The mochi rice balls with sesame paste and black sticky rice were also great. The Taro Balls No. 5 was good as well. I swapped the taro mud for sweet potato mud and added a side of black sticky rice. I also tried the coconut pudding, but it wasn't my favorite. Coconut lovers would probably enjoy it more; it was just a bit too creamy for me. The restaurant was bright, not too big, but comfortable. The mango sago is really good! The flavor isn't overwhelming strong and it taste like eating a bowl of cereal interesting enough. But once you get to the mango it's really fresh! You also get to add as many or as little toppings as you like. The Chocolate Oreo is delicious and fluffy and light chocolate. The service is pretty fast and your order comes out between 5-10 mins. The only thing I didn't like was the pudding the flavor was not the best so I wouldn't recommend it. I believe I got a bean and almond flavor. read more

The store was maybe half full when we came Friday evening around 6 pm, but by the time we left it was fully packed. Seems to be a popular hang out spot for the local kids and families. Honestly the menu has almost too many options for dessert. We both spent a good 10+ minutes flipping through all the pages before finally deciding on what we wanted. It was quite overwhelming. I finally settled on the sesame paste and walnut paste ($7.25) while my friend got the mango pomelo coconut pudding ($5.50). My review is of just their egg puff since I have yet to try their boba. There is space for around 20 people to sit in the dessert place, but most people seemed to get their food to-go in the time that I was waiting there. I ordered their normal egg puff, and they made it fresh right in front of me. The portion size made sense with the price, and I enjoyed the texture of the puff along with the sweetness. Because it was fresh, the egg puff was slightly crumbly, but only breaking by the different puffs. I'd love to try their boba in their future since they are also know for their drinks. read more

It's not a huge space but has some setting and is a good place for traditional hot and cold Chinese desserts. When I've gone I've ordered some of the cold desserts, Chinese shaved ice (bing su) or their cold mango dessert. They have Chinese dessert soups which are good and not too sweet. They have cakes on their menu but I've never tried those. My wife and I also like their egg puffs, which are made using a waffle-like machine but also uses a different batter. Went here on a Friday night and it was crowded but we were able to get a spot in the booth! There are 4/5 booths and two high chairs for seating. They have a ton of desserts options. Since they announced their closure in Daly City, I've been on the hunt for another one ("Anotha One")...anyways, a friend recommended UC in Chinatown Oakland and I was glad to have made a trip. I ordered the Black Sticky Rice w/Chia and Mango. This dessert was very comforting because the ice was shaven delicately and it melted perfectly with the milky goodness oozing down your throat. If you're a rice guy and enjoy ripe mangoes, I'd definitely recommend this basic dessert. I could tell that their specialty was their "cold" dishes. On the other hand, I also ordered the Matcha Mochi Egg-Puff. It was exactly as described and the matcha flavors did have that medium bitterness to it (does that mean its genuine matcha!?! lol). I didn't care too much about the taste of the mochi tucked inside each puff. I thought that the egg-puff could have done without the mochi. I'd pronbably be more impressed if it had cream or custard inside idk......In fact, I've been giving up on egg-puffs (and waffles) since it's rare to have something that keeps me coming back for more. UC's quality is awesome but I personally wouldn't order anything else other than their cold, ice desserts. The service was rather efficient since I used the online kiosk at front. Cute and comforting asian dessert place in oakland chinatown! Came with two friends on a Wednesday evening. It was not very crowded and parking was easy to find. We were seated to eat at a booth and ordered from the menu. The employees were super nice and attentive. They have a big variety of desserts. The quality hasn't changed much in the 5+ years I've been going. It's not the "best" but it absolutely hits the spot. The desserts are especially yummy when the fruits are in season, so do expect some more tart/sour flavors if mangoes and strawberries and the like aren't in season. For less than $10, you can get a pretty filling bowl of things like QQ mochis, grass jellies, fruit, sago, etc. The variety also means that it's hard to get sick of the menu because there's almost always something new to try/a new combo to experiment with. At first we were seated right away but after we ordered a waffle, fried chicken, and mango sticky rice sago, we waited over an hr and saw everyone got food but not us!
