Very courteous, clean and well-maintained. Shawn and his staff do a great job all-around! In addition to the reasonable cost, CubeSmart has a $10 move-in van. It is actually available too, unlike the phantom trucks that other places advertise but rarely have. Clean and runs well (gold stars for that). My cube is clean and indoors. This section of the property is new -- and it's nice! The inside dimensions aren't really 10x10x10. More like 10x8.5x8. This place is a clown show . They never answer their phones, the office is always closed and locked during business hours. The paint is run down and looks like crap. Whoever is in charge of this place is just taking advantage of the free rent upstairs. The gate was broken and just left open for several days/almost a week. They aren't up to date on contact with clients. I have had a few friends broken into here. Not a place I plan to have my storage unit. You know I have a really good suspicion about this storage facility location. Got a call today from an employee at Pleasanton CubeSmart notifying me that my storage unit had been tampered with and didn't have a lock on it. Really! This is the second occurrence that this has happened at this storage facility. The first time was in a different unit number. I downsized to a smaller unit now this unit was broken off. The first incident in the old unit the employee whose name rhymes with Osh said that a bump key was probably used to break into the unit. Now this time I changed to a combination lock. But oh wait just today I was told somehow there was no lock on the unit according to him! That's strange I was just at my unit recently and made sure the lock was on like always. No coincidence but for this to happen twice and the same employee that "discovered" my unit without a lock gave me the same BS story about the pandemic blah blah blah and how people are desperate. If you ask me deep in my soul I believe he's the storage burglar! Please reply if anyone has ever had this experience or any strange unusual happen to you at this location. read more

The price is definitely better than Public storage, and I hope it wont raise its prices nearly as much, but they do need some renovations and for sure need more push carts around. I've only been a few times so far but can never seem to find a cart to help move my stuff in which means way more trips than necessary. I have rented here many times over the years. I paused for about two years because of rats. The problem with rats is rampant. I had thought it went away so I went back and was in my unit for about 2-3 months and discovered another Rat. Needless to say I'm upset about it. I scheduled a 10am pick up of a Penske moving truck. I showed up at 10:20am and doors were locked with a "Will Return at 11am" sign. I knocked because there were two guys in there. They opened the door, pointed at the sign and said "Umm can I help you?" I let him know I was here for my pickup and he pointed at the sign and said "We are on a conference call." I said I was ready to pick up and he said "Well we are busy with something - we will help you when we're done." What? You're on a conference call and a customer shows up and you lock the doors and keep them waiting? He looked at me like I had interrupted something that he had been doing. Upon returning to drop off the vehicle, we had another VERY negative interaction with the same guy. Felt like he had so many other things better to do than have a conversation with us or give us good customer support. Rats and poop all over this place beware! I have thousands of dollars in damages from rats and Cube-smart is not liable for anything they said and the insurance they provide doesn't cover rodents! They haven't offered and type of help except $25 off rent for 1 month WOW! This place is INFESTED WITH RATS!! Less than a mile away from the city dump. Save your self and go to uhaul not worth saving $10 a month to get infested with rats. The management is no help he said just keep submitting claims when the insurance clearly states they do not cover rodents, all he offered was $25 off my next months rent! This place is a joke, ran down no security and also no maintenance or cleaning at all please save yourself and go somewhere else. They said a "stoner" was a couple units away from me and had his unit filled with food which is why they said the rats got to my unit so they moved me to another building which they said had no rats but sure enough it was also infested. I packed everything even though rats got to more than half of my stuff, and took it to uhaul about a mile away much cleaner also they actually have security and I didn't see any rat droppings anywhere in uhaul, where as the second you walk into cube smart there is a smell and also rat poop everywhere. Customer Service was great. I reserved an uncovered RV space online. I showed up unexpectedly a day early nervous that they wouldn't be able to accommodate. Josh was more than helpful and got us a spot a day early. The very next day, we got a call from a year long waiting list at a facility that has covered parking with electrical hookups and we decided to move our RV. Our RV was parked for less than 24 hours at CubeSmart, when I signed the lease I knew they didn't offer partial refunds for days of the month that weren't used. I thought I'd ask anyway for some kind of refund because of the VERY short period of time. I spoke with David this time, he said he would have no problem submitting the request. I sure enough received a full refund 10 days later. If I have a need for any other storage, I will definitely go back to CubeSmart. read more

