of maggots! We were so excited to try this place out :(

I love love this place. The owner is amazing, the food is always amazing. The menu is constantly changing with the seasons. I have to stop by anytime I am in the neighborhood. If you haven't been, run dont walk and get you some delicious treats to eat and share, dont be greedy, share the love.

    Strawberry shortcake

I walked in at about 10:30 am on a Friday and asked if it was possible to make a strawberry shortcake by the evening. My brother was in town and it's a tradition for him to have strawberry shortcake in his bday. Charles said of course...and it was a hit. Great to have a local spot that can do custom orders (though I should probably try to give him more notice next time).

    Warm Cinnamon Rolls
    Kelly L.

Ive been wanting to try this place for so long but was disappointed with my first visit. Came today on a Sunday and it was clear they were understaffed with a lot of customers, seemed like it was just the owner working plus one person in the back making all the orders. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with bacon and also the cinnamon rolls. When the breakfast sandwiches were ready I heard him call out one with bacon and one with ham even though me and the other customer both ordered bacon. We both said we ordered bacon and he seemed confused. He gave one box to the customer who had ordered before me and then he handed me a box. I specifically asked him if this was bacon because that is what I ordered and he responded "yes", turns out it was not bacon like I had suspected and it was ham, which I do not like. It was already too late cause I was already on my way home. He should have asked the worker in the back to remake my sandwich or at least swap out the ham with bacon but he did not. Disappointed, it was already a longer wait (which I don't mind waiting) but I didn't get what I asked and paid for. In total I spent $35 (including tip) for an order of two small cinnamon rolls and a breakfast sandwich with the wrong meat. Disappointed, I won't be coming back. Wish I had a better experience here because I saw so many good reviews.

    Vietnamese coffee
    Jasmine Y.

Came here for the first time! Greeted with a warm smile and very friendly guy. At first we were only looking to have some coffee but I am glad I had the pastry last second. The pistachio croissant was so nice and crispy on top, and it was very generous with the filling in the middle. It was nicely sweetened, but not too sweet! So nice to share with a person or two! I ordered the cold brew and the Vietnamese coffee. My only issue would probably be the coffees and if it wasn't for the pastry, I would probably give this place a 2 or 3 star. The coffee cans I saw on shelf are definitely the beans/grinds used in Vietnamese coffee, but the milk used was not right. Vietnamese coffee is more thick -- with condensed milk and very concentrated espresso/coffee. This one was not strong and pretty watered dow. The one I got today resembled nothing of viet coffee, and I was a little let down.

    Scones & coffee cake muffins
    Kalkidan A.

I picked up a few pastries here on a Wednesday morning. It wasn't too busy and it's a cute little bakery. This is what I tried with my family and we all gave the items very similar ratings. All in all great place, I'll be back to try more items. Coffee cake muffins 10/10 - this was SO delicious. The muffins was the dense and moist. You could taste spices like cardamom which I love. It was just so good, perfect to pair with coffee or tea. Butter peace croissant 10/10 - this was buttery and flaky and tasted like an elevated cinnamon roll. I Quiche 6/10 - I had the become gruyère cheese. The flavor was really good so I kept eating it but it was SO salty it was very difficult to eat. If the salt was adjusted this would be delicious. Cherry scone 5/10 - the didn't have the texture of a scone to me, it was more cake on the inside than crumbly + I didn't really like the flavor.

    Quiche Lorraine
    Felinn A.

Very cute and quaint place on the Main Street in oakland. Heard about this place off of tik tok and it didn't disappoint! Our favorite menu item was the cinnamon rolls, which came out warm and fresh with a super gooey center, sauce and frosting. Very heavy on the orange flavor if you enjoy that. Along with that we got the quiche Lorraine and veggie quiche both yummy when warmed up that was accompanied by a salad. The veggie quiche reminded me of a ratatouille x ravioli dish. Sat inside to eat and the owner was very welcoming and descriptive with all his items! Very kind and helpful. Only thoughts were I wish there was a way to read/view the baked goods/pastries for sale, and that the cinnamon roll was featured for more people to know about. As someone walking in with no prior knowledge they would be greatly missing out!

