What a gem. I loved this restaurant that is in a house. It's beautifully decorated with all Cuban cositas. The service was great, our server gave us recommendations. I had the vegan picadillo which was so innovative- made from platinos instead of meat! So delicious with Moro and the salad was amazing too- everything homemade- Cuban home cooking!!! Loved everything!

It had a nice ambience and good customer service, but I think that they could have a few more vegetarian options. The soup tasted very homemade (it was a chicken soup), but the bowl had a vinaigrette mix that made it taste more like a salad than a bowl. I ordered the chicken soup with the rice bowl with the vegan option.

I had to update my review because despite being a Cuban who doesn't really care for most Cuban dishes, I have to admit that Lazaro's is one of the best dining establishments in all of Roswell. By far, the service here is unparalleled. Service at Lazaro's is ALWAYS fast, friendly, and efficient. We have never had anything but stellar service here and worlds better than even the fanciest, most expensive spots in town, which I think qualifies for five stars just based on that. Hubby loves his rice and beans here and the steak sandwich that he gets with it, which usually means he has at least half a sandwich left over for lunch the next day because their portions are generous. While I do like the steak sandwich and think their fries are some of the best around, I recently discovered their chorizo and manchego appetizer and OMG, I am hooked! They slice the chorizo into thin, bacon-like strips and then fry it. It is nothing short of amazing! I order it along with the bread basket that includes a generous helping of tiny Cuban tostadas and make my own little chorizo and cheese sandwiches, which makes my taste buds do a little happy dance. It includes a handful of olives and grapes too, which adds in some nice salty and sweet flavor. Hubby is super happy that I discovered this here because now he knows I am much more inclined to agree when he suggests Lazaro's for our date nights or even suggest it myself. If you have not tried Lazaro's yet, you are seriously missing out! I look forward to returning again soon for more great food and service. You should too!

    House Sangria- excellent!

Never disappoints! Excellent good, friendly, attentive wait service -the Sangria to die! My husband said he was in the mood for Sangria, where else? Food shut the front door delicious!

I recently had the pleasure of savoring some of the best Cuban cuisine I've encountered in over a decade. The vieja ropa and empanadas were outstanding, evoking the warmth and love of a traditional abuela's cooking.

We decided to head to Roswell for something different than our typical John's Creek fare. We came across Lazaro's and had heard about it for a few years. The location is in an old house, decorated with lights outside and adorned with lovely artwork in the various rooms. The service is homey and welcoming. We ordered spinach and corn empanadas empanadas that came with a sauce that should be bottled and we put it on everything. We also had cod fritters and a side salad. The fritters were okay but the dressing on the salad was unique and tangy. We had pulled pork, chicken, steak, and sausage. The dishes came with a nice rice, black beans and fantastic fried sweet plantains. The meats were fine but were slightly lacking flavor ( the aforementioned sauce helped. For dessert, we had one of our favorites, tres leches cake. This was authentic and crave worthy. This was a nice distraction from the usual standards and worth returning.

The food here is really tasty!! After looking at all the menu choices, I decided to order the traditional Cuban sandwich and a side of rice and beans. Oh! I also got the pork tamales that were loaded with shredded pork. Everything was outstanding!! My server was very friendly and I enjoyed eating my lunch in this family run, very colorful 'house' restaurant with many rooms.. I think you will like this place!

    Empanada, plantains and Yucca.
    Pamela R.

Food was excellent. Sauces were amazing. Yucca fries were crispy and zero oily taste or residue. Empanada was incredible with the mojo sauce. Highly recommend. Sat outside and had a relaxing Saturday lunch. Live down the street and will be making it a regular thing.

Outdoor dining under the magnolia is pleasant and tasty at Lazaro's. All your expected favorites are here, with some fun twists on classic Cuban dishes. Among other highlights, this is the one place that convinced my wife to change her 100% Ropa Vieja ordering record. So an extra half-star for that. If it's lunchtime, I'm likely to get something on Cuban bread. Whatever, just slap it between two loaves and smash it Cuba-style. Today was no change, and the steak was tasty, with rice/beans rounding out a huge portion. I know you're all pining for my wife's choice, and well you should. Apparently the star of their show is the roast pork, which is roasted for 24 hours or 24 months or something long. I agree it was flavorful, and I've been know to reject a 23-hour roast because I can tell. The lime sauce added a zesty topping. Take it from all the Cuban locals who pick this place for birthdays, celebrations, and more: they know the secret. From sangria to espresso, and of course tres leches and flan, head over and grab a table before it's too crowded.

