It's OK. The front steps with sharp, cracked granite are dangerous so first impressions weren't good. The inside is nice enough but it smells weird, sort of stale or mildewy. Ordered some very basic chicken dishes, Florentine and Parmesan. Both were standard but ok. Pasta was very over cooked. Mushrooms seemed canned. Decent Warm bread served with cold butter, salad or soup comes with dinner. We chose salad which was very generic but fresh. Service was adequate. Atmosphere is nice, a little tired and a little tacky but ok. Everything was just OK. If you want a mint after dinner you have to buy it from a quarter machine near the door. As much as I wanted to give this local hometown a good review....I am sorry to say it was honestly tasteless and unfortunately awefull italian food. The meatball appetizer was the best part about our dinner. My chicken serrento was tasteless, roasted peppers tasted like they came from a jar. Unfortunately not good. Veal Parm was mushy. Wasn't good wasn't bad....bla. House salad had iceberg lettuce, sliver of a carrot and about two cut up grape tomatoes. What does it honestly take to add a few more ingredients. It was my bestfriend birthday and I decided to take her to a random restaurant. Cucina Carini came up and had great reviews and being a foodie I had to see for my self. It's a mom and pop restaurant decor was beautiful. Our sever was the nicest and sweetest person we ever met. I can tell she is a hard worker and deserved every bit of more than a 20 percent tip. The food was amazing. First time I ate Clam casino and it was so flavorful. I will definitely be going there again. What a disappointment! Terrible service and IGNORANT STAFF. I made a reservation although understood I had to wait, until 2 people came in 15 mins. after me and were seated immediately!! I asked why they were seated before my son & I without a reservation? I have been waiting... I was rudley spoken to, no apology, consideration or acknowledgement. It was brushed off and we were sent to a 'make shift' table in between 2 rooms! Then rushed through dinner. We have been a regular customer since they opened! The food is fantastic, portions are just about right. We haven't had one item we didn't like. Eating here almost every Saturday evening, Cucina Carini is just like home (better - we don't have to clean-up!) The staff is friendly and the owners go out of their way to satisfy. Extremely overpriced! I order the special and the owner specifically told the waitresses and waiters not to tell the guests the price. I ordered a strip steak with fries and bland steamed vegetables and when I got the check is was $40.00!! The most expensive item in for menu is seafood at about $27.00. Had an luncheon there for my wife and 10 of her closest friends. The owner was good to deal with, he's very busy so it's best to be prepared with general menu ideas. The room they provided is cozy and set an intimate atmosphere for a private party. The menu options of flounder, eggplant parmigiana and chicken Marsala was served in perfect portion and was outstanding and Paula was attentive to all the guests. I've not been here in so long and yet I can still confidently say it's my favorite Italian place in the U.S. The service is fast, the place feels super local, and most importantly the food reminds me of the top quality restaurants I went to in Italy. They have all the common staples of Italian cuisine in America, and have done them all to perfection. Menu has a lot of options...it's a bit heavy on the mushrooms in many dishes for me. Dined with someone who loved their chicken parm...great texture and sauce. My seafood dish was good but a little bland. Seems like they have one waitress work the whole room, so the service isn't quick, but if you're not in a rush that's OK. My husband RAVED about this place, going on multiple occasions for lunch, so we went for dinner one night. We we're not impressed. It took forever for service and for the food to come and after all the waiting, the food wasn't even that great. He had ordered something he had ordered prior for lunch and said the quality was not the same. It wasn't even that busy, but I guess there is just different cooks and servers working during the day. Everything on the menu is great (Marc is a wonderful chef and will accommodate special dietary needs)! It's BYOB so pick up a bottle of your favorite chianti, gather your appetite and head over to Cucina Carini for a feast! Our family loves this place! My wife's family has been going there for years. Now, so have we. I had a surprise birthday party that they catered for me a few years ago and the food was phenomenal. I'm hooked on the penne alla vodka, which I challenge you to find a better one around the area. I rarely stray from it, but my wife always strays into the domain of the specials which never disappoint. The owner is a great guy and Michael the head waiter adds great character to the place. Last week, we held a luncheon at Cucini Carina after a memorial service. Coming from out of town, I was so incredibly nervous about everything being nice! I'm thrilled to say that I had absolutely nothing to worry about. Glen and his team are pros and made sure that everything was absolutely perfect. We loved the location, an extremely attractive older building (as opposed to being in a strip mall like many other restaurants in the area). The interior is tastefully decorated, and the private room was lovely. Glen offered bruschetta on the tables for our guests to nibble on when they arrived. Our entrees were chicken picatta, pasta with vodka sauce, and salmon. We also had Caesar salad. I believe the rolls were homemade. Food, service, and atmosphere were all absolutely perfect. My sister and I were free to relax and talk to our guests. Everyone remarked about the delicious food and lovely setting. An additional plus is that the price was very competitive with other nearby restaurants. We are very pleased that we selected Cucina Carini and highly recommend! read more

