Their "design" services consisted of using the Pinterest photos that we provided and some basic CAD drawings. They didn't show up to an initial meeting, (admitted putting it on their calendar incorrectly, this should have been a red flag), didn't read or respond to multiple emails with important information, didn't incorporate several specific written requests into project plans, and continuously wasted time, but they certainly charged for every minute they may have been even thinking about our project. Of course what we paid would have been a small portion of our overall project budget, but to have received virtually no timelines or final plans, or even basic communication, and to have wasted months of time that could have been used actually planning and completing the project, we decided to cut our losses. Before posting a review, we reached out to the owner, Jeff, (I am always very hesitant to post something that could negatively impact someone's livelihood), but from his defensive response it seems like this is just how they do business, and I feel our experience should be available to anyone considering using their services. They took our existing unfinished basement and converted it into a brand new space that we love complete with a combo half bath/laundry room and family/office space. We had shopped around for a number of design-build firms and contractors and ultimately decided to go with Lamont because we liked the portfolio of work that we saw, they had good reviews, a clean CCB history, and being design-build would help us control the budget better. A few reasons we felt our project went well and we would recommend Lamont: * They were very good project managers. There are a lot of different little pieces (design, permitting, managing contractors, timelines, etc) to manage with a remodel project and we didn't want to have to manage it ourselves. They handled all these pieces and just pulled us in for key decisions. Nikki and Matt helped immensely with the up-front estimating and design to help us create a great space with our budget in mind. * The end quality of our basement is wonderful! Caleb and Steve did an amazing job every single day to make sure each piece was done correctly and to a high quality standard. They asked our opinion on exact finishes and found ways to up the design of the space when we got down to the nitty gritty. For example, we were second guessing our trim design decision on the windows in the plan a couple days before it was set to go in. We talked with Caleb and showed him our Pinterest board of window trim treatments to get his thoughts. He was excited to see our ideas and said he could make it happen, but it would require a change order. We were prepared for the change order since it was pretty last minute, but the next day Caleb came back with a great idea that wouldn't require the change order. He realized he had enough leftover material from the laundry shelf to make sills for the windows in the same style that we wanted! You can tell he cares about his craft and making things as good as they can be. * The project finished on time to the day. We have always heard about projects running wildly over so we were very pleased that the space was ready on the day they said it would be. * We had a small plumbing issue arise about 2 months after construction completed, but we called Lamont and they resolved the issue quickly and without any hassle. Overall, we were really happy with how it turned out and were kinda sad to not have Steve and Caleb around every day after the project was done, lol.

Thank god there wasn't someone trying to get across the lot at that moment as people frequently do in parking lots... the driver of this car laughed about the interaction as he walked into the 7-11. Tall, white, skinny, semi gray/black hair. Looked about 50 years old. Whoever owns this business I urge you to look into who is representing your company. As a lifetime resident of West Linn and a homeowner, I will never be looking into Lamont Bros for any work on my home due to this unfortunate experience.

I'll keep this as brief as possible and stick to the facts. Macadam installed new carpet for us. It…read morewasn't a small job: we paid around $13k for it. We worked with Angel in the office, Sean in the field, and Jessica ran the carpet crew that performed the install. The morning of the install, Sean informed us they couldn't find the carpet. They lost the carpet! We had the house all boxed up, our dog and kids were away for the day, and we even had professional movers over to help disassemble and move a large entertainment center. Macadam eventually found our carpet, but two weeks had passed by the time it was able to get installed. This was not the only issue we had with Macadam. First, the crew took pictures of themselves pretending to play my son's guitar (and other similar pictures with our things). Jessica said they take pictures like that sometimes for their professional social media accounts. It made me very uncomfortable. Second, they damaged and repaired our bedroom door and never told us. The repair work is highly visible (at least it's low on the door). Third, there are visible seams in the carpet. Fourth, when they attempted to repair the seams, they asked if they could cut carpet from another part of the house to use in the repair. We said no. They ignored our wishes and cut carpet from several rooms when we weren't around. We know this because (a) they left carpet scraps from the cutting and (b) the area where the carpet meets the wall looks worse than before. Fifth, the carpet they cut from was in rooms with closed doors, including a bedroom and walk-in closet with laundry and pets. They entered closed off rooms without asking and performed work we said not to do. Sixth, even after the repair, there are still visible seams in the carpet. Seventh, we let Angel know about all these issues and Macadam offered what we consider to be an inappropriately small reduction to our bill (including a small cash discount and not charging us for moving furniture). FWIW, our interior designer, who has a lot of experience working on projects like this, thought a 50% reduction in the total bill was appropriate just based on the hassle caused by the lost carpet (ripple effect with other projects we had going on). She didn't know about any of the other issues when she made that statement. Given that the quality of the work was far below our expectations, the incompetence around losing the carpet, directly ignoring our wishes w/r/t cutting the carpet, and the invasion of privacy from entering closed rooms and taking pictures with our belongings, we will not use Macadam for a carpet project again. Moreover, I wouldn't let anyone from that crew back in my house for any reason. Two stars because even though this project fell far below our expectations, it's still nice carpet.

I had to do so much repair and repaint the south wall, but I do not have a professional sander. I also did not get my 5 gallon paint bucket back of the original house color. I DO NOT recommend this painting firm at all. Three neighbors have asked us for a recommendation and we said no way! I spoke to my co-worker and they STILL had good things to say about Gino and Lifetime. In addition, the company is Hardieplank Elite Preferred installer, meaning they were up to date on any installation best practices and that was important to me. Unlike all of the other bids, there was no pressure. Gino was easy to work with, extremely responsive, meticulous attention to detail. No overselling or "the sky is falling" behavior. No eye rolling or treating me like I was a PIB at the end when some little painting details needed extra attention. Was very respectful of me as a woman. No weirdness or disconnect from his team. Everyone was on the same page. And his team are direct employees of Lifetime ... for many multiple of years. This latter point spoke volumes to me. His employees were superlative workers who were VERY careful about picking up debris, daily check-ins, keeping an eye out for my dog's safety, etc. They were on time, in budget and did great work with everyone being super professional.
