Since you can pay to go to just one or all of the attractions, this seems fair. I'll base this review solely on my experience with The Crypt. The Crypt has nice props and F/X throughout and that's really about it. No scare factors for us hardcore Halloween & horror fans, and no thrills. It was kind of just like, oh wee... Look at the cool display. That's it. If you an 8 year old kid, or just an easily frightened person, you'll love it. However, if you're on a budget (or time schedule) and can't afford to do all of the attractions, so you're wondering which of the 3 you should pick, choose this one; it is by far the best of the 3. Located in the Fiesta Mall parking lot (which is typically a dead giveaway for impending lameness), right off of US-60 and Alma School Rd. Plenty of free parking. I read somewhere that the Crypt/Asylum was one of the better haunted houses in Arizona. While I can't say that I've visited a lot of haunted houses, I'd be really disappointed if this was the best. With that said, in full disclosure, every year I always long to go to a legitimate haunted house such as Haunted Hoochie in Ohio, Dead of Night in New York, ScareHouse: Basement in New York, The Cult in New Hampshire, Blackout in California, and the Freakling Bros: Victim Experience III in Nevada. These are not the type of haunted houses that people jump out of a dark corner and startle you... these are haunted houses that make you walk in alone, in the dark, may abduct you, may force you to watch certain things (no hiding your eyes), and will certainly put their hands on you. So needless to say... any haunted house that simply tries to startle you isn't going to do it for people like me. With that said, the people who are simply looking to walk into a dark room and be startled and/or have an excuse to break their boyfriend's hand... this is a fine place to visit. Even if it is not a super scary place it is a nice place to get into the spirit a little more than you would without it. In 2015 there was an express line that would cost you an extra $10 on top of your ticket. This line had nobody in it. The main line will net you an hour wait for each house. It isn't super bad to wait as they have people going around in the crowd and scaring people as well as a movie with scary movies playing on it so it seems to go fast. Your feet may not agree with it feeling fast, but you'll have to decide on whether or not the extra cost is worth it. PRO TIP: Look on Groupon at the beginning of the season and see if this place is included. I think we paid $35 for two tickets on Groupon and when we got there the tickets were $40 for one ticket. read more

We just got back from here tonight and we couldn't stop talking about how much fun we had! I'm 29 and my SO is 32. We've been attending haunted Halloween attractions annually since we were in elementary school, and we've been to different ones in different parts of the country. We've been to really disappointing attractions and really mind-blowing ones. We're not people who scare easily, but we love horror-related anything and have to check it all out. Here's why we loved The Crypt: -It's a GOOD deal! It's $25 for 3 attractions. It wasn't super crowded and we maybe waited 15 minutes max at one of the lines. I realize this could change but I wouldn't recommend getting the fast passes because $25 was definitely a deal and cheaper than other Halloween attractions in the area. Oh and parking is free! (It's in the parking lot of Mesa Community College.) -There are THREE attractions! One is The Asylum, which has trick doors where you can get lost. Has a medical motif, but still mixed it up with some other creepy themes. Asylum was definitely our favorite. Then there's Chaos, which is a clown-themed maze, and you have no idea where to go or what's going to appear in front (or behind) you. And there's The Crypt. It was kind of a smorgasbord of themes that didn't fit into the other two. It was paced really well-- you didn't feel hurried or pushed through and spent time enough to feel a little uneasy and pursued. Cheap thrills and jumps, and some were genuinely creepy. They got us a number of times and we left each one laughing our a$$es off being chased by an actor. -The actors were passionate! Plenty made us genuinely laugh and a good number creeped us out. I was surprised since we went a little later in the night that they still were high energy and clearly going out of their way to give us a good experience. We couldn't stop commenting to each other about a few actors that really stood out to us. -Like I mentioned above, short lines, wait times weren't bad at all. -They ensure that you only go into each attraction with a small group. This is important because going in large groups has definitely ruined our experiences at other attractions in past years. -There were all different age groups in attendance to the attractions and it looked like everyone was having a great time. I'd say the largest age group was 20s-30s. -The overall attraction is more intimate and not oversaturated, and I feel like that makes it more desirable. We chose this over 13th Floor and Fear Farm because we know the lines at those places were going to be long, the tickets more expensive, and the actors are going to be tired out, and the groups you'll go through the houses with will be big. So we went to The Crypt instead and we did not regret it. Definitely recommend this place for a night out that you won't regret :) read more

I would honestly give 2 1/2 stars if possible and here is why. 1.Parking is crazy. Once you park you have to back out of the lane because there is only one way to go. 2. List 3 haunted houses but honestly 2 1/2 and that is stretching it. The Maze part (Chaos) at the end is not worth the wait- and you have to wait in line even if you have a fast pass which we had. The props in the first and best attraction was "The crypt" and worth a visit. I would have them expand that haunted house and ditch the other two. If you want to try it go with the Fast pass. read more

