I fully agree with Jeannette B. and Mitchell D. --THE WORST Two "climate control" units rented. Price tripled in three years. Moving out--a nightmare because movers found rats' nests, rat feces, and mold & mildew on furniture. Oriental rug damaged beyond repair due to moisture (rug experts think it was water). Cube Smart reaction to my bringing to their attention "we have evidence of rats"---"It's not OUR fault!" Well, then whose? Manager explained that customers leave food in units, attracting rats. She said she "puts pellet out" for rats. Oh--so she IS aware of a rat problem. Yes, she admitted. Never notified customers. She does, however replenish the rat poison packet in a corner of a unit prior to a new customer using that unit. I doubt that she points out this extra service! As for any damage, "it's not our fault"-- Wood furniture dried and cracked. Rats gnawed through wrapped mattress, made more nests. Yuck! Professional movers would not take all the contents of the unit because the mold would contaminate their truck. Cube Smart staff unhelpful, unprofessional, rude. INSURANCE IS WORTHLESS--doesn't cover mold, mildew or rodents. Earthquakes, yes... IF THEY REALLY HAD "CLIMATE CONTROL" THERE WOULD BE NO MOLD, MILDEW OR RATS. SAVE YOUR PROPERTY AND YOUR MONEY--NO CUBE SMART! I agree with Donna J -- NO stars should be an option! AND Jeannette B rented at the SAME Cube Smart in Columbus OH! Awful Place! Unprofessional, disrespectful staff! District Manager gave me extra time to empty our 2 units. Last day was March 31st. Went to 3344 Morse Road on March 31st, gate code didn't work. Asked manager what the problem was, and in a nasty, juvenile tone said, "you don't have an account here so no access." I explained that the District Manager had kindly granted me until March 31st. She wasn't fazed--NO ACCESS. I allowed as how this kind of treatment is typical of Cube Smart, to which she yelled, "You are rude. GET OUT!" Called VP in Chicago, had to leave vm, then called DM who gave a successful gate code." Oriental rug professionals were meeting us a the unit since the rug looked nasty and I arranged for them to pick it up to clean it. When they opened it, rolled out on the driveway, I thought they were going to cry. "This WAS worth over $10,000, but now due to the water damage, all we can do is cut it down to a smaller size, repair and clean it"(over $2K to do this). I called the manager to come and look at the rug. No answer. My husband was at the front of the office and saw that she didn't pick up the phone (probably knew my number). He went in and asked her to take a look at this rug. Her reply was that this had NOTHING to do with Cube Smart; it was an issue between us and the rug people. No acknowledgement that Cube Smart's NON-Climate Controlled unit destroyed this rug. Currently have a case filed with Attorney General's office, writing to BBB, Secretary of State, and any/all state/local agencies and legal avenues to try to keep this from happening to anyone else! Oddly, city and county health departments had no jurisdiction/interest in rats in storage units :-( read more

Close to where we are now, convenient location. Only one employee which can make it take longer in this technology driven age. Frankie is very nice. It took an hour to get the unit. I was disappointed that the inside ones and the one reserved wasn't available. I had to opt for the exterior access. Upon seeing the size I reserved and realizing it wasn't big enough to fit our items, I had to go up a size. Which of course costs more. All in all for what it is being used for it should work out. Just temporary storage until we move into our next house. We also used the truck for...not free as advertised on the truck itself. It was $10 for 4 hours with a $100 cash deposit. We got the $100 back afterwards. There were a few negatives regarding the truck itself. It was very old and the tire pressure was low upon receiving it. It was extremely dirty on the inside, both the cab and the cargo area. It didn't come with anything, a blanket or a bungee to tie down. Hell it didn't even have a ramp for easier access. But that isn't the most annoying thing, it is that you have to bring a receipt proving that you put gas back in it. Or they charge you some outrageous amount of money. We got it full and returned it full because we only put 8 miles on it. So the gas station across the street had half the pumps closed so it had cars 2 and 3 deep. So I had to drive another mile or two up the road. I figured it would click off after a gallon if it even took a gallon. Well it ended up not clicking off at all. It only stopped when I noticed the gas pouring out from under the truck. Super pissed. I almost feel like they know there is a hole in the gas tank but don't tell you on purpose. Also the first month free is a bunch of B.S. You have to pay for the lock, the insurance they offer and the administrative fee. Which equals the monthly fee or more with tax. Hopefully we will only need it for a month or two. read more

