We pass by this restaurant frequently and finally had a chance to try it out. The food was delicious but the experience was a little confusing. When you walk in there is sort of a vestibule before the dining room, but it felt as if we had actually come in by the wrong door -- I'm still not sure. Either the front door is well hidden or the entrance is not very welcoming, and there was no one there to greet us. Once seated, however, the atmosphere was charming. We had some light trouble communicating with the staff. It wasn't at all clear who the three different people who visited our table were. The youngest one, in particular, spoke so fast and low that it was difficult to follow him, and even though the room was relatively quiet. The food made up for some of our difficulties. The cioppino, in particular, was excellent, even if it didn't contain exactly the items listed in the menu; it's the nature of the dish. Once we had our meals, everything was quite agreeable. The food was great; the rest of the experience kind of 'mid.' It seemed that if we were regulars, already acquainted with the idiosyncrasies of the place, we would have been more comfortable, but as first-timers it was all a bit discomfiting. I suppose would go back again, but it hasn't won it's way into a spot among my favorites. read more

Three of us came here mid week for dinner. We split the calamari and peach and goat cheese salad. No one wanted to split the broccoli cheddar bisque with me so she agreed to give me a half portion. This turned out to be the perfect amount. It was tasty. The smell of the garlic toast was intoxicating. Atmosphere was tranquil and peaceful. Night he salad and calamari weee good. The calamari came in a thin red sauce and was super tender. The peaches in the salad took advantage of the season. My friend and I split the bobs special and barramundi. I ate the barramundi which was fresh and delicious. The sides of mashed potatoes and spinach were equally good. My friend loved his eggplant parm. I thought the bobs special was good but I was full by then. It seemed to tasted way better the next day!! Loved it! Of course we had to get the coconut cream cake. It did not disappoint! Francisco's is located across the street from the Delaware in a peaceful spot between New Hope and Newtown/Yardley, PA. It is away from the fast paced hubs of the other towns. If family style with country charm in a warm/cozy environment for Italian food is what you are looking for, then try Francisco's. We met friends there and had a nice table in the back. Service was very good and the meals were equally very good. I opted for the Bob's plate special, which I recommend, I was not disappointed. BYOB is something we always look for and at Francisco's, bring your own works. A bit of a ride out to get there and a bit loud overall but in the end - worth it. read more

April 29, 2023 - on a cool rainy night we ventured out with life long friends for a nice dinner on the Delaware. Seated at a lovely table with a view of the Delaware. The place is a mix of quant colonial Washington Crossing home and a 2020 COVID expansion tent. The zone table coverage was tactical and efficient by the bus staff. Our service by "Jenny" --- who our table of four 'boomers' kept singing (quietly so as to not disturb our fellow diners) 8-6-7-5-3-oh nye eeh hy eeeh ine (just skip ahead if this make zero sense to you) was exceptional and truly made the dining experience wonderful. We BYOB'd some nice wine and I had water with lemon. And while not thinking there would be there was no corking charge (smile). The kitchen looked from he distance to be clean and obviously efficient as the packed house (and companion tent) was full and turning over with many smiling faces as we very leisurely dined. A warm and welcoming place for sure!! We split a few arugula salads (after seeing a neighboring table seeming do the same as portions here are ample). Greens were fresh and colorful. - 8/10 My wife got a Vegetable Soup that she reported was excellent and must have been so good I was not offered even a taste?? - 8/10 Our friends who had been here before had gotten the Bob's Plate before and she ordered that again. She reported as again fantastic. - 9/10 Her spouse ordered the Bouillabaisse with fettuccine that he also had had before and it was as expected a home run!!! Both left with over half the portion in a take out box. - 9/10 My wife got the Fish Francoise (fluke) with crab and sauté greens and came with smashed potatoes. She was not aware of the potatoes (which she is supposed to avoid) and asked for something else and promptly received roasted vegetables. Very enjoyable and my wife said the fish and crab were fresh and wonderfully cooked, moist, and flavorful. 