It used to be a diner. Now it's a brand new, beautiful restaurant. The hostess was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was quite busy. Our waiter was adequate. But he was slow to take our orders and the food came out very slowly. The table next to us came around the same time as us. They were done eating and paid while we were still waiting for our dinner. My tagliatelle pescatore was delicious and the seafood was fresh but the fra diavolo sauce wasn't spicy. My husband ordered a vegetable lasagna and he enjoyed it but said it wasn't anything special. My friend said the skirt stake was tender but he didn't care much about the sauce. read more

We love Cugini's. The owners are usually there, which gives the place a welcoming neighborhood vibe. The food is delicious, the service is attentive, and sitting at the bar during the week has become one of our favorite rituals. First time trying this new Italian restaurant. We went for lunch on a quiet Monday. The atmosphere is beautiful. They completely gutted and redesigned the restaurant. The food was very good - chicken parmesan. But the waitress forgot our appetizer. So when the entrees arrived, I canceled it. She was very apologetic and we got free coffee for the mistake. The servings are very small and include no salad. She offered us bread, but it seemed like an afterthought. It arrived well after the entrees. The prices were extremely high, especially considering the small portions. I think this is the first time in my life that I ordered chicken parm and ate it all - no leftovers. We had a delicious dessert - lemon raspberry drop and the coffees that we got for free. The bill gave me sticker shock. There are plenty of Italian restaurants where we can get a huge, delicious chicken parm meal that includes a salad, have leftovers and pay far less. And one more thing - the prices on the restaurant menu are higher than the one published on their website. Pretty place though. read more

Lovely atmosphere! We really enjoyed the full 360 of this building from the decades old diner, into a nice, modern updated space. The bar was large and spacious. The dining room is tastefully decorated with clean and modern touches. Menu was expansive, and ranged from average priced to higher end. It was easy to find something for everyone's taste on it. We had a party of four, and our salad courses were fresh and ample. Our entrees were large portions, fresh and well presented. Wine/beer menu was large and varied. We live local and decided to try since the new ownership. The menu is impressive and pricey. The food not so much. The clams we ordered were bad. We told the owner and while she was empathetic? She also did not remove them from the bill. $18 for four clams? This left a bad taste in our mouth (literally) as lunch cost us over $130? Cant imagine what dinner would have run us. Our waitress Christina was lovely. we asked for our pizza well done. Then had to send it back as it was not well done. Some cheese hadn't even melted? The Cesare salad dressing was delicious. Being right next to Giuseppe's that has better food and cheaper prices? Theyre going to have to try harder. Too bad as it's a great location with lots of parking. We really want to like this place. The service is great. The food is not so great--yet. The seafood bruschetta is fabulous. And the mussels are terrific. The eggplant parm was swimming in marinara which was not great. And, weirdly, all the pasta is overcooked! I k ow it's tough to cook fresh pasta well but it's supposedly a speciality! It's new so let's give them a bit of a break and give them some time. This place is "ok" just like most Italian American places. But it's positioned and priced like I'm in a NYC big Italian joint. However the cuisine and setting just doesn't match It. Don't get me wrong nothing was bad. But my $16 wedge salad was more like something from a wedding than a solid wedge like I'd get at a steakhouse for that price. My $55 veal chop milenase was nicely breaded but clearly deep fried in oil that basket needed to be changed. Salad on top was a bit sad - no fresh shaved parm on a 55 dollar Milanese style chop??? Arugula salad (no red onion and maybe 3-4 cherry tomatoes halves) was way over vinegared. And not a good vinegar - tasted like the cheap white Heize stuff. So nothing bad here and bar staff was super awesome. But if you want to open an upper end restaurant experience with the prices to match you need to bring the goods. This place does not. read more