If you love Cuban food, this restaurant is a MUST try. There are a few parking spaces out front but an ample sized parking lot behind the restaurant. There is outdoor dining area in front of the restaurant that is shaded by a huge Magnolia tree. Upon entry into Lazaro's, the kitchen and a bar area are on the left side of the restaurant with dining rooms in the back and right side of the restaurant. The dining areas are tastefully decorated with Spanish art with some funny Signs mixed in with the art. All of the seating is a combination of tables with seating for 4 or more guests. Our server was super friendly and answered all our questions about the menu. She brought the two of us menus and took our drink orders. My better half loved the large bottle of water that our server brought to the table. We ordered two sandwiches to share. One was a classic Cuban Sandwich and the other was the Spanish Sausage Sandwich. We both agreed that the Cuban Sandwich was the star of our plates. The pressed Cuban was adorned with tasty roasted pork piled high along with Black Forest Ham and Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard on Cuban bread. The Spanish Sausage sandwich was good but the sausage was a bit salty for our tastes. This sandwich has the same ingredients as the Cuban but the roasted pork is replaced with fried Spanish Sausage (our server compared it to bacon). For our sides we chose Yuca fries which were delicious; crispy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside. These were served with Laz sauce which is a tomato and mayo sauce. The other side we selected was the mixed rice which is rice cooked with black beans topped with diced purple onions and fresh chopped parsley. We really liked both of the sides. Our server checked on use regularly and always had a smile on her face and seemed to love her job which always makes the dining experience better. If you enjoy Cuban food, you need to run out to Lazaro's Cuban Cuisine for some great service and excellent Cuban dishes.

Food was okay - I ordered the Vaca Frita at the recommendation of the waitress. It wasn't "crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside," it was stringy and tough. It was too long between being served and the waitress showing up again to replace it since my wife was almost finished with her Cuban Sandwich (too much. I stare and too little meat). As a first generation Cuban-American born and raised in Miami and married to a Cuban man, I am happy to report that Cuban Diner is the real deal. This is authentic Cuban food that is as good as the Cuban food easily found all over Miami. We started with croquetas and mariquitas. I ordered the bistec empanizado, hubby ordered the vaca frita, my son ordered the ropa vieja, my MIL orders the palomilla, and my FIL ordered a papa rellena and tamal along with a natural guava juice. We all shared bites of our plates with each other and everyone agreed that everything was absolutely delicious. My favorite was the vaca frita, so I stole a good bit from hubby and I also loved my FIL's guava juice. Service was good, but we got there shortly after opening so we had the place to ourselves. We noticed as it got busier, service definitely slowed considerably, but there was only one server for the whole place and one more handling to go orders. The one server did a fantastic job despite being the only one for multiple tables, but I did notice one couple left in frustration when they were not attended in a timely manner. I loved that they offer a total of 3 sides with the entrees, so you don't have to compromise on sides. I really enjoyed our meal and will be back to try more things on their menu soon. I definitely recommend Cuban Diner, but urge you to pack your patience if you go when there is a crowd. The good news is that the food will be well worth the wait!

Mariana shared two different options for preparation and opted for the grilled with onions. I was given a buzzer to notify when ready. My lunch date, a friend from PTA days who was visiting had selected this location due to her liking of another food court vendor. Definitely options for everyone in your group! Her food order was ready for pickup as I waited for mine to be prepared. We selected seating inside, as outside was also an option. My wait was short and pleasantly surprised by the large portions received. The tostones were large and plentiful! Had ample to share and take home. Everything was hot, fresh and meat well marinated with spices and onions. The accompanying sauce was an aioli that lacked a bit in flavor, and really not needed due to flavorful food. I believe it was for dipping plantain and mixed nicely with a spicy sauce Mariana suggested. I will definitely return again! Only caveat was parking. Ample space when I went, but confusing. It was our first time here and he explained their background and what his favorites were on the menu. We for sure wanted to try the paella, so went ahead and ordered that first, with the carretillero ceviche, mixed empanadas (chicken and beef) and patatas bravos to start. The ceviche was delicious and fresh. Loved the fried calamari and all the toppings it was served with. The empanadas were also delicious and was served with a very spicy sauce! The patatas braves had a nice, smoky flavor. Now for entree, I ordered the veggie chaufa. Our server may have been a little biased as he preferred the Peruvian side of the menu, more so than the Cuban side. My dish was easily good for 2-3 people. It had tons of veggies and scrambled egg, plus served with a side of fried plantains. Our group ordered a bunch of other dishes and tried some of them. The churrasco steak was a little chewy but loved the chimichurri it was served with. The parrillada de mariscos was so good too, and my personal fave was the grilled octopus! Personally, I would opt for this instead of the valenciana paella. You essentially get the same types of seafood. I love that we got to dine at this hidden gem! We truly enjoyed our experience and will be back for sure.