9/10 I was all ready to order the simple spinach ravioli as the only visible vegetarian or vegan item which I expected since it did not so state there was cheese in the ravioli or on it. However it did have cheese so I did a little sad face and whining and Jenny quickly rattled off a rolodex of items and options and we quickly configured a roasted varied vegetable medley with my choice of pasta. I chose bowtie. As well an arrabiata spicy red sauce (meatless) that was maybe too spicy for some, but I loved it. The pasta was el dente and cooked nicely. The dish arrived fresh and hot as well. Perfect - 10/10 One negative (not considered in the ratings and of course easily fixed) is my utensils had to be replaced and were not acceptable. Just would like the manager/GM/owner to keep an eye out or have the bus staff pay a bit more attention. Like most yelpers who have reviewed this Francisco's, I too have driven by many times and told myself to stop in one day. The view of the river is very peaceful, so why not eat while you enjoy a beautiful fall afternoon? I treated my mother here for a dinner and we enjoyed being seated at an indoor table overlooking the river view. The staff of two had their hands full, but the restaurant wasn't overly crowded. Remember it is a BYOB, so plan accordingly! I thought the menu had a great mix of salad, pasta and seafood. With many great choices, it was tough to decide on just one, but thankfully our server Kelly helped me through it! The pork chop special was so tempting, but in the end I went with the Linguine al Frutti di Mare Fradiavolo - shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels & fresh fish sautéed in olive oil, garlic & crushed red peppers, finished with white wine & a splash of our red sauce at $38. My mother went with a similar dish, but without spice which was the Pasta alla Cioppino - sautéed shrimp, salmon, tilapia, mussels & clams with diced tomatoes in a saffron white wine sauce served over fettuccine at $35. The dishes came out pretty fast and we were happy with our choices. The serving size was not bad and we left stuffed. For my plate, the only cons were I received one large scallop and it was very salty. The dish could have used a bit more red sauce. On the good side, I thought the heat was just right and although a spicy kick reminded you it was there with every bite, it didn't take away from the flavor of the seafood. The seafood was also fresh. I think the price was a bit high for the plate, but considering the area and ambiance I'll let it pass. Judging by the diners coming in after us, they seem to have quite a few regulars, which is always nice to hear. I would recommend going to Francisco's on a date night. Of course spending time to say thanks to your mother is always a good idea too :) read more

Arrived around 7pm on a Saturday. Parking was easy and the lot was huge. The place was quite crowded but we were promptly brought to our table for four on the inside section. There are also tables on a patio which is enclosed, and another room with tables. It is a byob. Our server came by opened some wine and left us alone for a bit. A second server came by about 5 minutes later and went through the same speech. We have eaten here before and the food is generally very good. I ordered a swordfish which was prepared baked with a delicious panko breading. The fish was moist and tasty. There were sides of spinach and mashed potatoes. I really enjoyed it. Others got pasta dishes and a pork chop. All enjoyed their dishes. I also shared a Caesar with my wife and a side of anchovies. It was good. Finished with an espresso but did not get dessert. Service was lumpy. We were approached by 5 different servers throughout our meal a few had no idea who ordered which dish. Our whole wheat garlic bread was brought to the wrong table. The bread is very good by the way. The whole service model seemed a bit off. We had to search for someone to get our bill. We say Food"a", service "d", ambiance "b", value "b". We would return. I usually enjoy dining out, but my experience last Saturday was deeply disappointing. We had a reservation, yet instead of a warm welcome, we were immediately reminded that we were 10 minutes late and told we had only 80 minutes to finish our meal. It took 15 minutes before our server even approached us to take our order, and another 10 minutes for the appetizers to arrive. We were in the middle of our second course--I'd barely taken my third bite of a bland, overly fishy dish--when we were abruptly informed that our time was up. When my friend