CRHC Urgent care is awesome. I came there with kidney stones and was treated with compassion, empathy and kindness. I was in so much pain and very cold. The nurse gave me three blankets a pillow and nurse alarm to ring the nurse if need be. I was treated like I was in a five star hotel. The staff checked in on me constantly and made me feel at ease. The PA was informative and very knowledgeable of my illness and assured me she would take good care of me. She did. On 6/20/2025, I came for an appointment for blood draw. I checked in and was sitting there for 30 minutes. I got up to ask about the delay and the lady in the lab says I don't have an appointment for you. I go back to the main desk and explain the situation, the staff is lost and confused saying my appointment disappeared. Wth! 15 minutes later,they say there's nothing they can do. The practice under Dr. Teitelbaum was occasionally challenging, but always patient centric. Now, since the Optum takeover the clinical care is still good, but it has been negatively impacted by poor quality infrastructure. The employees do their best, and the Epic system is improving, but the neglect under the new ownership is painfully obvious. Long wait times, confusion amongst staff, lack of internal coordination and billing problems are just a few of the things that have nose-dived since the acquisition. Just to schedule an appointment with a provider now takes months, so clearly the staffing levels are inadequate. The entire practice is under strain, which I can only assume are due to prioritizing profit over quality care. The worst is that the former practice was essentially a monopoly so now there is very little competition. This means that Optum can abuse the market and patients have no choice but to accept it, move, or drive an additional hour to a bigger healthcare area. read more

Since Crystal Run Healthcare was bought out by Optum there have been nothing but issues. I received an exorbitant bill from Quest Diagnostic for blood work that was drawn at Crystal Run. I was advised after multiple calls that Crystal Run no longer has their own lab and sends the bloodwork out to third party labs for processing. These third party labs aren't provided our insurance information "because they're a third party" so INSURANCE IS JOT APPLIED! Please take note of this and get a written RX for your lab work and go to whatever lab your insurance is contracted with, otherwise you're going to be in a labyrinth of chaos trying to get the bill resolved. Also, call Crystal Run's billing department to ensure that they have your proper insurance carrier or carriers on record. I have two carriers and when the buy out took place they did not provide my primary carrier information only my secondary carrier. ALL my medical bills were improperly processed and have to be resubmitted from March 2025 to July 2025 because they failed to bill both carriers. There are decent folks and some quality doctors but since Optim became the new owners, several doctors have left. Imagine a Dr recommending a test which then after the fact mentions that he, himself, preferred to go elsewhere because of the higher quality of equipment. Imagine a nurse unable to insert an IV and there not being any other protocol then suggesting you take a less extensive test? Have need for a cardiologist? take the time, go to Weil Cornell. Need cancer care? MSK is now in N. NJ and Westchester. Need orthopedics? Use Hospital for Special Surgery or NYU Langone. They're better. Folks don't come from all over just because of marketing. Use the best auto mechanic, home repair person etc? Use the better quality physicians. In addition you'll find the care quality and office experience to also be on par with the medical technology. The customer service of this place is absolutely atrocious. Multiple times they have contacted me while I was en route to my appointments to call to cancel or reschedule my appointment made months in advance. You have to sit for long periods of time just to talk to someone to reschedule those appointments. Today, I had an appointment with the ophthalmologist there, and you have to sit in your car and text them that you have arrived for your appointment, and they texted back stating that someone would call me...... I sat for over an hour past my appointment time, and did not hear anything, so I texted them because I knew it was pointless going through their phone system just to sit hold forever. About 10-15 minutes later, I got a text back stating that the staff had all left for the day, and that someone would contact me the next day to reschedule my appointment.... I just had a horrible experience at Crystal Run in Middletown. I went as a new patient to see Dr. Folino in the pain management dept and the minute I sat down, the nurse started thinking I was there to score opiates. She kept interrupting me and refused to listen to me, looking down her nose at me and questioning my integrity. I got upset and my voice gets loud when I'm upset so the doctor heard me and he refused to see me!! These people wouldn't know a person in real pain if it was staring them in the face which it was. I was not there for opiates, maybe cortizone and NSAIDs but she was over the top emphatic that they do not prescribe opiates under ANY circumstances, which I challenged. Crystal Run shows no empathy and no compassion. Their doctors are mostly losers and failures. I have seen 5 doctors from their practice but no more as all but one failed to help me due to their incompetance or cowardice. I am ending my relationship with Crystal Run because they are pathetic and incompetant. I urge you to do the same and switch to Garnet, Bon Secours, Horizon, or anything but Crystal Run because they won't be there when you really need them. read more