WATER DAMAGE...Renting Inside storage to keep items weather safe, but was not the case. Just opened my storage unit and it had water damage to my items. When we spoke with the manager there, he informed us that the place is built on a marsh and sometimes when there is a lot of rain the water can seep in where there might be cracks in the concrete slabs. This would have been good to know beforehand. He said he would put his things on a pallet if he was storing things. With the amount of water that must have been on the floor, I find it hard to believe that our unit was the only one with water. I find it hard to believe no one brought this to their attention before now. If knowing water could be an issue, when we had all the rain you would think they would be monitoring it and then send emails to people to inform us we so we might want to check our belongings. Friendly Staff, Well Maintained, Great Experience I have just vacated my unit after renting a space for about a year. The facility is always very clean. The gate and the lights have always worked. We have never had a concern. I liked being able to see what units were available and at what cost when I was looking online for storage last year. During the heavy rains last season, we got a call and a follow-up call to make sure we came in and checked our unit to make sure there were no issues. So I'm going to start off by saying, DONT store your things here. Upon moving in we were required to get insurance from a third party they referred us to get. We got it of course, a couple months later we come to find out all of our things are covered in rat poop and rat urine. They told us that a tenant two storages down was storing food and sleeping in their unit. The manger told us to contact the insurance but unfortunately they don't cover rodents which is OBSURD. My boyfriend left a Yelp review and the owner replied to the Yelp and asked for our contact details, the owner contacted us and offered us 25$ off of our storage bill next month and that's all he can do! which doesn't help because we have expensive damaged items! Like this is the worst storage unit possible, i came this morning to check on my storage (they moved our unit to the A building) and better yet i see rats running down the hall and i hear a bunch of ruckus all over the building! Sadly they are infested with rodents AND if your stuff gets damaged then your screwed they won't offer anything but "25$ off" btw there's dead rats all over the place DONT MOVE IN. I started renting a storage unit a few months before flooding occurred in the area. We had insurance on the unit, however, we found out the insurance has some weird restrictions that prevented the exact coverage we needed. We reached out to the management and expected some kind of reasonable accommodation and action pursuant of the incidence but to no avail. We were not offered any reasonable accommodation. Instead, we were offered another unit that we had to pay for and no help to cover any of the loss we incurred., which included hundreds of books and valuables. We reached out to the corporate office but received no feedback. They seemed to be totally indifferent. The company and the insurance company. They still charged us the full monthly amount of the storage we were renting as well as for the following months since we had no way of clearing everything out immediately. Very very disappointing!!!! If you ever have to rent here make sure you have your items waterproofed or just don't rent. read more

I have rented storage facilities for the past 12 to 15 years to store my holiday ornaments. I rented a 10 x 12 at cube smart in the beginning of 2021. I went to CubeSmart the end of November and found my unit to be infested with rats/mice. There was feces and urine all over my belongings. When I reported it to management he asked me if I had any food in there which I said no, just ornaments. Then he said he could give me some rodent killer. I told him I could buy that at Walmart. I said who is it going to get this unit cleaned out, he would not help. I asked how this was going to be prevented from happening again, No response time that I've rented a storage unit I've never had this issue. I drove around this very large facility and there were three rat/mouse traps, All of which were broken and in disarray. The gentleman at the store, who was actually very rude, said he would have the manager call me. This never happened, so I Reached out to their corporate office who said that they would have the manager call me. No response. So every day for three days I have called the corporate office and ask for the district manager to call me. I was assured that the dIstrict manager would call me, no phone calls.This place is a health hazard - if my unit is like others. The GOOD: The front counter personnel (David) Very customer friendly and courteous. Site appears to be reasonably clean. The 800 customer service people, are courteous as well. The BAD: 1. Little to ...NO security. If one of your criteria is security, I would go elsewhere. I have found the exit gate in the OPEN position several times and for hours at a time. People (assuming they are customers) drive in and go around the entry side gate and through the exit gate, bypassing the log in procedure ...this is NOT security. There is apparently a live in onsite manager. Not sure why he does not see the open gate and take care of it? 2. On two occasions, I tried to access my storage area between the 6:am to 10:pm customer hours, and was not allowed in the entry gate via the keypad security system. Keypad would not take my pass code and indicated I was not accessing the premises during the normal customer hours. I was there at 6:30 am, and another time at 7:30 am respectively. 800 support got in touch with the onsite manager and I was able to get in. The first occurrence took me 30 minutes to get through the gate, was a big waste of my valuable move time. 3. Was told I could bump up or down unit sizes within the 30 day free trial time. When I went to bump up to a larger unit, was told I had to pay full price for the bigger unit. I reminded them about the conversation of bumping up for free. I was told that the free bump up or down was based on their availability, apparently they only had 2 units left in the size I wanted to bump up to. If there is 3 or more available units then its free. If they make a commitment to bump up for free, then they should stick to it. How do I know what their availability is. 4. District manager. Already had one conversation with him. Does not appear to have a policy of follow through on complaints and fixes. Lots of competition for business in the storage industry. If the other Cubesmart locations are like this I will not rent from them again. read more

