We were staying in McMinnville and Sherry was kind enough to pick us up from our airbnb. The tour ended up being just the three of us so that was a nice surprise. She drove us out to Carlton and we went to three different and very cool wineries. Sherry also took many photos of us throughout the tour and posted on her FB. At stop 2 she provided us a snack lunch of spinach dip, breads, cookies, and fruits which was lovely. Weeks before our trip began, Sherry went out of her way to help us plan the perfect day -- recommending wineries based on our preferences and arranging a perfectly-timed itinerary that allowed us to visit four wineries with wonderful views/Pinot. She promptly picked us up from our AirBnB in McMinnville. She was kind enough to take photos of us throughout our relaxing day, and she was incredibly knowledgeable about the Willamette Valley region and wines. The van that she transported us in was very spacious for our group. She provided us with water bottles, a special sweet treat and allowed us to charge our phones. Most importantly, she was extremely kind and a pleasure to spend time with. We so appreciated everything and can't recommend her enough!

We were part of a small group tour a couple of days before and visited the large wineries... We were not at all impressed with the wines. THEN, we went with Will. He knew where we had been and took us to wineries that are the real thing. Small wineries with crafted wine. Not large wineries with nice buildings and some wine.... Will seemed to read our taste in wines and tailored the entire day to match our tastes. He was so knowledgeable and interested in sharing that knowledge, it made for a perfect experience. Michael was the chef, and his presentations rival any Michelan rated chef. We had a four course tasting menu, and 5 wines, with bonus desserts at the end.  Every course was beautiful and delicious. Michael explains each food course, while our host Jessica explains the wine it is being prepared with. There wasn't a course that wasn't anything less than exceptional. However, if we had to choose, the real standout was the corn with winter mushrooms. The presentation looked like corn on the cob, but underneath there was a delicious creamy polenta, that surrounded by seasonal mushrooms.  We were informed that Chef Michael changes the menu regularly so no two experiences will be the same.

I'll pick up a $6 from the grocery store and call it good. I go tasting every once in a while, but I don't get into the whole "notes of this" "nice nose" kinda stuff. But I will have the occasional $50-80 bottle as a treat. That being said, I got the first wine (I think it was a Pinot gris? Just a white wine) on the flight, looked at my friend (who's a winemaker) and said "this thing has notes of wet dog and sewage". She agreed. I couldn't drink it and it burned the back of my throat when I tried it. The second wine (rose) had notes of sulfur and also burned . It was easier to drink but not great. The Pinot noir was the best, I could actually drink it. Though I've had cheaper bottles that tasted better. It was very watery and didn't have much body to it. The Pinotage was very disappointing. It had too much salinity. I know that the winery was just bought out from the previous owner so they're probably just stuck with whatever he made. I'd like to come back in a couple of years to try some things that the new owners make! I didn't get to try their food, but it did look amazing. Again, service was great and very helpful, but the wine was just...not it.
