VJ Pampana should be fired…read more I was warned by several people in the medical field not to see Pampana because they've had so many patients who have have bad experiences with him. I didn't take their advice because he's the only local neurologist. I took two children to him for neurological issues and he sent them both to rheumatology. When they were cleared by rheumatology and their symptoms worsened I took them back to him and he diagnosed them with non-epileptic seizures. He gave me no action to take and no advice on where to research this condition. When I asked what I'm going to do because I can't keep carrying my son everywhere he said "lots of people live with seizures." He did not offer a wheelchair. At a later appointment I told Pampana I've been doing research and realized that he only diagnosed one of my children's symptoms, but that functional neurological disorder seems to explain all of the other symptoms, and I asked him what he thought about that. He stared at me in silence until I changed the subject. I assume is because he doesn't know anything about functional neurological disorder and didn't want to tell me that. When my youngest son began to have the same symptoms I took him to Pampana and he dismissed us saying "if he were really in pain it wouldn't come and go, it would continually get worse so this is not a real physical problem." (not how this disorder works, just like that's not how headaches work. headaches come and go, but they are real.) I told him this since is having the same symptoms as my other children who he diagnosed. He said "The disored your other children have is very rare (which is false) and it doesn't run in families (also false) so it's unlikely that you would have another child with the same condition." When I called to tell him, my son has begun to have daily seizures. I was told it's just stress. I asked if he could walk me through that thought process because my son's psychiatrist says he isn't showing any signs of stress and his symptoms don't seem to match that diagnosis. The doctor responded only with "you can take him to rheumatology." When I made the appointment for the EEG two staff members shamed me for taking "so lone" to make the appointmen despite knowing that I have a high deductible and have to pay for tests out of pocket and their office doesn't offer a payment plan. I was asked why I'm not doing the other tests the doctor recommended And I explained that I can't pay for all of them so I chose the one that I felt was the most important. I also mentioned we're looking for a second opinion from a different neurologist before I spend hundreds of dollars on a test that doesn't make sense to me. Later I got a call saying the EEG is being canceled and we are being dismissed as patients Because the doctor was offended that I told his staff that we're looking for a second opinion which implies that he's a bad doctor. This man knows my son is having multiple seizures every day and is being hurt by them. He knows he can't go to school because of them and he knows it will take us three months to see a new neurologist, yet he canceled the EEG days before the appointment because he was offended. If he doesn't care about the safety and well-being of his patients then why is he a doctor? It gives the impression that he's only doing this for the money. I also think it's suspicious that he would dismiss us as we're getting a second opinion, which makes me think he knows the tests he ordered are unnecessary. I later received a letter in the mail saying that we're being dismissed as patients but for the next 30 days he will honor our upcoming appointments and in order to give us time to find a new doctor. This is after he canceled all of our upcoming appointments, including the EEG. The paperwork also states that they will release our medical records if I come in and fill out a release form. I don't know why I have to fill out a SECOND release form after dropping the others off in the office. Please don't waste your energy on this man who seems to not know what he's talking about in his own field and not care about his patients. Anyone who cancels an appointment that can help a suffering child because his ego was bruised does not deserve to be a doctor.

I've never had any major issues with this practice since being a patient here, but I tend rely on…read morereviews, so I figured I'd mention this, in some small hope this could be included as part of a quality control type of survey. 20 week ultrasound has been scheduled since 6 weeks. As usual, they called me to confirm this appointment. I confirmed and even asked if the office closes due to possible impending snow storm. "We don't cancel or close unless the doctors decide it's too dangerous". Cool, we don't cancel plans unless the same... Appointment day. We get kids ready to bring with us to the 11am appointment since school was cancelled, and yes, it's been snowing since last last night. No big deal. We get there at 11:06 am to check in. We are seated in area D, and it's the only area with people waiting, and packed. Didn't think anything of it and get settled in to wait. 40 mins later, I finally decide to ask about any clue when we will be seen, she says there's only ONE tech today and everyone waiting is waiting on her. Wow. Ok. I talk it over with my crew in tow, when the nice lady at the desk informs me that there's another tech coming in at noon. At this point the other people waiting overhear, and are also becoming impatient. Finally, at about 11:53 (remember appointment was at 11am) I decide to try and reschedule. My thoughts: -I don't mind waiting. But waiting for an hour to be called in for my 11am appointment, for a procedure they warned me lasts 45 minutes, and they told me to be ready with a full bladder for? -no one came out to check unless you went to ask. It sounded to me that everyone else waiting were also guessing as to why and when. Why couldn't they mention at check-in that they are down to one ultrasound tech and it could be a very long wait? I feel like his would save many peoples time and frustration, and gives a baseline expectation. Seems a bit inconsiderate, kind of unprofessional. So we left. Got up on a snow day, to wait an hour in a doctor's office to not be seen. Hopefully tomorrow I actually get seen. And going forward, hopefully some consideration could be exercised with procedure in front office when short staffed and these types of issues arise.

I have become horrified about specimens sent to the wrong lab and the resulting astronomical bill sent to me by that lab. I was recently refused any assistance and hung up on by a nurse. This after praising all of my doctors and nurses over the years. If your staff can't handle me, they can't handle anyone! I am too scared to ever call you or enter your facility ever again! ​

I now have to go to NJ to my primary physician for proper treatment, so all was just a waste of my time and money. I will never go to Excel again and will share my horrible experience with as many people as possible.

I'll start off by saying that I work in healthcare. I totally empathize with what the staff has to…read moredeal with between demanding patients and stressful cases on a daily basis. Typically, I'll always defend healthcare staff, since I know how it feels to work in this field. However, I entered this field knowing my job is to help, not to be unprofessional and nasty to patients with simple questions. This low rating is strictly for the women at reception who were either having a bad day every time I'm there, hate their job, or just are just struggling with compassion fatigue. When you walk in, they do not acknowledge you and simply say "yes?" as their way of greeting you. I receive better customer service at a gas station. I'm not sure what it is, but I was trying to be polite in my questioning about their appointment policy/hours and they wouldn't allow it. Incredibly rude and short. I have overheard them answering the phone with other patients, and it clearly isn't just me that they have abysmal interpersonal skills with. The entire front office staff here is consistently rude and condescending, talking down to all patients as if they are stupid and don't grasp how the healthcare system works. Yes, I am aware the doctors and nurses have to care for multiple patients and have other duties aside from direct patient contact. I am a provider myself and often have to turn patients away, but I do professionally without berating human beings during a pandemic. I witnessed them turn away multiple patients requesting walk-ins, rudely, while they sit around lazily doing nothing to accommodate patients or provide alternatives. In my doctor's office, this behavior would not be acceptable practice, no matter how uninformed patients are. I now understand that appointments are required and that their staff is overworked, but your website should state that instead of welcoming walk-ins stating "NO APPOINTMENTS REQUIRED." Update your website or put a sign on the door for appointments only instead of scolding patients for wanting having one at an urgent care facility. Drive the short distance and go to Orange Urgent Care instead. They are kind, patient, and accommodating.
