Torn on this review because I didn't hate it, but there's definitely room for improvement. The good: The hot honey pizza! Delicious, possibly a little oily but a very tasty pizza and I wish it was a regular on the menu and not a special. The not so good : The lasagna. I was so excited for this but it was a let down, but NOT because of the flavor.. I actually liked the flavor and there was potential however it was mush. At first we thought we were eating mounds of cheese but then realized it was a mix of cheese and uncooked pasta dough. We showed our server and she was so nice to take it back to the kitchen, in which they said it's just how they make their pasta sheets (thin) which okay, but no... I felt I would have been able to take what was given to me and roll out some more sheets to cook again that's how doughy it was. But again, our server was sweet and took it off the bill since we decided to send it back. All in all, I think I would give them another chance especially knowing they've changed their menu since I last visited. Hopefully the kinks have been worked out since (I went in November).

Stopped in for a bite after a work event and had a great experience! We sat at the bar and were immediately welcomed with attentive service. West was amazing--super friendly, knowledgeable, and gave great recommendations on both food and wine. He suggested a wine for us to try, and it was so good we ended up getting a glass. He stayed engaged the entire time and made sure our first visit was a great one. Before we left, he also shared the specials and gave us ideas on what to try next time. We'll definitely be back--and we'll be sitting with West again!

Beautiful decor, nice ambiance, very friendly servers, and amazing fresh pasta, bread and cocktails.

Pulpo spagnole special (grilled octopus over risotto with eggplant and ajoblanco)--delicious!

This is a charming little addition to the Phoebus area restaurant scene. We were thinking of dining at Mama Rosa's but the wait was long, so we fortunately opted to stop by Culaccino, which I had been wanting to try for awhile. The interior decor is somewhat rustic, but the food was surprisingly sophisticated. We split a Greek salad to start which was generously sized and fresh, highlighted by huge castelvetrano olives. My dining partner enjoyed the sizable chicken parm sandwich (made better by a request for more of the excellent marinara on the side). I was very pleasantly surprised that the pulpo spagnole special (described as "squid and eggplant" by the server) turned out to be very tender grilled octopus over a buttery risotto accented by a well-seasoned eggplant caponata and surrounded by a cool and creamy ajoblanco soup. It was exquisite, and I hope they keep it on the menu longer. We finished with the olive oil cake which had hints of orange and rosemary and was nicely plated with a delicious lemon curd and Chantilly cream. Service was prompt, and we enjoyed having the chef stop by to chat about the special. This was our first visit here but will not be our last!

We came in on a Saturday night to try out the new italian place that had opened in Phoebus. As soon as we walked in, we were immediately greeted and sat. The ambience in the restaurant was wonderful, and the food was excellent. We got the White Pizza, and I was nervous about it since I'm not typically an alfredo fan. The pizza was delicious and I would highly recommend it. We also got the focaccia appetizer and a couple glasses of wine. Everything was wonderful and we are already making plans to go back!

Good Italian food for being in the south. We all enjoyed our food! Cozy and quiet vibe while I dined. Service was excellent and waitress was extremely attentive. I had the lasagna bolognese for my main course which was delicious. Our table had a Caesar salad, meatballs, and calamari as well.

Service, food, & ambiance were great! We tried a variety of menu items. They accommodated a party of 8-10 with no issues. We had a great time & will definitely be back!

The place is small, somewhat intimate/ close seating, but we were seated in a booth so not directly facing any other diners. The place was hopping! I started off with some very nicely brewed unsweet tea. A large plate of garlic knots were placed on the table. They were a bit doughy inside, just needed another minute of cook time. Portions are huge. We ordered one of the specials, 3 canneloni topped with shrimp and scallops, 2 large pieces of chicken parm with spaghetti, and a sausage with penne pasta. All meals included a basic green salad. We each ate about half of our entrees. They were very tasty! Service was attentive. Bill came to about $80 for 3 meals, a tea and a soda. The parking lot is busy but plenty of spaces, entrance tight for a wheelchair user but no steps. Dining area is very crowded. Still, we were looking for a slightly more upscale Italian meal and this did fill the bill. Plus we have pretty much a complete meal to take home!

I could tell that they have a well-oiled operation in that regard! Other than that, I'm afraid everything else was just extremely mediocre and bland. The only good food item we had was the bread. My husband and I both got different plates of ravioli of which was undercooked (I realize al dente is a popular way to prepare, but we don't care for it at all). My dish came in a wine sauce and it just looked and tasted like a microwaveable Lean Cuisine meal. We wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return.

I'm not big into Italian food so maybe that's why. But just this Friday, a friend in a social group celebrated her birthday. So I decided to join in and finally check out this spot. Let's see how the night went, shall we? Our party had a reserved table up front by the check-in booth and the bar. Inside the decor is a bit dated, but everything was clean and tidy. Overall, it's not that big of a restaurant, but it can fit a decent crowd. After enjoying some salad and garlic bread, we were all ready to order. My meal was Pollo Marsala. Overall, the dish was good. I preferred slightly bigger chicken breasts, but what I had was good enough. The protein was cooked nicely and there was enough spaghetti to mix with the chicken and mushrooms. I also had some grated parmesean cheese which added some flavor to the dish. What a wonderful night for all of us. Table service, hospitality and good food. You couldn't have asked for anything more. Yours truly will be back soon :)

This has been high on my "want to try" for a long time and finally saw an opportunity with an available reservation, went for it and am so happy I did. I dined solo, which I rarely do, but this was the perfect place for it. It was apparent that most people dining were regulars. The owner was chatting with just about everyone and diners were popping over to other tables to say hello, as well. Felt like a very small town. Service was perfect - not overbearing, but perfectly timed for a good flow throughout dinner. Their menu changes often, so some of the items I loved, may not be available - but it does seem like their fried oysters are a mainstay and holy moly, they were delicious. I had one cocktail - I believe it was called Watermelon Sugar. It had vodka, aperol and fresh watermelon. Refreshing and smooth. I tried two apps: the fried oysters and the bao buns. Both were fantastic. Perfectly prepared, so much flavor. I think that next time, I would stick to the appetizer section and try many rather than getting an entree. I got the scallops, which were delicious, but the apps wow-ed me more. Prices aren't low, but you get what you pay for - really high quality dishes with lots of thought and execution embedded. I don't say this lightly - this has been added to my top 10 list in all of Hampton Roads!