We finally got here! We shared the clam appetizer which was really good. I had the veal chop parmigiana which was butterflied and huge! I was glad that the sauce was really good and the homemade pasta was equally good. The veal was cooked just right and was tender. Cindy had the cheese ravioli and she said it was simply excellent! We took my dad and his wife to Cugini's for Father's Day dinner on Saturday night, and once again, it did not disappoint! This was our third visit, and every experience has been excellent. From the food and drinks to dessert and service (thank you, Heather! ), everything was outstanding. Our first visit was on a Tuesday evening when our daughter came home from college. We purposely waited a little while after opening before trying Cugini's because we know every new restaurant needs time to find its rhythm. We had seen reviews that were all over the map, but we wanted to experience it for ourselves--and we're glad we did. The service was wonderful, the menu recommendations were spot-on, and the entire experience was terrific. Our second visit was on a busy Friday night. The restaurant filled up quickly, and the kitchen got hit with a wave of orders all at once. Our server, Zorian, handled it like a pro. He kept us informed, checked in frequently, and made sure we knew what was happening. We truly appreciated the communication, and the food was absolutely worth the wait. A few menu highlights: * The crab cakes are a definite winner--my husband, dad, and his wife all loved them. * The Sicilian Street Food appetizer is fantastic for sharing (we've ordered it twice!). * The Chicken Francaise was delicious. * Honestly, we haven't had a bad dish yet. We chose Cugini's for beautiful atmosphere, authentic italian menu and great service to celebrate a 95th Birthday with a luncheon for 35. They were so accommodating to all of our requests. The food was delicious authentic Italian sauce and homemade pasta. I cannot rave enough about the seafood bruschetta, chef's kiss! All of the staff, from the owners to the bartender and servers were so kind and friendly. Everything went so smooth especially when serving 35 people at once. Went there for my daughter's birthday looking for something special. Have to say I was very disappointed. The ambiance is still diner vibe though they must have spent a lot in renovation as evidenced by the prices of the food. The wait staff and especially the waitress was the only positive thing I can say about the place. We ordered appetizers one being the Bruschetta Trio which came out as a flat bread with only the tomatoes and not the other 2 in the trio. Had to send it back and the kitchens response was they hadn't taken it off the menu yet so just gave us the Bruschetta. My daughter who is vegetarian had ordered it for the caponata and the tamponade so she was disappointed. I found the tomatoes had way too much onion, very little basil and no garlic was tasted. My soninlaw had the personal pizza and said he was happy with it. My husband and I got pasta dishes and the fresh pasta came out mushy and overcooked. The pesto sauce which was described as with pine nuts came out with no pine nuts. The waitress took it back but she said the managers response was it was ground up in the recipe. The pesto was bland with very little basil and no taste of garlic. The seafood frau diablo was not very spicy with small mussles and sauce was not very flavorful. If you are going to charge these prices at least make the food worth it. We were really looking forward to a nice birthday meal for my daughter. read more

First off, I just want to say this one of our favorite places! The food is excellent and of the highest quality. Most of it is either handmade or sourced from Italy. I am gluten free and they accommodate every request and then some! Including dessert!! Anthony and Frank are so personable and make you feel right at home. My husband is Italian and pretty picky about his Italian eats and all I ever hear is this is outstanding. And did I mention plenty of parking?! I was really hoping this restaurant was going to be so much better than it was . Let's start off with appetizers . We as a table stated to the Sicilian assortment which contained a very anemic arancini ball with "gloppy" filling , a very ok panelle and a potato croquet that was fine . Unfortunately the overall taste of the frying oil saturated each one of these specialties and made them all taste the same . We had the skirt steak special and found it cooked way too much after requesting a med rare and covered in a sauce that should have been served on the side vs covering the meat . The cauliflower rigatoni was lacking in cauliflower and in a heavy handed lemon caper sauce that overtook the tastebuds and the rigatoni was way overcooked . Lastly we ordered the steak special which was asked to be "Pittsburgh " rare with sauces on the side . The plate was brought out covered in a mushroom sauce and was cooked medium well . What is most disappointing is that we had a fantastic waitress who took the time to make sure our orders were sent to the kitchen correctly with the temps and special request but the kitchen chose to ignore all of them and send out what they wanted . What a disappointment for us as the diner and what a challenging job our waitress has dealing with such an arrogant kitchen . The steak completely cooked wrong was taken off the bill ( thank you ) however we wish that we could have all eaten together as we planned and had a nice dinner . I think two stars was really for our waitress as the food was not great and the ambience felt like someone had a shopping spree on Wayfair. read more

I have been to Cugini's twice before and had fine, three-to-four-star experiences. But tonight was not good. We had a reservation for four on a Wednesday night. Upon arriving, I discreetly mentioned to the host that it was my Dad's birthday. She simply replied saying I should tell my waiter. As someone who had worked as a host before I thought this was odd as normally the host would communicate this to the server, but regardless I was not able to tell this to the waiter without my father seeing. Service was very slow. Drinks were good but took a while to come out. Appetizers left much to be desired, specifically the Sicilian Street Food. No one cleared our empty plates from the appetizers, and the tables were quite small, so when the food runners arrived with the main courses, they had nowhere to put them. No one offered to remove these dirty plates until we asked. My main course-- the salmon-- was charred and served alongside an overpowering sauce and a flavorless, dry risotto. My father's pasta dish left much to be desired as well, though my sister enjoyed her vodka sauce pasta (which I have ordered before and enjoyed as well). Our server, though I forget his name (a Hispanic man), was great. I could see he had the busiest section and was doing his best. He upsold the food and was attentive. At the very end of the meal, as we were getting up to leave, I guess the host finally told him it was my Dad's birthday. He gave us an extra dessert on the house. The main wait staff here, both my server tonight and the white-haired woman who has served my twice before, were excellent. It is the food and auxiliary staff that leave much to be desired. And I remember what the restaurant looked like before as the diner, and they have done an awesome job transforming the place. The ambiance is great. I've been to Cugini's three times now, hoping that it would get better. If anything it's gotten worse. My first time there, they forgot my order (how does that happen?). Didn't they notice that only 3 of the 4 people at the table had any food? Nope. They rushed and gave me a salad that was way past its prime, soggy and mushy. The second time I made sure that they got my order and the gnocchi was horrible. They replaced it with (wait for it) a soggy greek salad. Couldn't eat it. The third time I got pizza but it the crust was so thin and soggy it wasn't worth eating. The thing is, I'm not a picky eater and rarely send anything back but this place is horrible. Service is bad, food is bad, ambience is bad. You can't hear yourself think in there. This is a glorified diner trying to be something it's not. New Hope doesn't need this tacky restaurant. read more