I hurt my knee and my neck neither at work. I called for an appointment they asked how my knee was injured I said I have no idea it just started to hurt. They asked if I fell or hit it, I said I fell at work about 11 days earlier but that has nothing to do with this, they then declined to see me. I stated I am not claiming a workplace incident I am in pain and looking for care. No mention of my neck. I was declined to see a doctor, declined medical care. How is this legal? How is this ok? Type of care: practitioner never answers seven messages posted. Did not give me needed form for an MRI. My GP left the practice. Some nursing very good, but some are now dreadful. Doctors not hired now, they are usually physicians' assistants. One put through a false claim to Medicare, did not answer my messages, and never corrected his possible mistake with Medicare but only changed the notes within the system. Care Quality: I no longer feel safe. Office experience: The administrative staff generally nice people trying hard to make things work, but the administrative systems are so lame the results are comical. Crystal Run once a strong asset to the community but deteriorated over the years, I think because they have tried to grow too large. Since Optum bought the practice, the train wreck is complete. I have spent hours trying to make appointments or get necessary information -- it's become a comedy routine, and I cannot get out fast enough. First appointment I arrived early for my 7:30 am appointment... No one was there! I didn't get into an exam room until after 8 am. I needed to obtain copies of my blood work and x-ray prescriptions. I called at least five times, but no one returned my calls. I finally drove over there and stood in front of the desk while the person behind the desk chit-chatted with two people about their personal medical issues. Now I understand why no one answered the phone when I called. My last appointment was again at 7:30 a.m., but no one was at the desk. When someone arrived, I asked her to check to see if Theresa Clearwater was in, and she told me she couldn't until 8:00, when she was allowed to clock in--"New Rules," she told me. When I finally entered the exam room, a woman came in to take my blood pressure---the machine wasn't working. I mentioned that I had been waiting a long time. She said there have been cutbacks...people let go and no overtime. When Theresa Clearwater came in, she reviewed my chart. I asked how my blood results were and she said fine. She asked me if I had the hand x-rays and I said yes-- a month ago, the same day as the bloodwork. She did not have the X-ray results. I waited while she went to look for them and came back and said yes...She can see that I had the X-rays done, but they could not find them. I just left and will never go back there again. I told them at the desk that I would not pay a copay since no services were rendered. Coincidentally, I had an ENT appointment the same day. They had requested bloodwork also and the results found an issue concerning rheumatology. The ENT doctor suggested I see a rheumatologist. read more

This is corporate medicine at its best. You cannot be seen unless your copay is payed first. Okay . They're so busy treating the computers that often times days go by before you receive a call back from the doctors office. Every time I sign on to the patient portal my med list is all wrong, even though I have updated them numerous times over the years. The patient portal is essentially useless. It's just set up for the surveyors with a bunch of ridiculous nonsense. Radiology reports are not posted. Labs have been there but the visit notes are nothing but repeated care plan and goal statements. Today I received a text bill for triple the amount that I owe. Lack of compassion they seem to think they have plenty of patients so if something is wrong even if it's there fault they will not go out of there way to make things right. This review is for the Urgent Care located in this building. First off, I have hearing loss, and also now my ears are clogged, so it makes my hearing loss even worse. I went to Monroe Crystal Run, 95 Crystal run to see if there was a doctor that could see me to get my ears cleaned out, and i could not hear any of them at all, so i decided to go to urgent care. Walked in this building, asked where the urgent care was, and said i can't hear- so she was kind enough to walk me downstairs where it was. Everyone wears masks there, and it super makes it hard to hear.... Anyways, got to the urgent care, said i couldn't hear but the receptionist was kind enough to write down the questions she had. Also got new insurance but have an empire card with medicaid, and gave that to them. But the receptionist only took the empire card, but then fixed her mistake. I got to the urgent care at 3:33PM, but it wasn't until 4:57 that i was seen, and i had work at 5. Thank goodness i didn't faint or anything from being dizzy that long.... I also did nicely say that i had work at 5. Saw the doctor, dr. Stoll, Who was very nice, and did indeed confirm that my ears had wax in both of my ears. However had to go before they could clean out my ears because it was already 5:45PM, and i had said that i would be there by 6. Luckily have a follow up with my regular doctor dr. Lau, and will be seeing him to clean out my ears. (side note: part of the reason why i was waiting is because i just got my other insurance, and wasn't sure if i needed another card, so i was trying to wait to get another one, but you can't make your body wait!) read more

