I used Cucamonga Cakery through my wedding at The Christmas House Inn, and my experience was lackluster. My (now) husband and I looked through the extensive flavor list several times before going, but were fairly lost on what we wanted. My husband is an excellent baker and cook, so he wanted to see how things wound up tasting for reasons relating to types of flour used and artificial vs natural flavoring and other such things. We waited for them to be ready for us, then were given five different cakes to sample -- we had not requested these specific flavors, and not one of them were flavors we would have chosen. In fact, I was allergic to the ingredients in two of them, and thusly couldn't even sample them. They apparently make 5 cakes every however many days and those are the samples you get to try, and that's it. My husband asked about some of the ingredients, and the woman helping us (one of the owners) didn't know any of the details about them at all. He also wanted a gluten free groom's cake, and she didn't know anything about how they make those either. Looking at the sheet of flavors, I chose a filling I was interested in and asked what sort of cake it went well with. Her response was she didn't really know, and they had used it with one type of cake to make sort of a cookie flavor for a kids birthday party--not what I imagined for my wedding, so I asked if it would go well with the white champagne cake and her response was she didn't know. It all went downhill from here. Not being able to try anything we wanted, we kept asking if the flavors we were interested in would meld well together, to which she would respond she didn't know and then sit there in silence staring at us and occasionally check the time and ask if we knew what we wanted yet. I was wildly uncomfortable and starting to panic about being pressured to make a choice completely uneducated with absolutely no guidance from the "expert." I asked if we could go home and think about it and get back to her but she didn't like that idea and said we could if we absolutely had to but she really needed an answer ASAP and now would be ideal (this was four months before the wedding). We chose a flavor and hoped it would work out. Moving on to the decor, we brought a couple of photos of cakes we liked. I bought a package with The Christmas House Inn that included a cake. I honestly don't know how much of that amount was towards the cake, but according to this woman if we wanted pretty much any decoration at all on the cake it would cost extra. Everything we brought up she said they could do, but it would cost hundreds of dollars extra. Of course. So it came down to my husband and I figuring out ourselves how these expert cake makers could make a similar decoration on the cake without it costing an extra million dollars (photo included for reference, it's literally just a frosted cake that's airbrushed with a watercolor pattern, it is so simple). She agreed to do the simple version that we came up with (thank goodness my husband bakes, these people will take such advantage!!) Day of, the cake showed up, it looked quite similar to the photo we brought, it tasted fine (not spectacular, but hey we were riding blind). The gluten free grooms cake was pretty terrible, had the consistency of a bran muffin, can't recommend that one at all, I would go with a gluten free bakery or make it yourself if you're good at baking like my husband -- if we lived closer he probably would have done that. I'm not sure what to tell people except somehow know exactly what flavor you want before you go and you most likely won't be able to try it. Don't expect ANY help or guidance from the people who are supposed to be helping you, and the cake will be perfectly mediocre. As an end note, I spoke with Janice at the Christmas House Inn about this experience and she apologized and offered to refund my money for the cake portion so I could use another bakery since I was so unsatisfied. It was fairly close to the wedding (I waited about a month before complaining because I didn't want to rock the boat but it kept bothering me) and I had a ton of other life things on my plate, plus the thought of ever stepping into another cakery again seemed less appealing than removing my own appendix with a rusty spoon, we stuck with it. I appreciated her offering that though, and would recommend asking for the money back to use another cakery to anyone who does their wedding through The Christmas House Inn--which is something I highly recommend because our wedding was incredible. read more

Our experience with the cakery started out great. We were late for our tasting appointment and they didn't rush us at all, which was great. Though the consultant that we met with, one of the sisters, took a lot of notes that obviously only she understood. That was pretty much the last good experience with their team that we had unfortunately. About 2 months before our wedding, I wanted to soften the colors on our cake and, in our opinion, they seemed pretty annoyed at that. They were also really rude to my fiance and did not hold back on letting us know how irritated they were that we made changes to our cake. I would think that most couples go through the same mind changes that we do and you would also think they'd be used to dealing with those situations. To note, the fondant on the cake was extremely thick and not the thin, moist fondant that we had tasted in the bakery when we went for our tasting. May want to choose frosting instead. In the end our cake was pretty but not exactly what we wanted, though it apparently tasted good. However, we could not use our cake topper because they had put flowers on top of our cake. We told them, many times, that we had a cake topper. Best advice, if you go with this cakery, have an exact design in mind, choose your flavors wisely, and call them a few days before the wedding to make sure that they're making room for your topper (if you have one). read more

I will start off by saying that we remember the cake tasting very good and never heard one bad comment about the quality. With that said, this review is about our follow up experience when trying to order a small anniversary cake, which we were offered when we ordered our wedding cake. I was disappointed to learn that they changed their policy since I was married and now are not making the small anniversary cakes for anything other than the one year mark. The very nice owner said that they had since changed their policy and now only make the 25 serving cakes which cost over 100. Doesn't seem right that they can change their policy before we had an opportunity to have the top layer re-done. Had we known I would have happily had the top layer re-done years ago... Other than this follow up issue, I thought they did an outstanding job during our initial experience and would suggest them to anyone. read more