For a haunted house located in the parking lot of a mall it was quite awesome. Last minute decision decided to go check it out with my mom. Reading the reviews looked like the Crypt was the only decent house but for $8 more we decided to get a ticket for all three. Went to the Asylum first. The female "patient" @ the door never once broke character. Semi annoying but def my favorite. Have to say the Asylum for me was the best. A lot longer than it looked or expected. The maze one was ok. Got a lil lost in the tarps. And the last one we walked thru the crypt was freaky bc it was pitch black in most areas and couldn't see a thing. But the Asylum was awesome filled with trap doors and dead ends. Felt like we were going in circles then found ourself in a whole new room. They did a great job with these. I def recommend checking it out at least once. read more

The Crypt is a great haunted house, even if it is in the parking lot of a mall. There are 2 houses and a maze. The maze is not all that great in my opinion. But both the Crypt and the Asylum are fun to go through. Like all haunted houses your experience can vary depending on when you go through the line - timing is everything. But we've been a couple times now (this year and last) and got a few good screams in both so we were happy. It's good halloween fun and nothing too scary for older kids. read more

Went tonight, surprised my boyfriend with tickets. I'm a horror junkie, and also appreciate set design more than anything. The set design in these attractions was great. If you aren't too busy running through the attractions screaming, please take the time to admire all the props and settings if you can. The Asylum was the best design-wise. I also appreciate that each scare wasn't just jumping out from behind curtains, each scare was unique in its own way. Last thing, I've heard complaints about haunted houses and how busy they get. I hear so many people go through at once that the scares usually get ruined due to big crowds. The way The Crypt attractions works it is that only 1-2 groups go at a time. POSSIBLE SPOILERS in this review. - Haunted Attractions. All 3 attractions are located on a parking lot near the mall. It is not in the mall itself. This is a review for all 3 maze attractions. Had a Groupon for the even, and got VIP Fast Passes. We got to skip maybe 5 people in each maze. It was the opening Saturday. The people said it would pick up as the season went on, but I would be surprised if it did. We've been to several other haunted house type attractions in town and this was the worst. It seemed as if a few kids got together, put up some plywood walls and tarps, and made these mazes, which are only 4-5 feet wide. So you're always smushed in so to speak. It makes sense since it exists on a small footprint in the parking lot. The parking lot had some cars, but in the end we think those were all the employees cars. There was only a couple of animatronic devices. The rest of the scary part was motion sensors that let out sprays of water, air, noises, sounds. And after that, it was a handful of workers in each maze. One was funny because it led you down one path, but you passed the same worker. So they double dipped on that one. One maze was literally that, a maze. It had many paths and was hard to find the right path to proceed. We ended up at the start several times and the person in there scaring us had to tell us where to go each time. We finally got out. Not much was scary. It all depends on how amped up the worker happens to be, how good they are at startling you at the right moment. All in all, this is worth about $10, $15 VIP, max. My friend will be going to another one because she didn't feel this one was hardly anything. All 3 mazes had open tops above head so you could see out when it was super dark. A couple of times the special effects kept you from seeing above though. I know not to go to this one ever again. If you ever go once, you really don't need to return, no matter how much they say they "changed it up". Go to The 13th Floor, or the one that was/is at Rawhide, or some other popular one. I can see why there are multiple Yelp "locations" as they are possibly trying to rename it each year to keep not good reviews from stacking up. Best haunted attraction I've been to. Too scary for small children. Fun queline entertainment on busy nights, great sets, props, costumes and effects. The actors are dedicated to their characters and make sure you have a good time by interacting. It's like walking into a movie! This was way too expensive. ....however, the haunted houses were awesome! They scared the crap out of my wife and kids. They really put a lot of effort into this production. I just dont like paying close to $100 for my family of four. The extra charge per ticket for using a credit card was STUPID! So, it was a great expensive haunted house with a stupid extra charge. Definitely not what they advertise. The little maze thing only had two TERRIBLE SCARES. The other two attractions were scary but workers broke their characters ALOT! Ok! Im a couple weeks late but I had to stick to my word and write a review. I know its just a seasonal hautned house but I really hope those people got paid pretty good money! They stayed in character the entire time and going through the asylum was never a dull monent. Unfortunatley, I did not get to make it through the second part because I was just too scary but my girls seem to have loved it! Just when we thought we were done and at the exit, walking to our cars, here comes chainsaw man chasing us the entire way until we were in our cars driving off! The Asylum was OK, not really scary at all and not worth it. The Crypt was a lot better and more freaky and it seemed longer. I got a few scares out of it, but nothing that would haunt me. It's just like you get scared and laugh it off right away. It's fun. Saved some money by getting it from LivingSocial. The line when we got there on a Wednesday when they opened at 7pm was really long and they only had one cashier. A really inefficient process even when needed to only pick up the tickets. Waited in line for 10-15minutes. By comments of my other friends, they said it's not nearly as scary as Fear Farm. read more

