This was an excellent lunch. The staff was incredibly friendly and even let me sample two of their house-made sauces for free--both were outstanding. The restaurant itself is clean and welcoming, with a feel that's more upscale than a typical counter-service spot. The food came out quickly, and it's clear they take pride in what they make. The gyro meat was especially impressive--very flavorful, tender, juicy, and some of the better gyro meat I've had. The produce was fresh, and the wrap itself was excellent as well. The only area for improvement was the rice. It was fairly plain, lacked seasoning, and was a bit wet. The portion was also on the smaller side considering how inexpensive rice typically is. That said, the quality and portion of the gyro more than made up for it. Overall, it was a great meal and a solid value. I would absolutely return. read more

For a 16.99 combo plate, you would think you would get a little more meat. About 2 pounds of rice though. The gyro is not the typical rotisserie style and more of a beef patty. Maybe I'm used to Greek food in my home state, but this was very disappointing. read more

About lunchtime today, I thought to myself " I would love a good gyro." I fired up Yelp and I found Sahara! I remembered from a trip to another delicious favorite of mine (Mama's Pizza) in that plaza that they at somewhat recently opened up. The gyro was fantastic. It was stuffed with lamb, veggies and a great tzatziki sauce. I also ordered a feta, tomato and cucumber salad and it was also really really good. Highly recommend. read more

Lunch specials if you show up before 3:00 p.m. Indoor and outdoor seating, clean environment lots of options. There are plenty of tables that are actually clean and a nice modern atmosphere. Easy menu on the wall with photos so you can place your order at the counter. We actually ordered one plate which comes with two sides and a sauce. Sahara is in a small strip mall on North Point. It took over the old House of Hummus spot. I've been here a few times, and the food is always great. I especially love the chicken shawarma and the falafel. The pita, Greek salad, and hummus are also worth checking out. The owners are super nice and will help you if you need guidance. read more

One of the best shawarma places in alpharetta. This is where the old house of hummus was off of northpoint pkwy. They still do a ton of gluten free including pita. The falafel was outstanding. The salad dressing is unreal and very home made! The lady who owns it is so nice and kind and takes great care of everyone. The food is just awesome. Don't miss the braised lamb! read more

This is the first time visiting the Sahara Cafe. It's in the same location the House of Hummus was in a few years ago. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Pita with a side of fries and got it to go. On the way home the delicious smell was making me very hungry. The chicken shawarma pita was delicious with fresh grilled, perfectly spiced white meat chicken along with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and homemade tzatziki sauce. The fries were hand cut potatoes, fried and seasoned with salt and Mediterranean spices. Hussein was very friendly and helpful and told me how they make everything fresh and healthy using Mediterranean herbs and spices. He even gave me a side of his Peri-Peri hot sauce to try which he makes from scratch. It was also very good! I highly recommend the Sahara Cafe to anyone looking for absolutely fresh and delicious Mediterranean food. read more

Our inaugural visit was last week (September 26). Upon entering, we were immediately and warmly greeted by Yusra. We explained it was our first visit, and she took time to explain the menu to us. The choices were plentiful, and it took a few minutes to decide. We all chose the Chicken Shawarma Plate with various sides. Each bite was more delicious than the previous. Once we ordered, our food was prepared fresh by Sam and delivered to our table. Our meals were delicious, plentiful and very good tasting. Yusra checked on us during our meal as she interacted with other guests. The prices were very reasonable, and we left with a promise that next time we are in Alpharetta, we will be back. Was welcomed when I came in the door by a nice young lady. Then she went through the menu and explained/recommend what I should order. I settled on the combo gyro with the garlic sauce based on the young lady's recommendation and wow it was amazing. My wife got the shawarma chicken meal and really enjoyed it as well. She was a big fan of the fries. The food was really good and I felt valued as a customer which is nonexistent these days. We will definitely be back! read more

Ordered take-out this evening 1st thing --The owner is extremely pleasant. 2nd thing -- Inside is really clean and the dining area is comfortable. Now onto the food! I ordered (2) Chicken Shawarma plates and (1) Chicken and Gyro Combo plate. The portions are huge. Everything was cooked to order. Great presentation and OMG the sauces rock! We decided to try this new restaurant which took the place of the hummus house. We were looking at the menu which was posted on the wall and the very pleasant lady behind the counter help explain the menu, we decided on a couple plates. The place was empty except for another guest, looks like their main business is to go or lunch time. Our food was very good, I was not expecting something this quality. I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 was due to the price, think its was just a bit overpriced. I can go to a couple of nearby places for a better bargain. There is a good bit of competition in the area for Mediterranean food. read more

My first time after renovating the place. Very clean and cozy ambiance. Smiley faces welcoming us . Reasonable prices but the most the tasty and delicious food. I met Hussein the owner and knew that he has another branch in Buckhead. I got a lamb gyro plate with rice and fries. The fries were exceptional. If you are close to Northpoint Parkway don't miss to stop by for a delicious yummy bite at Sahara Mediterranean. Highly recommend it read more

I have been going to this restaurant for lunch at least once per week. The food is fantastic! I have never tasted chicken so tender and flavorful. The salad is made with quality types of lettuce. And the humus is so fresh. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. They really go out of their way to make you happy. The vibe is fresh with nice background music. All the folks that eat there seem very friendly. The prices are in line with what you would expect for a meal several notches above normal fast food places. I will definitely keep coming back! read more

We got the hummus and pita. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the best hummus I've ever had. And I don't particularly like hummus! We also got the fattoush salad and the lamb skewers. The portions are generous so we had leftovers as well. There are a lot of Mediterranean restaurants in the Atlanta area but this is definitely one of my favorites. It's worth the drive.

I went with a group of 8 friends, and while this place was small, the man working the counter was more than happy to accommodate us. It is a pick up counter style place where you order up front and then sit down. They call you by name when your order is ready which isn't too long. You then go to the window and pick up your food and bring it to the table. If I had any qualm it would just be that they give plastic cutlery. Since there's a lot of meat in their plates it is tough to cut with plastic utensils. But the place isn't super fancy or anything so you can just pick it up and tear with your teeth lol. The lamb is a little pricey but it is so good I would definitely order it again at that price.
