This place has a stunning collection of crystals and rocks!! We were on a road trip that took us from Reno to Crescent City CA. I had mapped it out so that we didn't have to drive all the way up into Oregon to get to our destination, but alas the directions on my phone took us on another route. It was all worth it, because the drive was beautiful and I would've missed this amazing shop if we'd taken a different path! The staff was attentive and friendly, asking if you needed help, but without smothering. I met the owner who had some great stories to tell about how he started out collecting crystals. While I was looking at a specific case near the door to the outdoor rockyard, I was about to ask the cost of an item, when I noticed those were marked "not for sale". He explained they were part of his personal collection that was years old. I could've stayed in this store for hours, everything was so fun to look at. I'm not really sure why they ban taking pictures of the items, I've never seen any sign like that in a store. Not that I really cared, but it was still a strange rule. The prices on their items were very reasonable. Usually at roadside attractions, things are massively overpriced, but these were not. I got a mini slab of amethyst for only $12 which has made a great addition to the crystals I keep on my kitchen shelf. Absolutely loved this store! read more

My daughter absolutely loves this little shop. Every time we pass by she begs me to stop. We stopped in about 10 mins to close tonight (I know, we suck for that). Told my little one she had a few mins to find a cool trinket. The two gentlemen that were working (The owners sons) were super helpful and accommodating. They were polite and didn't make us feel rushed. They even went above and beyond and put a necklace and charm together for my little one. That was a really nice thing to do that they definitely didn't have to do. The shop itself is very clean, has a nice layout, and a wide variety of things to browse and purchase as well. Ooooh how I love this store. We forged thru the fires/ smoke on hiway 199 returning from our vacation to get there. Trust me there were safer, quicker ways but no way no way. This is the third or fourth time stopping over the years and so worth it. Ive gotten the most fabulous rocks - amethyst, rose quartz, and more - and reasonably priced too. I loooove the kaleidoscopes, i want them all ! This time I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, and I followed him around just listening to him chat with everyone. My Father was a Past-President of the Carmel Valley Gem & Mineral Society and we would spend Easter Vacation in the Mojave Desert prospecting for minerals and rocks. Needless to say, I have visited many, many Rock Shops and Lapidary stores. The Crystal Kaleidoscope ranks near the very top. Louis has an extensive knowledge of gems, jewelry and minerals and loves to help customers find the right item. Unlike some rock shops that appear cluttered and "junky", this one is immaculate with beautiful displays. On my most recent visit, I picked up a gorgeous specimen of Uruguay Amethyst, Calcite Geode, and Native Copper (from Northern Michigan). Louis' pricing is VERY good -- I have seen other stores do an outrageous markup on the same items. read more

Fun place to visit! This is a fairly large shop, with a nice assortment of minerals, crystals, beads and beading supplies. I was able to buy all the parts to make a very nice mala out of aventurine, including a small hand-carved aventurine buddha for the king bead location. They have some unusual things, like large blue and green goldstone, a synthetic semiprecious stone from China. There are raw geodes, sliced an polished geode sections, and many kinds of carved stone shapes for jewelry. The proprietors were both very knowledgeable and helpful. read more

This store is a must visit! The shop is incredibly clean and has the biggest variety of crystals that I have ever seen in one place and certainly the most unique pieces. They have items that any travelers with children will love to items for the most serious collectors. The owners source their merchandise themselves and can tell you where each items was purchased from so you feel good about buying from people that know their items are ethically sourced. I stopped in while on a road trip with my daughter and her friend and it quickly became one of our favorite places on our road trip. The family that owns the business are not only experts in their field they are also kind and very patient. Brandon and his parents took the time to answer all of our questions, patiently stood by while I tried on at least 50 rings and they were amazing with the kids. I did not expect a crystal shop on this journey, what a delight. It is a shame I did not have the list of crystals I still have to find with me, but that did not stop me from picking out a rather healthy selection. I left with two gorgeous amethyst columns, another fluoride obelisk, and several smaller items for a very, very reasonable $60. When you walk in the store, be warned, it is sensory overload. Man, this place is wonderful. Hands down the best priced, best service I've ever received at a crystal/rock store! The owners are super friendly and have been in the business for about 30 years. They really know their rocks! Wide variety too: crystals, rocks, carved stones, meteorites, fossils, beads and much more. The prices are perfect! Cheap enough where you can buy a lot and their large crystals are also inexpensive (compared to other stores prices) so if you're looking for a giant amethyst then you should check this place out. I would of had a better review. I was trying to show my daughters and grandchildren items in the store on the phone since I was traveling by myself. I wanted to buy a bunch of stuff there. My signal was strong but FaceTime was not working. I tried to video & take photos to send which worked. I was so excited about all the stuff I was going to get after the girls sent me what they wanted. However, i had to tell the girls I was talked to by the store about the video taping and photos. I was so bummed because my grandchildren are special needs and these items would of made their day. Ironic how low the energy was for being a crystal store but the male employee ruined the vibe in the store and made for an irritating and uncomfortable experience. This is a good rock shop. They have a nice selection of low to midrange pieces and some nice bigger rough ones by the pound. Labels are for the most part accurate, often including provenance. The cabinet with the not for sale items is interesting but still not truly high end with a couple of exceptions. It's clean, well lighted and air conditioned. Worth a stop. read more