politely asked for the dessert menu, the server curtly responded that we could only order dessert to-go. This is a lovely BYOB along the Delaware River about 5 miles from downtown New Hope. There's a parking lot on the property. We had reservations, and I think they'd be necessary because it seems to be a very popular place. The food was delicious! Our server Jenny recommended the lasagna which 2 of us had and loved. We went there for the first time on Friday, and were so happy we did. First, it's in a great setting, just across from the Delaware River, and has ample parking, which is so much better than trying to park in New Hope. It's cozy inside and the staff is very welcoming. Our server, Kevin was really great! Dishes we loved...beet and goat cheese salad, a super eggplant parmesan in a light tomato sauce and not overloaded with cheese. Our friend's lasagna looked yummy as well. My husband had corvina and he loved it; that's not easy to find on a menu. We had the flourless chocolate tart for dessert - decadent! We had an absolutely wonderful time during our first visit. It was our 35th anniversary get-away, staying at a nearby B&B, and we left happy and full. Our server, Colleen, was amazing and made our visit fulfilling and entertaining! What a gem! The restaurant is located just off the river- with a view from the prime porch tables. The setting is charming, rustic and relaxing. The BYO aspect is also appealing - don't forget to tip on the value of your wines - and really keeps costs down. Meals - esp. the "signature" dishes - are on the family style volume side, easily shareable. We took a different path with our appetizers and our entrees. Me - Pork chop with mushroom & Gorgonzola, mashed and veggies. Superb! My wife - Squid ink ravioli with a pink lobster cream sauce. Delicious! Colleen surprised us with a slice of cake & a candle! A very charming Italian / continental restaurant with a view. Ambience is countryside charming, even romantic, with a flowering garden outside and a beautiful view of the river across the road in lovely Bucks County. If you're driving through the area, or live in PA or NJ, it's worth a visit. The food and service are amazing. We came on a quiet Sunday night in the summer. Ordered their lasagne which is probably one of the best I've had, if not the best (and we've had a lot of lasagne). I heard their lasagne is very popular and we noticed that people were coming by to pick up takeout lasagne up until closing. Forgot to bring our own wine, but we were having a special celebration so the waiter pulled out some wine for us. It was one of the best Cabernets we've had. Pre-prandial caveat emptor: "Lasagna" is on the menu. Please note that "lasagna" is the singular form of "lasagne." Any experienced Italian chef knows they are serving you "lasagne," unless, of course, they are serving you just one big noodle. Let's break down our personal experience... Bread: "We have complimentary house bread or garlic wheat bread off the menu, or maybe a combination of both?" Are you really trying to trick me into paying for bread? Also, che schifo... garlic wheat bread?... no grazie. Appetizer: My wife loves calamari, so let's give it a go. By the way, they are "sautéed," not fried. This is fairly clear on the menu, but I just wanted to warn you if you've only had the fried version. However, I would say they were more boiled than sautéed as there was not a hint of brown on the edges. They were swimming in a bowl of overabundant, mediocre red sauce. The dish presented only the body/tubes, no legs, which indicates they came from a prepared, "Costco-like" package rather than slicing fresh calamari. This would be a close approximation of how they were made: take a frozen package of calamari, throw them into some tomato soup with a few bits of celery and onion, microwave for 3 minutes... Wife's main: Lobster ravioli. Not bad, but might as well have come from Trader Joe's. At this price ($34.75), the pasta should be made in-house. Maybe the owner/manager can clarify whether this is the case, but I don't think so... My main: Chicken Rosamarino. The weather was extremely hot, so I'm eating light. Kind of like fancy hospital food. The rosemary was black, so it may not have been the freshest to begin with (I don't think it turned that color just because of the cooking). Anyway, I couldn't really taste it. There was more chicken on the salad that I had earlier at another restaurant for lunch. Maybe I just had too much chicken that day :) Dessert: Some sort of lemon tart thing. Not bad, but not great (we have entered the $12.95 dessert era). The bottom was sort of soft, so it must have taken