I wish I could say good things, but I've only ever attempted to order cakes from this place twice and both attempts were unsuccessful. Apparently you need to order cakes within a week of your event, which is totally understandable. However, when you call and no one picks up the pand message them through Facebook and Instagram and no one responds, how are you ever supposed to order cakes at all. I guess they have too much business or something. So I'll take my business to somewhere else where it might be more appreciated. UPDATE: I have a lot of kids so I called them for another kid's birthday and I actually did get in touch with a human being. Even though I don't know why they could never message me via social media when they frequently post. Anyways, they do not charge by the size. Apparently I can't just order an 8 inch round or a quarter sheet like most bakeries. They charger $4.00 per person and will not do any cakes for less than 25 people. So basically, they don't do any cake for less than $100 and honestly if that's their brand and that's what they charge that's fine. I'm definitely not going to pay that for a kid party, especially because I do have a lot of kids. So I'm not their client, but why waste my time and theirs? Why isn't that information just published on their website. They include flavors and every piece of information but I believe they purposely leave this information out and it just comes off as a little dishonest. I'm currently cake tasting for my upcoming wedding, so I can only report on my experience with that. The cake here is very good. The citrus cake and amaretto were particular favorites of mine. You can tell that everything is made from scratch and with good quality ingredients. When we went in for the tasting it was just a small table and we could watch the cakes being made and decorated in the shop. The woman who helped us was extremely engaging, interested, and helpful. They had a portfolio of very lovely cakes with dozens of styles and flavors from which you could choose. The prices are a little high, but they're a small independent bakery with high quality products. I have a few more tasting and then will be making a selection. If we pick them and get a cake I'll post a review of that too. If you are looking around for a cake, I'd definately recommend stopping by here for a tasting/consultation! read more

I am SO lucky I found this place!! They went above and beyond with all the details for our ugly sweater Christmas party. All the guests were so in love with the details and designs on the cupcake and cookies that they were almost sad to eat such a gorgeous sight! Lol. I sent a request to get information on pricing and to see if this bakery would be able to make the cake I want for my baby shower. The lady I spoke with advised me to send an email and a picture sample, and someone would get back to me the next day. Well it's four days later and no one has followed up. We brought in 1 picture of our idea and they added their ideas too. We ended up choosing a cake from the book and chose a different flavor for each teir(3 teir) . I am completely DISGUSTED with the entire experience here. I am getting married in just a few weeks. My fiancé and I drove down there for a "tasting" in which we were treated like complete garbage the entire time. She made us feel like a total inconvenience and like we were a waste of her time. First of all, our venue is all-inclusive.. INCLUDING THE CAKE... and the SISTER OF THE OWNER tried to upcharge us $200 on top of what we're paying for our cake. Way to try and screw some newlyweds over. I think not. I flat out told her during the tasting, if we were SUCH a hassle for her, I'd make my OWN wedding cake because I wasn't going to be treated like she was treating us... She started to retract her statements and eventually acted as if she was going to try and accommodate us the best she could. At the end of our discussion, she drew us a photo of what our vision was and said, "IF this is something we can do... does this photo look like something you'd be ok with?" I said yes, signed the bottom of a paper and ASKED HER to E-mail me a proposal the next day. We haven't heard from them since. Fast forward to a few weeks later, we found the BEST local bakery who we're excited to move forward with. My fiancé called Cucamonga Cakery and told them that we want to ensure they're not moving forward as we never signed a proposal or received ANY contact after our horrible experience. Eileen told my fiancé we "signed a legal contract". Are they serious? The lady hid the part of the paper amongst other papers and asked for a signature if we agreed to a certain ideal photo, FAILING to tell us it was a contract. This company is completely unprofessional and SHADY. I am a business manager and work in real estate for a living, and never in my life have I not only been treated so rudely by someone we were anticipating entrusting our WEDDING DAY with, but who totally faked us into signing a binding contract. Do not walk.. RUN from this place. Not to mention, the cake samples we were given at our tasting didn't even contain what we'd originally asked for and the cake tasted like 2 day old store bought cake. Dried out and we struggled to swallow the stuff. I have NO idea how this location and business has a 4 star rating, but I'm making sure to spread the word for everyone I know and anyone getting married to not even think twice. You should be ashamed for running such an unprofessional business. So help me, if they even THINK of mailing me an invoice, I'll slap them with a lawsuit they do NOT want to deal with. read more

My cake was GOOOOOD!!! It arrived on time and the ladies of Cucamonga Cakery were a pleasure to work with. Our tasting was nice and relaxed and I was a bit indecisive, but I never felt rushed during the process. They were the preferred bakery of my vendor so I didn't have to do much else after we made all of our decisions at the tasting. My guests loved it and so did my husband and I. We had 3 different flavors. Snickerdoodle, Marble and Lemon. I had them do cupcakes for my husband and grandson bday which them theme was "UP" so each cupcake looked like a wilderness explore badge...omg they knocked the design out of the park.