Everything was sinfully divine. Stopped in for breakfast and it was the right move. Cinnamon Roll - a gooey bread pudding-like situation. Breakfast Sammie's - the biscuit, the bbq sauce, the hefty egg Carrot loaf Coffee cake muffin Chicken and fig sandwich - schmaltzy Coming back for Thanksgiving pick up. Owner was also so gracious and patient with our 3 kids taking their sweet time to order.

Can you just go into the store and buy a cheesecake? Are they fresh or frozen when purchased at the Berkeley store or farmers market?

Yes at the Oakland farmers market on Lakeshore we have them ready to purchase you can swing, by this morning at 9 to 2 to select any of our Cheesecakes.…

Thanks you Charles, can they also be purchased at the main store in Berkeley during business hours?

The moment you walk into the shop, you'll notice the current flavor offerings displayed on colorful ice cream-shaped signs across the wall to the right. I could spend an eternity studying each flavor, but there's limited space to queue indoors so really gotta decide on a flavor and serving style fast in order to keep the line moving. Among the flavors were some classics, fruity/floral mixes, and dessert-inspired ones too, a whole range so there's something for everyone. I got the Breakfast Brownie and it was unforgettable! It tasted creamy and delightful without being overwhelming, while the cornflakes mixed inside added a satisfying crunch to each bite. I came back a second time before a show at Crybaby, a smaller venue across the street. Grabbing a scoop here to-go has naturally become part of my pre-concert routine at this point and I plan to come back again next time to explore more flavors. If you're ever heading to a show nearby, I'd definitely recommend stopping by beforehand for a lil energy boost and treat.

I was surprised that no one spoke of business specifics in their reviews. There is a limit to how many can come in; and you are not allowed to touch anything when inside. There are also no prices listed anywhere. We thought this was odd. Our order: * Personal Peach Cobbler * Walnut Brownie * Banana Pudding For these 3 items, our total was over $25. The service was friendly but a bit awkward. You are only able to see cases of dessert options, it is more of a pick-up point, not so much a bakery location you can browse. I wouldn't suggest coming as a large group, there is no where to sit to enjoy your baked goods and parking is very difficult. While the cobbler and banana pudding were good, I wasn't a fan of the brownie. My partner enjoyed the cobbler a lot, but when we did the calculations, the prices were astronomical. I'm not sure what gourmet difference the items contained, but we likely would not come back to this bakery considering prices and parking. The location is cute, in theory, but with no actual location or displays, or price lists- what you pay for doesn't balance out. The lack of transparency for prices was very sus to us. I'm sure the business will continue on especially with how much they charged. I can't imagine the bakery location and building rent costing a lot as far as operating costs; as it is small, and not expansive at all. The price of the baked goods doesn't even go towards branded packaging. Which could be understandable. The only beverages available that I seen was Nesquik. Steep prices with no justification - especially when you have other bakeries in the area, in addition to Nation's for Pies, very affordable and classic as well. E&J's has a great banana pudding and cobbler as well for $6- they are also a Black-owned business and family operated. Absolutely no bad intent, just wanting to share transparency in my review so Yelpers know that prices are not listed, which means they are subject to fluctuation- in this economy that is not a fair way of doing business. One star per item we liked, for this review. As much signage is visible upon entry regarding rules and limited persons for entry at a time- not one area provided prices; only signs that tell you not to touch. It's required by law for prices at every establishment to be listed, according to SB 478 for general consumer goods and services in California.