hello, I've been a patient of crystal run since it opened years ago. I've left some messages about the level of care of some of the employees Ethen Dr. Teitelbaum was the ceo. most encounters with the physicians we're not a severe problem. I had earlier met a new annual family physician named April Lucero. my first appointment went well and I left a good comment on her care. I filled out forms about my ptsd. she prescribed lexapro generic for my anxiety. she told me to take 1 tablet daily for 30 days. in about 2 weeks I felt unusual sensations especially my legs. these sensations were annoying because I couldn't sleep well for weeks. I finally went quickly to urgent care. I was seen by dr. Haque and immediately prescribed diazepam 5 mg. for muscle relaxation and anxiety 10 pill count. Doctor Lucero was on vacation and I was seen by doctor Lim who continues the diazepam 5 mg. I finally was seen by doctor Lucero and smiled when I told her the chaos and weeks without a good nights sleep. she lowered the dose of diazepam to 2mg to take 1 tablet if needed, 30 count. The symptoms I am still suffering is the RLS caused by lexapro. I called again that the medication was running out. she did not continue the medicatio, but instead made an appointment for me to see Dr.Peng a neurologist a month later! I urgently needed more medication until I see the doctor. As a retired health care professional I am so disappointed with her lack of support. please look into this asap. Have been a patient there for almost 20 years. Always preferred to stay because I felt that having been under their care for so long gave me credibility as a patient. Today was the last straw. Like everyone else says run away. The two comments below about getting prescriptions refilled are not mine, but explain what I go through EXACTLY. Impossible to get them to send refills for prescriptions without calling multiple times and literally hounding them until someone takes initiative and sends the prescription to the pharmacy. Every prescription refill takes 3 or more calls to finally have someone take action. Also keep getting asked to have a Pap smear when I have had a total hysterectomy. They care about racking up charges - not helping you with what ails you. Nurses are arrogant. Establishing a relationship with a new doctor is not something that I have wanted to do, as it is far easier to stay where you are, but it's so bad, I have made an appointment elsewhere. if I could give them no stars, I would. On December 22, 2023, I had an appointment with Dr. Ashley Bhola at Crystal Run Healthcare at their West Nyack, New York location. The purpose of this appointment was a pre-op visit for parathyroid surgery that I had scheduled for January 12, 2024 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. I had previously seen Dr. Bhola on October 13, 2023 also for a pre-op visit for the same surgery, however the first surgery date was cancelled due to my illness and the hospital required a new pre-op examination and blood work because the new surgery date was more than 30 days from the original date. When I arrived for the visit on 12/22, I again handed the paperwork that Columbia Presbyterian had provided to Dr. Bhola and showed her the information that they requested as to what blood work needed to be done. Dr. Bhola examined me and said that her medical assistant had called in sick, and she would get another medical assistant "from the floor" to draw my blood. Soon after, another person came into the e am room and did indeed do the blood draw. I expressed to Dr. Bhola that both the paperwork I gave her and the results of the blood work needed again (as the first time) to be faxed ASAP to the fax number that was at the bottom of the page she needed to fill out. Columbia Presbyterian wanted to have the pre-op information at least 2 weeks prior to the surgery date. On January 3, 2024 I contacted Columbia Presbyterian and was informed that they still had not received any of the pre-op information nor did they receive the blood work results. I then emailed Dr. Bhola through the Crystal Run portal, urgently requesting that she send this information to Columbia Presbyterian immediately and provided her with a fax number that they gave me. I also asked that the information should be uploaded to my portal account. She responded with a phone call to me stating that she tried to fax the info to the number I provided, but that the fax would not go through. I then told her to just fax the information to the number at the bottom of the paperwork I had given her at the time of my visit, and that I wanted her to also email a copy to me directly just in case they didn't receive it. I then received an email from Leah Payne with an attachment of a copy of the Pre-op visit paperwork from 10/13/23 and no blood work results. I then again emailed Dr. Bhola through the portal to tell her that the information I received was not correct and that the blood work was not included. She again responded with a phone call to me. That was when she told me (very rudely) that I had NOT given her any on the 12/22 visit and that all she had in my file was the 10/13. I explained to her that I had given her the same paperwork again on that date as I had at the October date. I then to,d her if she didn't have the paperwork, she should call Columbia Presbyterian (I gave her the phone number of my surgeon's office) to get another copy of the paperwork and where to fax it. She said she