Couldn't get a picture of the goat making his 'cheese' face.

After starting to attend haunted houses in 2012, I feel like I'm pretty much a connoisseur of the damned by now. We hit FOS opening night 2014 and it was a blast. I was initially hesitant because of how few days the attraction is open -- only twice a week for a month -- and how reasonable the price was ($16 but you can get a $2 off coupon on their website). We drove past the parking lot once but, once inside, checked out the pumpkins for sale and petting zoo set up. There were a lot of people congregated at the trampoline/race track and a handful of families entering the fun maze but it was nothing like the never-ending queues that seem to make up certain haunted houses. There is no fast pass option here so plan accordingly -- can't just throw money at a long wait here. There were about three groups ahead of us when we got to the haunted maze entrance. They stagger your entrance time and, for us, it worked. We never came close to the group ahead of us, keeping the spooks fresh and unexpected. Don't know what their max group size is -- we had 4. Not going to drop any specifics about the haunt but it was very well done. Going through the corn is a whole other experience from the conventional haunted house. Yes -- it is a single path, not a maze -- but there are so many turns on the path that you are constantly "in the moment" rather than the conventional walk-into-room-get-spooked-walk-out-of-the-room format. All in all, it wasn't the biggest (no fair attractions or food booths) but it was the best haunted house experience I've had in Phoenix. I'd recommend shoes since I wore flip flops and, though it says no running, you will get some startles that will have you almost pushing Jenny over in hopes of saving yourself (or, at least, I did).

one of the best haunted houses i've been to yet!! wait was 30 mins but didn't mind and had characters walking down while waiting. lady upfront explains how it goes and you go through about 1 mile long corn maze; 30 mins. definitely worth the $25 !!! would totally come again.

I was surprised how much they were able to pull off and all the hidden surprises thru out the maze.

So when I saw an ad about 13th Floor Haunted House on Facebook, I knew it was time to get back in the mix. I checked out this haunted house on a Sunday at 8:00 p.m. It was their last day on November 2nd. Parking was a cinch in the spacious parking lot they share with other businesses. Once you arrive, you'll see a line outside of the building which winds in the same way that you would see at an amusement park. This was my least favorite part of the experience. It took about 30 minutes to get through the line outside and the line inside of the building. And then the haunted house itself takes about half an hour. You can pay extra to skip the line, but I'm not about that life. I just wish they had a system in place logistically where you can get through the line quicker. I imagine that Friday and Saturday evenings are even more crowded than the Sunday evening I attended. I won't ruin all of the surprises about the haunted house itself, but I will say it's a good time. There are parts that are pitch dark. There are people jumping out at you left and right trying to scare you. There are parts of the rooms that are set up to scare you. There are different themes throughout the haunted house. It's well done. My favorite area made it seem like you were wading through water, when you in fact were not. It was an optical illusion created through light. My words can't really do it justice. If you're not super scared of haunted houses, give it a try. You'll have a good time once you get in there! And after you survive all of the ghouls and demons, there's a food truck posted up outside if you're hungry.

Parking was also an extra cost, but I think if you bought your parking online it was a little bit cheaper. There was a Fear Farm merch tent and a few other tents selling food and drinks. Since we came on Wednesday, I'd say the lines weren't as bad as it may have been on the weekend. However, there were definitely a lot of missed opportunities for jump scares. While everyone in our group did get scared at least once, I thought it would be more scarier. Some of the themes were better than others. I don't think I would come back to this one. There are other haunted places to check out in the valley. I will say that the music they had playing throughout the park that evening was awesome. Not sure if it's always the same, but it was hits from the 90's!

There are 4 different themed haunted houses that are included in the general admission ticket and all the activities (corn maze, zombie shooting, etc.) are additional costs. Parking is also an additional cost which is always annoying. Overall, the haunted houses were fun but I think they could've been improved with more scare actors. The carnival themed one was my favorite but it was too short. The blood shed one was too long and barely had any decorations, it was basically just a maze. We were there for over 2 hours since there's a bit of a line to wait for each house so people are spread out.

Since you can pay to go to just one or all of the attractions, this seems fair. I'll base this review solely on my experience with The Crypt. The Crypt has nice props and F/X throughout and that's really about it. No scare factors for us hardcore Halloween & horror fans, and no thrills. It was kind of just like, oh wee... Look at the cool display. That's it. If you an 8 year old kid, or just an easily frightened person, you'll love it. However, if you're on a budget (or time schedule) and can't afford to do all of the attractions, so you're wondering which of the 3 you should pick, choose this one; it is by far the best of the 3. Located in the Fiesta Mall parking lot (which is typically a dead giveaway for impending lameness), right off of US-60 and Alma School Rd. Plenty of free parking. Go to their website for a $3 off coupon. Even if you have a Groupon, you must stand in the ticket line to get a physical ticket.
