Combo plate - lack of meat
    Ryan T.

For a 16.99 combo plate, you would think you would get a little more meat. About 2 pounds of rice though. The gyro is not the typical rotisserie style and more of a beef patty. Maybe I'm used to Greek food in my home state, but this was very disappointing.

If you are like me and want healthy food on the go try Sahara Cafe. Fast, friendly service and fresh food prepared when you order! Lunch specials if you show up before 3:00 p.m. Indoor and outdoor seating, clean environment lots of options. There are plenty of tables that are actually clean and a nice modern atmosphere. Easy menu on the wall with photos so you can place your order at the counter. We actually ordered one plate which comes with two sides and a sauce. The gyro/chicken, humus, pita and we paid a little extra for the Greek fries, it's worth $2.99. It was plenty of food for two! The proof is in the photos!

Sahara is in a small strip mall on North Point. It took over the old House of Hummus spot. I've been here a few times, and the food is always great. I especially love the chicken shawarma and the falafel. The pita, Greek salad, and hummus are also worth checking out. The owners are super nice and will help you if you need guidance.

How this place is in business is crazy. The gyro meat I presliced microwave crap with zero flavor. They do NOT cook or make anything fresh here. Now I know why it was empty for lunch!

Wow wow wow!!! I was in the mood for Mediterranean food and couldn't have picked a better place! Food was phenomenal and service was great. The owner Yusra was incredible with us explaining the menu and making sure we were happy with the quality of the food. Great to see an owner that cares so much! Will definitely come back. Five !

Ran into a little gem while on errands in Alpharetta. This place had great Mediterranean fare. Everything was made fresh from the wonderful soup to the great gyro wraps. Will definitely hit this spot on the regular when in area.

Two things I have never had at Sahara Cafe - a bad meal, or bad service. Coming from a Lebanese household, my family can be harsh critics of Mediterranean food. But this place has quickly become our favorite spot in town. The owners and staff are always quick to strike up a conversation and deliver some of the most flavorful and fresh food I've had in the area.

One of the best shawarma places in alpharetta. This is where the old house of hummus was off of northpoint pkwy. They still do a ton of gluten free including pita. The falafel was outstanding. The salad dressing is unreal and very home made! The lady who owns it is so nice and kind and takes great care of everyone. The food is just awesome. Don't miss the braised lamb!

As they make the food order. One at a time, as ordered.

always freshly cooked food. Done onsite with outstanding prices and customer service.

One of our favorite places for Persian food. The best hummus, chicken Shawarma, Greek salad, and tomatoes and cucumber salad. Never disappoints!! It's a neighborhood gem. Nice and clean restaurant---and the service is always great and accommodating.

We had 4 adults and one 3 year old. We got out for something in the neighborhood of of $240. Ordering is ala carte: we had 3 meats, 3 sides, drinks. We had a very small bit left over. Decor was excellent. A beautiful entryway, muted lighting, muted noise. Service was attentive, friendly, and very helpful. While I'd love to return regularly, price makes that impossible, but it was definitely worth this visit. It will be up for consideration next time we have something big to celebrate.