I have been with this company as a renter since 2016. Prices increase every 3 months which I just dealt with. But I went in to engage in conversation about some concerns with a store manager named Mike and he gave the worst customer service I have ever had. I question the increases and was going to rent a 3rd unit at the online price. He was very condescending and antagonistic. As we walked through the door he started recording our conversation but did say he was recoding until we were about to leave. He literally laughed in our faces at some of the concerns we expressed and basically told us that if you don't like the customer service then go somewhere else. Then called his manager and was very calm telling her he had an upset customer and explained every reason we were wrong. He said if you continue to address your concerns I won't rent you anything. Needless to say we are shutting it all down. Pulling all of our units out and going elsewhere. I MATTER and I DESERVE to be respected. This is the store at 3344 Morse Rd. We were profiled walking through the door. Update: I spoke to District Manager today and she apologized for our experience and said she would forward information to the necessary departments to make sure it doesn't happened again. Ask what she could do to rectify the situation, I requested an apology from that store manager, Mike. I was politely told I cannot promise that because we each have our own perception of the interaction and our perception is our reality. As a manager, as long as you are not in danger, there are times you need to take one for the team but I guess not at CubeSmart. Again, I say I MATTER and I DESERVE to be respected. Wish I could leave zero stars. Our unit was broken in to while we were out of the country. Site management could not or would not communicate via email and photos. We had to wait until we returned to the US almost two months later to review the condition of our belongings and to try to catalogue what we'd lost. BTW, the value of what we lost was well in excess of the basic $2K of insurance offered. Site management customer service was cold, impersonal and lacking in empathy. We asked for some consideration on the two months of rent for our violated belongings. And we were told simply, "No". Not even making a pretense of going to bat with Corporate on our behalf. The site manager could not be bothered. I believe the facility's "No Contact" method of renting - specifically, of leaving a cylinder lock is a vacant unit - helped the thieves carry on their effort to steal all of our belongings over a course of several weeks. So, we are leaving due to 1.) Poor site security; 2.) Disinterested site management with poor customer service skills; and 3.) A corporate rental policy that allows access to units without having renters identifiable to management. read more

this was the worst customer service ive every experience. The store manager was very rude as soon as we walked through the door. The storage was put in my girlfriends name because I forgot my I.D. & as soon as I tried to ask questions he said this is her storage and only would answer questions from her like my presenc didn't matter. Then the day before our monthly lease we call to tell him everything was moved out and wouldn't need it another month. He responded with well we are about to close and I don't have your unit keys so you will be charged another mont. I said we will have the keys to you tomorrow he said we will still be charged another full month no if ands or buts. I asked for corporates information and he refused saying he's following corporates rules & since I'm not the actual account holder that he didn't need to talk to me & hung up. I have rented with this CubeSmart location for a year and a half now. Upon move-in, they were extremely friendly and flexible. As a requirement to store here, you must have insurance, which I purchased through them. I decided to move my things out after my rent was raised for a 2nd time in under 2 years. Upon going to get my items, there was mouse feces all over the floor, in my couch cushions, on my mattress, and even in boxes with dishes and every household item imaginable stored. No one was in the office to let them know. I have called the location 4 times today with no answer, and twice to their corporate office in which I was disconnected when they transferred me to the store. We will see what comes of it, and if they will pay for items to be professionally cleaned, or replaced if I find holes. read more