I didn't actually make it into the restaurant to dine. I went there last week to talk about arranging a small group for a birthday. I was directed to a gentleman who didn't ask the date, time or size of party. He dismissed us by simply saying "not on a saturday" . Now I know they accommodate showers and birthdays of larger sizes than mine so I'm curious why we were not even talked to. He said they would only do up to 10 and we had 12 plus a baby so.... Don't even bother to talk to anyone here because they actually wouldn't talk to us. We wanted a very early dinner and I think it could have easily been accommodated. What a fantastic restaurant, with outstanding food, service, and attention to detail ... my husband and I have ordered several times from this establishment, but tonight was a bit different -- Door Dash never showed up for our order!! Thanks to Anthony's proactive thinking, my meal was not ruined ... he thought enough to call us to tell us about the Door Dash issue (they never assigned a Dasher), and then offered to have his delivery driver bring our order to us!! What a great save, Anthony, and we can't thank you enough ... just not sure another restaurant would have cared enough to go out of their way to deliver a hot meal to their customer ... needless to say, we reached out to Door Dash to share our disappointment with them. AND, more good news ... Cucina Carini has their own regular delivery service available! So, of course we will certainly use their delivery service next time we order ... This restaurant did all they could to save the evening & our meals ... which are very good portions and a great value! Glad I am not the only person using the word "rude" in my review. We were there earlier this week. Nice enough looking place, menu seemed nice too. That was the extent of the "nice". I ordered Tortellini Bolognese which I have had in dozens of restaurants and the dish I personally gauge a restaurants "likeability" factor. Tortellini Bolognese is supposed to be a meat sauce with a tomato base. Cucina Carini's own menu calls it is a "rustic tomato meat sauce". Well, there literally was NO meat in the dish. I do not believe the word "rustic" means meatless in Italian, I could be wrong, I guess. I waited for a while for the waitress to come to check on us so I had already eaten about a third of the dish ( she took 10 minutes to return and NO they were not crowded as it was a Tuesday night) I explained that there was no meat in the dish. She sent the manager over, again I explained - no meat. The manager came back three times to actually look in my plate (like I was hiding the ground meat?). Literally 15 minutes after I was served they were still trying to find the cook (did he leave the country out of embarrassment for the meatless sauce he just cooked?); once he was located they offered to cook some meat and dump it on my now half eaten cold pasta. No thank you, my dinner and the evening meal was already ruined for me. There was never an apology or any attempt at offering any accommodation. The manager was dismissive, curt and rude. Hey, they messed up, not me. I was there to test out the food for a large party I was having later in the month. I won't go back, clearly there will be no party there and the rest of my office and friends now have the benefit of my experience to guide them in their selection as to where they should or should not dine. We had an amazing dinner. Food was excellent. It's a small restaurant but definitely worth a visit. I gave 4 stars because of service. Waitress never asked if we wanted a drink other than the water that we already had on table until we asked. Never asked us if we wanted bread until we asked. Little things like that drive me nuts because I feel like were being annoying asking.They dont serve alchohol but you can bring your own wine. Place is tiny so if you have a bigger group I would call ahead of time. read more

We visited Cucina Carini 3 times in the last 4 days. First night Saturday Sept. 29th we were greeted by Stephanie. She sat us down in a quaint corner where my wife and I soaked in the ambiance along with mussels in white sauce that were really out of this world. Followed by the stuffed long hots. This was a special graduation for me so we wanted to celebrate here as we heard so much about it. I knew right away this was going to be our go to place as we just moved about a mile away. I love that it's a BYOB. So the wine we brought with us paired with the grilled salmon I had with the roasted potatoes and vegetable mix was out of this world. My wife had the tilapia special. Excellent. We then returned on Sunday night Sept. 30th with my father in law from South Philly who couldn't believe how much we raved about Cucina Carini, he said I have to try this place. I'm from South Philly...blah blah, well he LOVED it. He had the grilled salmon and is still talking about it. We then had a late night at work, October 2nd, so we decided to give their pizza a try. We got the white pizza which we had white pizza from a few local establishments and this was WAY better than the pizza shops. We love this place now and what was so great is when I went in to pick up the pizza I told the gentleman behind the counter this was the third time here in four days. He turned out to be Glen the owner! He was thrilled. I told him the exceptional service from Stephanie on Saturday and Mary on Sunday! He welcomed us as new friends first customers second! What a great guy! He said to bring my wife and father in law and my mom back and introduce them to him and his wife.