on some humidity while sitting around... On a positive note: The setting is fairly picturesque and the vibe in the place is great. The servers are simpatici. People didn't seem to care too much about the food as they seemed happy to BYOW, with some tables having more than one open bottle. Atmosphere - 4 Service - 3 Food - 5 I had a groupon deal for this restaurant, and although the food was EXCELLENT I think a few things definitely brought the rating down for me. The first being that the restaurant is located quite out of the way and depending on where you're seated, you may not have a great view of the river. Secondly, I felt a little bit neglected by the servers and, additionally, they did not inform me that splitting 1 dish onto 2 plates would cost extra. While my dining partner and I received extra vegetables, I could've easily cut my portion into 2 myself without incurring the few extra dollar charge. I have been to Francisco's many times over the years. It was a while since my last visit and when I ate there over the weekend I was very disappointed. I was shocked to see how much they raised their prices. My $14 salad was much smaller than I remember and the lettuce was brown. The eggplant parm, which has always been fantastic, was tasteless and the skin left on the eggplant was tough. For $36, it should have been perfection. The wait staff notified me that the place was a BYOB, which was upsetting but not the end of the world. We ordered appetizers which were only fairly plain salads. There were no finger foods on the appetizer menu. The Caesar salad dressing tasted like pure mayonnaise. This place could create better dressings, especially if salads are the only option. Lastly, The entrées were terrific. I have no complaints. And my date has no complaints. I had a seafood pasta dish. I think it was the fruitti, cooked in a red sauce with white wine and quite frankly the best pasta dish I have ever tasted. Also, the garlic bread is to die for. My date had the pork chop which was shipped in from Japan and had the best-caramelized onions on top. The desserts were excellent also. read more

We had driven by the restaurant a number of times and always wondered what it was like, so we were looking forward to our dinner. Two of us had reservations for 5:00 last Saturday. The wait staff were all wonderful! From the young person who came first to our table to the servers - everyone was very polite, friendly, and efficient. And that's the only reason we gave it 2 stars instead of one. We were seated at the front with a view of the river. It's a shame they seated us right next to a loud family because the tables were very closely packed next to each other and there were other tables in that area available. The restroom was disgusting. It was very cold, dirty with dust and crud built up on the baseboards and floor and bang/scuff marks and both restrooms were so tiny (and I'm a small person) that you could hardly stand up without bumping your face into the wall! The food was terrible. We shared the scallops appetizer ($18) and found 3 small scallops that were completely smothered in a very heavy tomato sauce that was grossly over-salted to the point that salt was all you could taste. I wish I had sent it back! My partner ordered the gnocchi with salmon ($36.00). The gnocchi was thick and heavy, the salmon was scarce and the cream sauce was again, way over-salted. I had Branzino ($41.00) that was supposed to be served over a bed of spinach and crab risotto. What a huge disappointment this was! They gave me a small partial filet, not the fish as is usually served. There was some plain white crab meat sprinkled on top of the fillet. And with this there was some cold, hard, undercooked, crunchy white rice in a liquid sauce and some hard cold vegetables on the side. We were entirely disappointed, considering the prices we paid! I can't believe this place has been in business as long as it has. We could have eaten at our local pizza place and had much, much better food for much less cost and clean bathrooms to boot! We've eaten here many times and it is consistently good! Very cozy, and despite the rooms being fairly small, they're doing a great job with distancing. They have tasty starter salads which you can split with someone or just do half and they're still very big. Last night I had the tilapia special and I can't say enough good things about it! They have fabulous seafood, but I've also had great lasagna, eggplant parm, and a memorable pork chop! Service is always great, too. One of my favorite restaurants!! read more

