On two separate occasions, I ordered the Lomo Saltado to go, and unfortunately, both times the beef was dry and overcooked, lacking the rich flavor that should define this classic dish. While the prices continue to rise, the food quality has noticeably decreased. As a proud Peruvian, I truly appreciate the art of Lomo Saltado, and I hope Mambo's can return to the exceptional standards I know they are capable of.

The rice and beans were pretty average, the beans were extremely plain, definitely could've been better. I would definitely come back to try a Cubano though since that's what they're known for and my friend who got one almost melted when she took a bite cause it was so delicious (I took a bite too and it really was very good!). Overall, the dishes were a bit bland and not as memorable as they used to be. The one thing I really enjoyed was the black beans--they were flavorful and were the highlight of the meal for me. The service was friendly, and the restaurant was clean with a nice atmosphere. I'm hoping this was just an off day because I'd be willing to give it another try.

As a first generation Cuban-American born and raised in Miami and married to a Cuban man, I am happy to report that Cuban Diner is the real deal. This is authentic Cuban food that is as good as the Cuban food easily found all over Miami. We started with croquetas and mariquitas. I ordered the bistec empanizado, hubby ordered the vaca frita, my son ordered the ropa vieja, my MIL orders the palomilla, and my FIL ordered a papa rellena and tamal along with a natural guava juice. We all shared bites of our plates with each other and everyone agreed that everything was absolutely delicious. My favorite was the vaca frita, so I stole a good bit from hubby and I also loved my FIL's guava juice. Service was good, but we got there shortly after opening so we had the place to ourselves. We noticed as it got busier, service definitely slowed considerably, but there was only one server for the whole place and one more handling to go orders. The one server did a fantastic job despite being the only one for multiple tables, but I did notice one couple left in frustration when they were not attended in a timely manner. I loved that they offer a total of 3 sides with the entrees, so you don't have to compromise on sides. I really enjoyed our meal and will be back to try more things on their menu soon. I definitely recommend Cuban Diner, but urge you to pack your patience if you go when there is a crowd. The good news is that the food will be well worth the wait!

My wait was short and pleasantly surprised by the large portions received. The tostones were large and plentiful! Had ample to share and take home. Everything was hot, fresh and meat well marinated with spices and onions. The accompanying sauce was an aioli that lacked a bit in flavor, and really not needed due to flavorful food. I believe it was for dipping plantain and mixed nicely with a spicy sauce Mariana suggested. I will definitely return again! Only caveat was parking. Ample space when I went, but confusing. The row closest to entry had paid parking signage, and the row closest to street had 2 hour parking with no apparent fees. Upon exit, some cars had tickets and several people were pondering why. May have exceeded the allotted time, so be mindful when parking. Overall, a good alternative to the eateries on the square.