This place was decent in terms of the haunts, but I was disappointed that I bought the fast passes online, when there was absolutely no one even in the regular line, and then learned there was a groupon. So I essentially paid $80 for an experience I could have gotten for $40 bucks. Definitely was not worth $80, but I would have been satisfied had I paid only $40! So make sure you check groupon and maybe wait until you get there to see if it's worth buying a fast pass. read more

probably one of the worst haunted houses. you walk through a bunch of tarp that's hung up just to see maybe 4 people in each of the houses and either they have a mask on that they bought from spirit or mediocre makeup for those who didn't have a mask. there's machines that try to scare you more than actual people. the "chaos" house is TERRIBLE it's a maze of tarp that you walk through with two "clowns" that just stand and look at you and then you're done. not worth the time or money. read more

For a parking lot attraction this haunted house was fun, chilling and entertaining. I pre bought tickets from Event Brite so I didnt have to wait and just went up to their office which is in a shipping container and got some nicely prints tickets. Would have been a cooler experience if my date didnt stand me up as people in couples and groups looked at me weird for being solo. Crypt was the best attraction however some areas should have a directional marker. I had to feel my way along a wall and that was lame. Not too scary at all and the actors were great. There was a chainsaw actor at the end if the Asylum portion that ran after people who were exiting. He should get a bonus for his efforts. He also tired out quickly so it was good they had plenty of people working. Would recommend that they step up the Chaos maze because really going through polyvinyl sheeting was a little boring and I could hear one of the female scarers tell ppl theyre at a dead end. Not really worth the money we paid. Not that scary. Short walks through all three attractions.

The place was dead at 9:00 pm on a Saturday night. (They actually have the nerve to offer a "Fast Pass" as well. Just lol!)Had I not bought my tickets online before hand I would've made a u turn and went somewhere else. None of the attractions had a single person in line. The "tour guides" were very rude. Over weight feminist types. One proceeded to try to humiliate me in front of my date by scolding me for trying to hold the door for everyone after she made it clear that we were headed in. She then proceeded to shove the door closed angrily and then continued to patronize me once we were inside saying "Oh look he's mad now." On a more positive note all other staff were very friendly. Some of the actors were very talented and some left more to be desired. The chainsaw guy at the end of Asylum chased my date damn near to the parking lot after I told him "Get her!" Lol. Give that man raise! Will be filing a dispute with American Express to get my 50 bucks back though. Don't piss your customers off. read more

Before I went to the Crypt, I did a bit of research and learned that it is one of the longest running haunted houses in the valley. It definitely has a following of fans so I was really excited to go. When I first walked into the midway, I was shocked with all the detail on all the houses from the outside , especially the crypt. It looked very well done. I went to the chaos maze first because the line was short. Boy was I glad I went to this one first because if it had been last, this would be a 1 star review. The maze was boring, short, and not scary at all. After the chaos maze, I had my doubts about the rest of the haunted houses. I went to the crypt next, while waiting in line I remained optimistic about it, the entrance of the haunted house helped. Going through it, I was surprised, and not in a good way. The production took a huge drop, some sets suffered an identity crisis. They had nothing to do with crypts. It almost felt like I was in a haunted house at a fair. The actors were not committed at all and failed to scare our group. After that after some reluctance, we waited in line for the asylum. Now this time I was surprised but in a good way. The production was slightly better than the crypt and it actually stayed with the story, although there were clowns, which did not make any sense. The make up was well done. But the ending to the haunt was very weak. Altogether, if you're a little kid, you're gonna like this haunt. Simple as that. I was very disappointed with production in this haunt, especially with their praise on being the longest running haunted house. And especially for the price. We went to two haunted attractions near Tempe on a Thursday night. (Oct 16th) Expecting long lines we arrived way too early for this one - about 10 people showed up at 7:00. We sure felt silly. I thought the staff tried to make it scary, but for the most part my 10 year old son and I found it more funny than frightening. Relative to another local set up the features were shorter to go through and lacked complexity. Scariest actor was zombie patient girl in the wheel chair with the doctor gatekeeper to the Asylum a close second. Loved the peeing skeleton in the crypt. This is good for the reasonably brave 10-12 year old, but not scary for folks who routinely watch horror! read more

very cool haunt! we had such a great time very cool haunt! we had such a great time, We paid an extra 7 bucks for the speed pass, and it was worth it. There was no wait at all with the speed pass. They have three haunts. The first one was called "chaos maze" that was ok, gets you ready for the main houses. Then we headed to "The Crypt" there was a pretty long line, but we had a speed pass, so we went right in. They did a really good job here, it was really scary, I won't give it all away. We then went through "The Asylum" it was great. I recommend this to everyone. read more

Two starts may be a little generous...more like 1.5. We went early in the season and purchased fast passes (which were not necessary). There were three different haunted attractions and all of them lacked staffing. There were not enough entertainers...but there were plenty of shower curtains used to build mazes. I went to the crypt on Saturday with my dad and my cousin. We went to all three haunts. The first one was the crypt. It was really fun and really scary! My cousin was sobbing by the end and refused to go into the other two. The next one we went to was the asylum. It was not all that fun and just plain out freaky and weird. The price is decent and if your heading in on a weekend or any of the prime days spring for VIP to avoid some.of the lines.