Ahhh another night, where do I go? Looking for somewhere with a water view, go on my trusty yelp and find Francisco's on the Delaware River. So off we go, I pull in and park my Hyundai sante fe between a BMW and Mercedes and we are seated outside with a river view. We start off with a lovely arugala crab meat salad accompanied by some fresh garlic bread. My GF has seafood dish with salmon and scallops. The scallops were large and the salmon was big over top of fettuccini. I had a pork and beef fettuccini Bolognese. Both portions were more then enough. My dish had a lot of flavor and the thickness of sauce was perfect. The waitresses were very nice and attended to us nicely. The complete dinner was awesome and the price was $73. With my Groupon coupon it came to $53. All in all excellent place and I will return. read more

Went here for the first time and Francisco's did not disappoint! Had the bread basket to start and shared the mushroom salad as well as the crabmeat. Very light and a refreshing way to start. My girlfriend got the lasagna based on our wonderful waitress's recommendations. She said it was the best lasagna she's ever had! I had bob's special plate and the seafood was was fresh and the vodka was light and not too heavy. Pasta was al dente and a perfect spring dinner meal. Our dates had the pork chop and the butterfish. Butterfish was amazing! Crust was delish and paired well with spinach and homemade mashed potatoes. We shared chocolate cake and tiramisu. Delish finish! I just can not say enough about how helpful the waitstaff and servers were. They knew the menu inside and out and gave us excellent recommendations that did not disappoint! We were hoping for a more upscale restaurant. I cannot understand the attraction dining here. I tried a salad with crabmeat and lettuce was matted down and too many large stems. The dressing was just ok and the crabmeat was sparse. I had the special for my entree. The stuffed flounder with crabmeat. First of all, it wasn't stuffed liked they described it. I had two sides that came with it. The spinach was slightly cooked and displayed on the plate with no consideration. The other side on the plate I think was mashed potatoes. It came out like a tennis ball. I think a used tennis ball would had more flavor. It was hard, room temperature and something you would see at a cafeteria. Really ? Bucks County Restaurant Week 2018 Disappointment My understanding of a "Restaurant Week" was to taste and enjoy a local restaurant that you've probably never tried before on a price fixe menu and the restaurant going out of their way to impress so that the customer returns. Apparently Francisco's did not get the memo. Who: Francisco's on the Delaware When: Sunday, April 29, 2018 7pm resv. Where: located in Washington Crossing on the beautiful Delaware River What: Upon our arrival, the parking lot was full and I figured, "Great, they have a great following". Busy is good in my book. We (my husband and I) walk in and there is no host. Well that's because they are busy I thought. No issue there. He returns to seat us in the tinyest room packed with 6 tables and a fireplace. Ok, I thought, it's a small restaurant with several rooms. Once seated I then realize we are right in the walk way to the bathroom. So many visitors by our table not romantic as I had hoped. We are offered 3 menus; $25 prix fixe, $35 prix fixe, and the regular menu. I had researched the menu situation prior and knew what I had wanted to order as did my husband. Seeing we are seafood fans, the $25 menus had what we wanted. (Menus are in photos) Come to find out that our jean wearing host becomes our server (which he is obviously not a server). So let's discuss service. Not the best but he tried. He had trouble opening our bottle of wine with a wine key, then he up sold garlic bread but prior to the bread arriving we were given only one portion of the antipasto to share even though we each ordered off the $25 menu. The bread was given to another table we were told and that was the reason for the delay. Our dry Caesar Salads came. The plates were chilled, which is great but there was hardly any dressing that you could taste or see. Yes, we ate them but come on we were hungry after the 4 olive, two bruschetta piece, two 1/2"x1/2" pieces of cheese antipasto appetizer. (All dirty plates remained on table until I put them on the corner of the table stacked.) I'm sure all the passers by to the restroom didn't mind looking at them. Entrees are a huge disappointment. Me the Shrimp scampi, this would include 5 32-34 sized shrimp that were flavorful but there was no sauce and the linguine was dry and cooked al dente. My husband ordered the Clams in white sauce, what sauce? Again dry linguine al