If I could give the district manager who called us a 5 star review I would but unfortunately I initially had a bad encounter with who answered our call originally and with the "manager" on staff who both misinformed my husband and I And were very rude when I called and asked questions several times. I'm changing my review because received a call back from the district manager, who was even on vacation and he still took the time out to reach out to us to fix the problem and correct the misinformation we were given. Sean took care of me.. They have competitive discounts for the first month rent. I think the prices are better than public storage. The price hikes are not often as with some other storage facilities and I'm not sure I have even had one hike after a year minimum. The facility is clean and well maintained with easy access for moving stuff in and out. There are large push carts everywhere around the facility available for your use. The push carts are very convenient for moving boxes or large items to and from your car. Inside is kept at a comfortable temperature and they always play music which helps with the boredom of working inside a storage unit. Much better experience overall than public storage. The facility is also available for entry until at least 9pm on weeknights and good hours on the weekends as well(can't recall exact hours). This facility is recommended. read more

I should write good reviews when I've experienced great customer service, but lately it seems most storage facilities hire the worst possible managers for customer service! First let me say the the employee Matt was very helpful and nice. I am giving him 2 stars. The other guy, gets 1 star. I was very impressed how Matt gave me such a good rate and was so nice and helpful. I came in on a Sunday and told him I would be moving things right away. We had my boyfriends fathers truck for only that day. We loaded it up, got back to the place and Matt had forgot to remove his lock! No one was there. I called and left a message but never got a call back until the next day. We had to unload the entire truck and put everything back because we had to return the truck. The next day he called and was very apologetic. I told him that I only rented the place that day because I had the truck. I told him I wanted to start my rental from the next weekend or get a weeks credit since we had gone through the trouble and we couldn't get the truck until the next weekend. He told me when I paid for my first month, they would give me a week. That week I put a couple things in my car and came in with the lock. Matt wasn't there. The other guy (don't know his name) helped me with my lock and told me Matt didn't tell him about what happened, but I was supposed to have my lock on it within 24 hours. (how in the hell was I supposed to put my own lock on it when their lock was on it?!) I told him what Matt said about taking off a week. He said he needed to talk to him and he would get back with me. He called and I stopped in and he told me that he would only give me a $20 credit, and that was generous because my unit figures out to be only $6 a day and I only lost 1 day! I explained the trouble we went through to get the truck, load it, couldn't get in because the lock was left on, unloaded the truck, and we would have to get the truck again and reload and unload, but he had no sympathy. I told him that I wanted a week's credit that Matt had told me he'd give me, and he said he talked to Matt and Matt told him he told me something completely different. I told him I was writing this review, but I wanted to wait to see if Matt would contact me to apologize for his co-worker's poor customer service. I also called the corporate office and was told that a district manager would call me back. No one called me. I removed me 2-3 items from the unit and asked for a refund. I was told no, that they get to keep my $30. ($20 for the administrative fee and $10 for insurance.) I told him the district manager would refund me and never got a call. I've had a unit here for about a year and I've never had any issues with billing, customer service, or rodents (you're typical issues with a storage rental). I love this place because I can rent their moving truck for about $40 with NO hassle. I've rented it three times now and the process has always been easy. The manager in the office is always super helpful. The price of a unit will be slightly more than what you might pay somewhere else, but you get what you pay for. The office is very clean, the grounds are clean, the units are clean, and the place feels safe and secure which is all that I'm looking for. read more

We are so pleased with the service that we received from Cube Smart. We have rented here before and it was a no brainer to return to this site. The site is secure, clean and well cared for so that we know our things will be safe. For us, since we are located in downtown Pleasanton, the location was just the best option for us. But in addition to the location, it is the first rate, friendly, professional staff that make this our "go to" place to rent extra storage space. We moved across the country and needed basically a couple weeks to store our stuff while we found a place. They had a promotion for one month free, which was to be in the form of a reimbursement. First off, the gentleman at the desk was rather curt - but that's ok, I don't expect everyone to be happy everyday. The problem was, we got our stuff out in time, and they said they would send us our refund check as part of the promotion in 4 weeks. We set our alarms on our phone calendars. Four weeks came, no check. We called and followed up, and they repeated somewhat rudely, that it was four to six weeks. When we told them that that was what we were told before, they simply repeated their statement. It has been over three months and no check. I am too busy to waste my time callng them back and dealing with them, especially when they seem to be rude each time. They may be good for people who need to store stuff there long-term, but if you are looking for a short rental period, you have fair warning. read more