Overall, it's been a good experience every time. Parking can be challenging depending on the time of day. Most of the parking is on the street, so you'll need to keep an eye out for pedestrians and bicyclists while looking for a spot. That's probably the biggest inconvenience of visiting this place. There is usually a 15 to 20-minute wait whenever we come for dessert, but we've always been seated within the quoted wait time, which we appreciate. The restaurant itself is fairly small, so the dining area can feel crowded. Tables are very close together, and you're practically sitting back-to-back with other guests. Because of this, the noise level can get pretty high, and it's easy to overhear conversations from nearby tables. The desserts are the highlight here. The BingSu is excellent, and the lava cake is one of our favorites. The menu is accessed through a QR code, making ordering simple and convenient. Food portions are decent, although prices are definitely on the premium side. Service is efficient, and the food and desserts usually arrive pretty quickly. We used to go to their city location regularly, but over the years we've found ourselves visiting this location more often because the area feels more comfortable and convenient for us. That has made this our go-to spot whenever we're craving dessert. Overall, this is a great place for dessert. The quality of the desserts keeps us coming back, but the difficult parking situation and cramped seating prevent it from being a full 5-star experience. It's intense, smoky, and unique..maybe not one I could finish in one sitting, but definitely memorable and recommend for those who want that earthy/smoky taste. The truffle was also a standout, adding just enough umami to round out the sweetness. Preorders drop via Instagram (@basukucheesecakes) and sell out lightning-fast. Otherwise, plan to line up for slices! Wishing Basuku all the best on their next chapter. Fingers crossed for a return to the Bay someday! Until then, don't miss your chance to try what might be the best cheesecake you've ever had.

Bad Walter's was a random find one day out walking after dinner. The funny name and logo drew us…read morein, then once we saw it was ice cream, AND dairy free, we were IN. We have been extremely loyal customers ever since. They rotate flavors, but through many months and many visits I don't think I've ever tried a bad one. The flavors are also very fun, not your typical cookies and cream, cookie dough, etc. Although they do have a plain version sometimes. The employees are very helpful and kind letting you sample the flavors. Our absolute favorite is tinky winky- ube flavored ice cream with honey comb pieces. They also sell points to the side- take advantage. You'll want more when you're done! The ambiance and vibe of bad Walter's is perfect. Bright colors, disco ball dripping, fun sayings on the cups, the whole 9 yards. The take home pint we got has Reddit "hate" comments and their responses, it's hilarious. This ice cream store is way more of a vibe than any marketing agent could dream of. Who would've thought I wish I could be a rep for an ice cream company? Oh and they also do a stamp card when you buy pints to get a free scoop. You bring in the containers so they can recycle them. It's a win win for both sides, loves it. Best ice cream ever!!!

There are so many inventive options on any given day, and there are always exciting new ones to try at each visit! I was inspired to finally write a review after hearing about some weirdos getting up in arms about a correctly-named ice cream inspired by a local legend, but to be honest this review was long overdue regardless because the ice cream really is worth it. If you're sensitive to lactose at all (even short of being intolerant), you'll most likely notice a difference in how good you feel after eating Bad Walter's compared to other dairy ice creams. I talk about this place to friends all the time, I don't think you can go wrong with anything they have here. Highly recommend subscribing to Sydney's newsletter to get the inside scoop (haha) on the goings-on behind the scenes plus getting the first look at the weekly menu, because sometimes the one on the website isn't updated as often!

I originally came in for Dubai inspired chocolate pistachio cheesecake but was instead greeted so warmly by head pastry chef Nile! She is full of life and so passionate about her baked goods. I almost wanted to buy one of everything after hearing about each item. Desserts: *Blueberry Ube Cheesecake *Pistachio Ricotta Cake *Dubai Pistachio Chocolate Cake with Biscoff Cookie Butter *Red Velvet Cheesecake Cup Nile just baked the Dubai cake and mentioned she would have a slice for herself that night. It was sweet and decadent for sure. Definitely perfect for sharing! I loved the blueberry ube cheesecake and so did Mom! I was looking for my leftovers and they disappeared from the fridge. Creamy and slightly fruity with that thick buttery crust-- amazing! Pistachio Ricotta cake was light and moist. Perfect when you want something delicately sweetened for tea time. Red Velvet cheesecake cup was just ok for me due to the cheesecake frosting. I think I would've preferred a whole slice of cake instead. This bakery kiosk is a part of Turkish-Mediterranean restaurant Moussaka. Interior has the cutest cafe tables and chairs. Love the grey with baby pink + mint green color scheme. Step inside and go directly to the dessert display to place an order. They're also on DoorDash. Can't wait to see what Chef Nile comes up with next!