dente and the weird thing was that the clams were broiled and not steamed with any juice/sauce of the white wine variety. So the flavor was not up to par. Dessert: homemade tiramisu, this was a 3"x3" square piece w lady fingers inside etc. It was tasty but not worth $10! I could have made everything, not ironed clothes, not put makeup on, not do my hair, not drive 1/2 hour and not brought $25 in wine. We will not return, ever. More importantly, the food was good- but not great, and way overpriced. $14 for a simple, small arugula & radicchio salad? C'mon! Chicken Porcini ($28) was tasty but not tender & moist, and sliced carrots were hard and bland. Large plates of Lasagna and Eggplant Parm ($31 each) were nothing extraordinary, especially their red sauce that should have been their specialty. The best we had was their Crispy Skin Barramundi ($38) with brown better & capers sauce- delicious! In all, I had a nice time. I'll avoid telling people and not recommend. Stopped on this cute little restaurant right by the river. Beautiful location, mediocre food. I had a pleasant experience overall. We walked in early at 5:00ish and the staff was able to seat us outside. The menu features classic Italian dishes, nothing out of the ordinary. Tried the eggplant parmesan, Francisco's lasagna, pistachio crusted tilapia, lobster ravioli, and cheddar stout soup. The flavors were mediocre all around. Nothing particularly offensive but also nothing particularly exciting. The best bites were the creamy pink vodka sauce on the lobster ravioli. The ravioli itself though didn't taste like lobster very much--hard to pick it out. The eggplant was also interesting because of how thin and well cooked each slice was. But there wasn't much tomato sauce or parmesan so it was pretty much a big pile of eggplants. Also, for the lovely view of the River, it's quite loud to sit outside because of the traffic on the road. Another delicious meal at Francisco's. We hadn't been here in a while since moving farther away but my wife made reservations for her birthday. She had filet with fettuccine and I had the crispy skin Barramundi. Both were delicious. I tasted her steak and it melted in my mouth. And if you enjoy fish this is the restaurant for you. There are always a few special dishes and worth the price. In addition to the delicious food, the waitstaff is very personable and if that isn't enough it's a BYOB so you can bring your favorite bottle of wine to enjoy without the added cost of having to purchase drinks there. read more

I drive past Francisco's on my way home from work and it's always crowded. Now that I've finally eaten here, I know why! The food is ahhmazing! It's BYOB, which is good since the food is on the expensive side. You can opt for their Garlic Bread to start but it'll cost you $3. It's good but I'd save my money. I started with the Caesar Salad, which is easily split between two people. If you don't like anchovies, you can order without or ask for them on the side. The salad itself was good, I would order it again. But my favorite part of the meal was the entree. Oh. My. Goodnes. This might have been THE best lasagna I've ever tasted! The Lasagna is stacked high with layers and layers of cheese and a flavorful Bolognese. The portion is huge, I'll take a picture next time! I can usually clean my plate but wasn't able to with this meal! I'm glad I didn't over stuff myself, I did need to save room for dessert. Whenever I see Creme Brulee, I have to order it. Luckily I was not disappointed. The only reason I'm not giving a 5th star is the seating is awful. The tables/chairs are too close together. The table itself is low so I couldn't cross my legs without smashing my knees. And it's extremely loud. The menu is balanced and offers fine food served in a traditional manner. The service is charming and comfortable; where you can share a joke or two with your server. Had a wonderful anniversary dinner at Francisco's. Recently went to La Stalla in Newtown and this was a much better experience on all levels. Delicious food, courteous service and a very pleasant atmosphere. A far better value all around. Also BYOB. read more

Came here with party of 6. We waited over 30 min for server to take our order (by flagging her down) and I was a bit taken back that she didn't acknowledge or apologize; more like, "okay you're ready to order?" I know staffing is tough right now so we a grateful to anyone working in the service industry. Food was not bad. I had beet salad with pistachio cod. The table bread was warm, fresh and delicious. We will definitely be back but may be a bit more proactive with getting our order in. read more
