Maryland Gardens Tree and Shrub Farm is a great place. Located close, in North Potomac, it is…read morelarge and filled with many different types of trees growing in the ground. The owner, Tom Moseley knows a lot about trees and bushes. Tom knows what kind of soil and how much sunlight is ideal v.s. tolerable for each plant. He is also knowledgeable about common tree diseases and pests (fungus, deer, etc.) and can guide one to a better choice of planting location or type of tree. Spring and fall are great times to plant trees and shrubs. (Late spring/summer heat and winter cold can be bad for a transplant.) We bought a Crepe Myrtle and a Magnolia from him in 2020 and they are both doing well. That is not the case with trees we have bought from others--from them only 1/2 the trees we bought survive 6-months. We returned in October 2022 and bought a flowering Crab Apple tree from the MD Gardens Tree and Shrub Farm. Tom Moseley provides the optional service of planting his trees and we had it done October 7th. This spring (April 2023), it bloomed magnificently. It's worth it to have Tom M plant because he checks the other trees one might have. For example he and his helper noticed we had red/black fuzzy "Wooly Bear" caterpillars at the base of our Crepe Myrtle. He removed them and cut back the undergrowth around the base that encouraged them. On a previous occasion (autumn 2020), he helped us deep fertilize a Plum tree that was sub-par. (The next spring it was thriving.). Mr. Moseley really cares for all trees and shrubs and knows a lot about them. Just call and makes an appointment to drop by; he has very flexible hours.

Cut your own Christmas trees are way overpriced. I was charged $180 for a less than 8 foot tree.read more

Planting in the fall is the right time, so you want to shop now - they are open through the end of October. The staff is incredibly helpful as well - they will help you pick plants that will thrive based on your soil and sun/shade conditions. Need a workhorse for your flower bed? We attempted to remove some ourselves but were quickly overwhelmed by the task. I researched native plant landscapers and came across Swamp Rose Co-op. After reaching out, Jeff, one of the owners, came to do a site visit. He was thorough in his presentation of plans and this February we had them come and do bamboo removal and plant some native trees and shrubs to act as a privacy screen. The Swamp Rose team was amazing! They pulled out over 2 tons of bamboo and roots! They planted native trees and shrubs which are thriving. Our backyard woodland meadow dreams are coming true. We have the team coming back in a few weeks to rip out the standard plants seen in the Silver Spring area (liriope, lilies, weeds) to replace with a native garden and we can't wait. One of my favorite aspects of this company is it is a co-op. The employees can be owners, and those who aren't are still paid a living wage as calculated by the MIT living wage calculator. They do excellent work! It is hard to find a native landscaper but this team is fantastic.

I have never used them before. It was an online purchase, so I had a little trouble clearly seeing what we were ordering. My Daughter-In-Law selected the arrangements. We purchased a spray, several small arrangements for the tables, and an absolutely beautiful arrangement for their Memory Table ... a lovely shallow vase which resembled a pond, with a lovely angel statuette overlooking the beautiful flowers. Every arrangement was Absolutely Beautiful, perfect and received compliments from everyone! They added so much beauty to the event! I was So Very Pleased! And, you know when family that you haven't seen in a long time is coming, it's especially important that everything is as close to perfect as possible! These were Absolutely Perfectly Beautiful! I just cannot compliment the amazing artists at this florist enough, for the Fantastic job that they did! I overwhelmingly recommend them and will 100+% use them for any future occasions! Also, I was very happy with the price of the arrangements. I could almost say ... It's difficult to place a value on the beauty, excellence and enjoyment everyone received who came to this event. Thank you All! You did an Amazing job and really beautified this sad occasion!!

So, I was in the shopping center and decided to stop by At Home and browse all things Halloween! There were so many Halloween decorations, I thought I was in Halloween heaven. There were blow up Halloween decorations. Some were interactive, they talked and moved when you walked by. I loved the banjo playing skeleton. But, he was $70. So, I am going to wait and see if he goes down in price anytime soon. There were a lot of cute plug in Halloween decorations. I really liked the plug in pumpkin decoration. He was so cute. There were some really scary decorations like the 3 headed dog. The prices were on the higher side. But, it is a little early to be shopping for Halloween. There was a singing and dancing witch that was adorable. They do need to hire some staff. There was not anyone on the sales floor and only one poor girl at the registers. If you like Halloween decorations this is a must stop place to go! Happy Halloween shopping. PS. I purchased a small ghost and smiling pumpkin. They look perfect in my home.