Our uncomplicated drink order consisting of a wine, a gin martini and a beer did not arrive at our table for 50 minutes. We were at Cugini's for Mother's Day -- no Mother's in our group, but nevertheless. I will give a pass for the slow service since it's one of the busiest restaurant days of the year. But everyone was trying. The food was o.k., not great. Certainly not authentically prepared Italian cuisine. We wanted it to be great -- and it was not. We are so happy that the old New Hope Diner was transformed into this lovely restaurant, but not sure it will survive with the just o.k. food. Let's see. read more

cugini is our favorite new restaurant and have been there at least 6 times in the last 2 months. the food is great so we invited friends to join us, as always the food was great. However our experience quickly went downhill when we were ask to leave after less than an hour and a half to accommodate other customers. our time with friends was cut short and we were greatly embarrassed after talking up the place. This experience felt very bad and it's hard to believe that our continued business held no value to the restaurant and we were treated so poorly. We were left speechless. read more

Not the place to go if they're crowded. First time there and dinner started with problems with the drink order. One of our party of three never received their entree after several apologies by our waitress- and it was only a pizza! Manager came over to apologize but no courtesy extended when the check came. On top of that- food we did get was "meh " at best. Tough night for the kitchen - poor response from management. Might be better on a slower day but I'm not returning to find out. read more

Cugini's did not disappoint as the premier Italian option in town. Excellent creative appetizers, fresh homemade pasta, many options for different price points and appetites, and a flexible menu (translated as, add shrimp to anything you wish). The chefs are very accommodating and will craft a custom dish to order. We had a custom ziti dish, the gnocchi, chicken Marsala, pink vodka sauce and perfectly cooked salmon, all excellent. Our server Justin was not very polite to start, but this obviously did not affect the quality of the food, and we would recommend trying a meal there. read more

We had an odd first experience at Cugini's. Walking in, we were impressed with the renovation and ambiance of the restaurant. The server was very nice and attentive during the entire visit. We first ordered two vodka martinis, with different brands of vodka to start. When the cocktails arrived, one was clearly gin ... making us wonder whether the second used the vodka we asked for. The server fixed the mistake quickly. Next, we ordered a Tagliatelle Pescatore and the Halibut special. The Tagliatelle was delicious. However, we noticed right away that the Halibut looked more like the Mahi special. When asked, the server confirmed the second mistake. Since it took some time to prepare the correct dish, we ended up eating separately. (Not the experience we hoped for.) However, the Halibut was also delicious. If the orders had been delivered correctly, we would have had a four or five star experience. We might try again ... still trying to decide. read more

Let's start with the location. Easy access off route 202, (Lower York Road). Plenty of parking, Handicapped access for my my parents a plus. Atmosphere was cozy with a great vibe. Hostess was very amenable allowed us to sit at our table before all parties arrived. On a side note, The bar would have been a great place to wait as it is strategically located and a beautiful touch to a beautiful restaurant. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive to our needs. He allowed us the pleasure of conversing with our guests prior to ordering our entrees. We did get a few delicious appetizers Calamari and Bruschetta , The chopped Salad and Caesar were excellent salads enough for a meal, The dinners were served simultaneously and everyone at our table complemented how good the food was prepared. Oh and my Dad had the French onion soup and loved it. The drinks were great as well. This was our second time at this location and will not be our last. This was a short Ride from Harleysville PA and we will be stopping by for the Pizza next time, which looked so good coming out of the kitchen. Formerly. The Star Diner in New Hope/ Solebury, now offering an Italian menu. We stopped in to sample this new restaurant restaurant addition to the Lambertville- New Hope area. We were seating at a comfortable table near the window. Our server was pleasant and attentive. We started with the calamari. It was lightly breaded rings of something deep fried. The rings were rubbery and chewy- not recommended. For our mains we each tried a chicken dish- Marsala and Parmesan each dish came with pasta. The Pasta was el denté with just the right amount of firmness ( thus is subjective but it is the way I like it). Our chicken consisted of two nice breasts that were tender, the dishes were not noticeably salting which allowed the flavor of the gravy to shine. On the Marsala there were plenty of tender mushrooms. Both meals were tasty- recommend. One negative. The mains did not include a salad; and bread was not served or offered ( disappointing for an Italian restaurant). read more