As a longtime San Francisco Bay Area foodie, I've been spoiled by incredible international food and…read morebold, complex flavors, so I'm always excited when I find a restaurant that delivers that same sense of discovery. Delbar absolutely does. The food here stands on its own--layered, interesting and incredibly delicious. I had been looking forward to dinner at Delbar Old Milton for two reasons: a long-overdue dinner with an old colleague and a serious craving for Middle Eastern food. After battling Atlanta-area traffic from Marietta--it took nearly an hour for what should have been about a 30-minute drive--I was ready to settle in, catch up and EAT. I'd previously been to Delbar in Inman Park with a group and loved it, so expectations were high. Old Milton did not disappoint. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Warm, sophisticated and beautifully designed, with a Persian rug welcoming you along the entrance and complimentary valet parking--a huge plus. The young valet team was impressively polished and efficient. I started with a Paper Plane, apparently my new financially irresponsible cocktail habit. Delicious, but these things are expensive! I blame the Italian liqueur. Two cocktails pushed north of $40, so perhaps I need a more economical signature drink. Then came the food. We started with the beet carpaccio: red beets, whipped feta, burnt honey, sour orange, pistachio and almond dukkha. Beautifully balanced--earthy, creamy, sweet, tart and nutty all at once. I let my dinner companion take over ordering from there, which proved to be an excellent decision. The Bandari Olovieh was the surprise of the evening: saffron-marinated smoked salmon with cream cheese, dill, chives, jalapeño purée, potatoes, Aleppo pepper, urfa, hot sauce, fried capers and cornichons, served with saffron potato chips. I'm not usually a salmon person, yet I loved this. The salmon was mild and delicate without the stronger flavor I sometimes associate with salmon or trout. And those saffron potato chips? Dangerous. I could happily eat a bowl of them. We also had the koobideh kabob, made with ground beef brisket and lamb shoulder with onion and saffron, served over taftoun with grilled pepper, tomato and sumac onions. Tender, juicy and packed with flavor. Wrapped in that bread, it was almost like the world's most delicious little Middle Eastern slider. By then, we were DONE. I had every intention of trying dessert, but there was simply no room. It was also getting late, and work was waiting for both of us the next morning. Next visit. Service throughout dinner was friendly and knowledgeable. This is a menu where good servers matter. Ours could explain the dishes and ingredients rather than simply take an order, and that added to the experience. Two small notes on the space. If Atlanta is doing its summertime furnace impression, I'd avoid tables near the doors leading to the patio. Every time they opened, a blast of hot air rolled through. Sit farther inside and enjoy the AC. And while I loved the Persian rug and overall design, the faux flowers and wisteria covering the entrance pergola weren't my favorite. Atlanta sun is brutal on anything artificial, and the rest of the restaurant is sophisticated enough that the entrance deserves something equally polished. Those are minor quibbles. The important part is this: Delbar is serving seriously delicious food in a beautiful setting with thoughtful service. If you're anywhere around Alpharetta or Roswell, make the detour. This place is not to be missed. Life is too short not to eat well. Get out there and find your next meal! Sorry, no photos;(

After speaking with the staff, i believe Mashawi is more specifically palestinian. The concept of this place is what sets it apart. They make it easy for the new comer or the veteran by telling you that there is nothing to order, you just enjoy. Right out of the gate, the side dishes and salads are presented like you are at a wedding feast. It is family style so you have to be quick if you want first dibs on the babaganoush or the hummus, and especially the Falafel (best i have ever had). Don't worry if you are slow to the draw because they will refill all sides and salads. The hardest part abotu Mashawi is having self conctrol because what comes next is a parade of seasoned meats and proteins that only get better. Reccomend the Steak, Kifta, and shrimp and Salmon. I have only been for dinner and at the end of this glorious meat train, they will ask if you would like more! It's a great family experience, or a night out with other friends. If you are wanting to introduce this cuisine to rookies, this place is perfect because there is no pressure to choose the right item. There plenty of choices for everyone to find something to eat. My last piece of advice would be to wait to order the Mint Drink at the end as a paltte clenser. They tempt you with a taste at first, but waiting till the end is the perfect punctuation to a unique and unforgettable meal.

We tried Mashawi for the first time and thought the concept was interesting -- different Middle…read moreEastern meats are brought directly to the table, somewhat similar to a Brazilian steakhouse experience. At $45.99 per adult, it is less expensive than Fogo de Chão, so I wouldn't expect the same level of meat quality. We tried quite a few of the meats, and while everything was fine, we found the quality, texture, and flavor fairly average. The portions brought to the table were also surprisingly small -- for example, two shrimp and a very small piece of salmon at a time. Since it is all-you-can-eat, you can ask for more, but overall the experience didn't feel particularly generous. The most unusual part of our experience was the mansaf. It is listed as part of the all-inclusive menu, and since none of us had ever tried it, we specifically asked for it. The gentleman serving us strongly discouraged us from ordering it, explaining that mansaf is very heavy and that usually Jordanian customers come specifically for it. Later, when we asked again, he told us that since we were already full, there was really no need to order it. He did say he would bring it if we really wanted it, but after being discouraged multiple times, it felt awkward to insist, so we ultimately didn't try it. We understand that mansaf comes as a large dish and that he may simply have been trying to prevent food waste, which is understandable. At the same time, since it is specifically listed as an included item, we were surprised to be so strongly discouraged from ordering it. We were genuinely interested in trying a traditional Jordanian dish, not simply ordering more food because it was included. Overall, the concept is interesting and the price is reasonable for an all-you-can-eat meal. It is also fair to keep the lower price point in mind when comparing it with places like Fogo. But between the average meat quality, small portions, and the awkward experience around ordering the mansaf, we probably won't return.

The salmon was fully cooked but still flaky and tender, and juicy. I found it flavorful enough, but there is a salt and pepper grinder on the table if you need it.