would pull up the paperwork from October and send that to them. I explained to her that the date on the exam MUST be 12/22, not 10/13, since Columbia Presbyterian would not accept it - that I needed to be within 30 days of the surgery date. She said she didn't have the paperwork from 12/22 and would just change the date on the October paperwork and send that to Columbia. I then got a phone call from my surgeon's assistant to let me know that she had called and that she was very nasty on the phone. They had received the paperwork, but had not received the results of the blood work. She told Jennifer (my surgeon's secretary) that there was no blood work since no blood was drawn on 12/22. On January 4, 2024, I emailed Dr. Bhola again through the portal stating that I specifically remembered that yes, blood was drawn on 12/22 and that it was drawn by another MA since her MA called out since that date, and that the results of that blood work needed to be sent immediately to Columbia. I also emailed Dr. Gregory Spencer who, according to the Crystal Run, listed him as the Chief Medical Officer apprising him of all that had transpired. I received no reply at all from either. I again emailed both doctors on 1/5 and again received no response from either. I returned to New York (I had been on vacation out of the State from 12/28 and returned on 1/7) and went to Crystal Run in West Nyack on 1/8/24 at which time I spoke to Andre Woods who is the director of Operations for that location. I recounted the above incident to him. He was able to provide me with copies of both the pre-op (which apparently was the one done on 10/13) and the blood results from 12/22. He also said he would investigate the incident and then contact me. As of today, January 15, 2024 I have not heard back for Andre Woods, nor from anyone else from Crystal Run in regards to this matter. it is obvious....they don't care! read more

The inability to directly communicate with your Crystal Run health care provider is despicable. You call, you speak to one "office" person after another. Never do you get to speak to an actual health care provider. Forget about receiving a call back from your physician, you do not even get a call back from a nurse. Despite the fact that Hal Teitelbaum, MD, JD runs the place he fails to understand that one of the primary reasons that patients contact plaintiff's medical malpractice attorneys is a protracted inability to contact & talk with their physician. Awful service. Main issues: 1. Appointments are overbooked, so like me, you could wait over 1.5 hours to be seen. Seriously, there was a line of patients outside the cardiology office. 2. Doctors are rushed during the appointment. You will only get adequate care if your doctor ignores the strict time limit they have with each patient. 3. Doctors are so busy there is no follow-up. I had a scan done to detect a severe medical issue and I was told by radiology that the results would be ready that day. It has been three weeks and I am still waiting to receive a response. I have called several times but no luck. 4. Directed to Medical Portal which the staff does not use. They encourage patients to use the portal to setup appointments and send messages to communicate with the staff. I'm still waiting for a response from office staff. 5. Crystal Run abandoned me, a longstanding patient, at the height of the pandemic, when I had a serious heart condition and was sick and scared. They showed me, all too clearly, how little they cared. There is no way to "fix" that now. I saw Crystal Run for exactly what it is; I will never be a patient there again and I urge all of my loved ones and colleagues to seek better alternatives, as well. ~~~~~ In December, 2020, nine days before Christmas and just as the pandemic was soaring, I received an email from Crystal Run Healthcare, stating that they had decided to stop accepting my insurance (a well-known insurance, utilized by millions of New Yorkers). I had been a cardiology patient at Crystal Run for over twenty years, and had a deteriorating aortic valve that would need to be replaced soon. I called Crystal Run and explained my situation. The representative who spoke with me responded coldly, "Well, you'll just have to change your insurance." I decided, instead, to change my provider...happily, my aortic valve has since been replaced and I received excellent care, with far fewer of the hassles that "come standard" at Crystal Run. For years, you couldn't drive down Route 17 without being bombarded with Crystal Run signs that said, "We want you healthy!" What I learned is that Crystal Run couldn't care less about your health...what they really want is to maximize profits at any cost, and patient health be damned. My insurance is about to change, to one accepted by Crystal Run. However, I will not be going back. Never again. read more

I have been BEGGING Dr. Meka and her staff since April 30th 2024 (it's now May 13) to send the referral needed by NYU imaging after they found a mass in my right breast. I was AT NYU imaging last week on the phone begging and begging being told that multiple urgent requests were sent to Meka's office and yet I was unable to attain the referral I need for further diagnostic, a sonogram and biopsy. Absolutley unprofessional and unacceptable. DO NOT USE CRYSTAL RUN IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH BECAUSE THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH. I have an appointment this week to try again and NYU STILL DOES NOT HAVE THE REFERRAL NEEDED. Crystal Run's approach is UNRESPONSIVE and cancer schamncer. DISGUSTING!
