My first visit. Good service and good sandwiches. One small problem... We were charged $23 for a glass of wine. My sister didn't read the wine list carefully enough, evidently, but there was a difference between the wine list and the board. We knew we were ordering an expensive glass of wine, but the charges are obscene. My sister is from California's wine country and was aghast!!! We live in Clovis, where vegetarian options are lacking. On a whim we decided to try this place. As a rule I don't expect much when trying new restaurants as they often have very little for me to eat. I was in for a very pleasant surprise. The bf and I went for dinner. Tyler was our waiter. He was very friendly and entertaining. The dinner menu was small but the wine and beer list was impressive! Tyler helped me pick out a dry white (don't remember brand) and I enjoyed it immensely. Boyfriend had the Crush Burger sans onions, I had the veggie burger. We shared a Crush salad and macaroni and cheese for the appetiser. Service was rather slow at first and my enthusiasm was beginning to wane. (But in all fairness, I'd barely had anything to eat at all day.) Overall, dinner was an amazing experience! The mac and cheese was small, but it was so rich that the portion they gave you was just right. The Crush salad had the perfect amount of dressing and we both loved the gooey, crispy-friend cheese rolls on top. Boyfriend's burger was cooked just the way he liked it. My only complaint was the side for my burger: the "pecarino truffle" fries tasted oddly like generic shoestring fries with parmesan cheese on top. They were also a tad bit overcooked. Next time I think I'll order the sweet potato fries that came with my date's meal-- they were flavourful. If you're looking for a friendly, smoke-free atmosphere, top-notch wine, above average service, and delicious food at a reasonable price, Crush is the place for you. I came here with my husband last night. He frequents this place when he has work events in Amarillo and actually asked me to make the trip to Amarillo so he could take me here. (We live in Lubbock). We arrived around 7pm (just before the rush) and were seated at a 2 top near the cash register, next to the large glass wall of wine bottles. We were both disappointed to experience the service wasn't really that great.They offer a ton of wines and beers, but it was hard to read the beer list (it was dark and the writing was small and across the room) and they don't bring a list to your table. We also didn't get a lot of guidance from our waitress. She seemed more concerned on rushing us out than serving us. We finally settled on two porters (Husband got the Fosters and I got the other one...can't remember the name...I liked his better anyway...that always happens.) We ordered the jalapeno quail appetizer. It was presented beautifully, but I didn't think it was anything to write home about (or write Yelp about). We finally got bored and left for Napoli's. Perhaps it was an off night or perhaps it was being accustomed to better wine bars in Lubbock (La Diosa/The Funky Door), but this wasn't my cup of tea...or should I say glass of wine? read more

What a pleasant surprise for a small town in the heart of Texas! A storefront restaurant with a wonderful menu and extensive wine and beer list, with lots of beers and numerous wines on tap. The decor is very pubby, with some beautiful cabinets lining the back of the bar, filled with a beautiful collection of glassware. The staff are helpful and chatty, and the service very prompt. I travel from Colorado to Mississippi including Denver, Dallas, New Orleans, etc. This place is a pleasant unexpected find in the middle of Amarillo. I can't comment on the wine since I am generally a whiskey and beer drinker, but their wine selection is impressive. They make the claim that they are the best-stocked place from Amarillo to OKC. The place probably has 75 beers available; they had a keg of Dogfish 120 on hand (!); Maredsous 8 (yum!). I got turned on to a new brewery: Santa Fe Brewing Company (Java Stout). There was one guy with close-cropped hair (didn't catch his name) who was very passionate about his beer and very up to speed on the BeerAdvocate web site (recommended the Deschutes Obsidian). He even gave me a sample of Ale to the Chief which changed my opinion of the President. Crush also has an excellent menu; I tried the trout with puréed sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Top notch My only frustration with Crush: I wanted to try, for example, the Dogfish Raison D'Etre and they were out. But most places would not even have it, and I compensated with others. If you are in Amarillo and like beer or wine or great food, you have got to give this place a try. If they got a license for whiskey I would make up reasons to come back to Amarillo. read more

The pizza is great. The rest of the menu is overpriced and inconsistent. Sandwiches meh. Fries were cold. Bun not too good. Just not worth $14. Stick with the pizza and happy hour wine and you'll have a nice meal. Anything else will probably arrive cold because it sat too long . Not a good experience'. Started with nobody working the front to check in. Eventually 2 girls arrived to only talk amongst themselves and eventually look up to see we were waiting. Once we were shown to a table, it was dirty. We stood and waited for the hostess to find a wet rag to wipe it off, which she left the table wet. We used our own napkins to dry the table. We then ordered 2 drinks and 2 appetizers. After some time, we were told they were out of 1 of the drinks and no hummus. So I ordered a basic drink. Was asked what type liquor. I gave that preference. After a time I was told they were out of that. I then said, just pick one. The drink arrived after we finished the appetizer. We were scared to stay for main course so we just asked for the bill. This is when I found out I was charged an up charge on the drink I left up to the waiter due to lack of items they had. We were driving through Amarillo on our way to Colorado and found this place. AMAZING wines, EXCELLENT service, great food. Our waiter was Alan and he was attentive, funny and engaging. The only drawback was the hideous person seated at the table next to us that had that loud, grating cackle of a laugh, constantly cursed and showed the world exactly why she was still single (as she was complaining about all her bad dates). Restaurant management should probably be on the lookout for people like this and find a way to gently tell them to bring it down a notch. Still, if you are in Amarillo, don't miss this little Mecca of civility and higher level food and service. read more

We had a rehearsal dinner for 50 people in the private room at Crush. Brian was great to work with and met our every need. The selection of wines and craft beers was outstanding and complimented the wonderful food. The staff was very professional and provided excellent service. Many of the guests came up to me afterwards to let me know how great the food was and what a fun time they had. I would HIGHLY recommend Crush. read more
