This is one of those places where you would go when you want comfort food, but better than diner quality. The portions are large and the food is good. It's not the best Italian food I've ever had, but it's better than most. The selection is large and the service is great. The French onion soup was cheesy and delicious. The feta burger was a good texture with lots of cheese! The pizza to me could have used more cheese, but it was still good heated up the next day. And the Italian combo platter is huge, enough to feed two. I can't speak too highly of the side salad. It was just okay and not as good as the soup for a side. But overall, it's a good comfort food type of restaurant that you will have good solid food at. read more

Beware, very racist owner and employees. I ordered a steak that was not made to the temperature I ordered, so i politely pointed out the discrepancy. I was told by the owner that she has been serving steak longer than "you people" and "your family" have been around. I received dirty nasty looks from the all white staff and was told to "get out" and "never come back" when I told her I was uncomfortable with her racist "you people" comment. If you have even a shred of morality, value humanity and would like to eat somewhere where the staff is polite and respectful DO NOT EAT HERE and keep your loved ones as far away from "these people" as possible. This restaurant is the local version of "Cheers". You know "where everyone knows your name." That's true at Van Costa's Waiters and Waitresses come and go but Leigh and Toni have a knack for hiring people who are great at what they do, but also have a welcoming personality! I never leave poor reviews but in this case I feel like it's important to be honest and to share with potential customers my experience. I have tried Vancosta's four times, I have a policy to not write off a place until three attempts. Each time was a profound disappointment. The lasagna might as well have been a casserole, the Greek food was clearly prepared in bulk at the beginning of the week and had no flavor, the side salads might as well just be taken off the menu and the spinach pizza I ordered used frozen spinach and was inedible. The staff were friendly but this restaurant has truly run its course and should be avoided. I can't even say it was a good value as I didn't finish any of my dishes they were so bad. read more

I popped inside with my wife for the First time ever. My wife has ordered take out prior when in town. We stood at the front door waiting for direction or to be acknowledged for at least 4 minutes. My wife decided to walk to the counter and ask if we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated. Waitress behind counter told her we could seat ourselves. (There was no sign stating to seat yourself) We sat at a table near the counter. We sat for 7 minutes. At least 3-4 waitresses walked by greeting other customers. Not "a" worker greeted or acknowledged us from the time we walked in the door. So we left quietly without a fuss. Needless to say these people working here were rude. I will not imply race but we were the only non-Caucasian's in the building. I recommend eating at Anna's Italian Pizza where the environment was welcoming, waitress is friendly, fast, food was delicious and worth many more visits. read more

Food typically good but this was my first time in a long time not ordering it to go..and actually going inside. When entering no one greeted me or my wife. there is no sign that says seat yourself. When I went to the counter to ask, waitress said yes to seating ourselves. We sat down near the registers and waiting 7 mins without anyone acknowledging us. Four waitresses walked pass us giving food to other patrons and greeting people as they passed and STILL NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED me or my wife. After almost 10 mins, we got up and left. I've never sat at a place and not been greeted or addressed. It is hard to not think there was a factor or two why we were looked over a minimum of 4x. it seemed very obvious. read more

Awesome, heartwarming staff, great food and homey-feeling restaurant. My girlfriend and I wanted to get some pizza/Italian before going to Paragon and searched up the closest spot. Driving up to this area felt kinda sketch especially at night, but once we went in I already knew this was a good place to stop by. We ended up getting an 8" Margherita pizza and an Althenian Platter which weren't that bad. I wasn't really expecting somewhat raw tomatoes on the pizza, but it was whatever. I was just hungry for anything. The Althenian Platter came with a small salad with a small pita, gyro, lamb (I think), and fries. Wasn't bad either. I think next time I come here, I'll come strictly for pizza or maybe explore their menu more. Although the food wasn't the greatest, I think the atmosphere this gave off made me really enjoy my food here as if I was eating in my living room watching Jeopardy. read more

Ordered a half pounder burger, a Greek burger, and a pizza, it was all very tasty..the meat was cooked to order and seasoned nicely...the cheese on the pizza was real stringy and tasty mozzarella! The Greek burger had feta cheese and a sauce that went well together, with the perfect amount of ingredients, not messy and too wet like a lot of burgers..My husband said the inside looked like somewhere he'd want to eat, the customer service was good, not to mention the prices were great! I never heard of this place, found it all of a sudden while searching online for a place to get dinner around us, something we have done many times, and it happens to be next to our dentist! This place is a staple in Hampton, and that's not necesarily a compliment. It's dingy and old, I chose to pick up my food and leave rather than eat there. They have a good pizza and a GREAT greek burger. It's a burger with greek spices in the meat, topped with feta, tzaziki, lettuce, tomato and onion. It was recommended for me to visit the restaurant today for lunch. I decided to take out since my lunch was short. I walked in and the young lady (Blonde) was very nice. Time period was about 12:00pm - 12:15pm. So my order was taken and I sat down to wait. After a while, I notice a half an hour to forty-five minutes had past. I ask how much longer. I was told about 3 mins. So I notice when I had arrived, there was only about 3-4 tables being used. Afterwards it became crowed. Every guest at the table was being served by the manager. So when I got my food, the manger said to my that "I must have never eaten in a restaurant". For what I don't know. I said she needed better customer service skills. I left then I was told she shouted that I could keep my money too. If the owner hires these type of people to run their establishment she will cause you to lose lots of patronage. I told her I was on the city council and she said she didn't care. I will never recommend or go to that place ever again. read more

Absolutely love this place! If you're looking for a homey place where everyone knows everyone else, come here. You can tell by the decor that it is made to be something of a community dining room rather than a flashy place that's all about the looks. When you're there, you feel like family and the food it family-cooking. Now, the gyros left something to be desired, but I'm also extremely spoiled when it comes to gyros. However! The pizza and the pot pie - OH MY GOD the pot pie - are to die for. If you are coming to check out this place for the first time, get the pot pie. It is delicious!! I try to support my local businesses but it seems like everytime i order the servings get smaller and smaller. Eggplant sub was my favorite it used to be loaded with eggplant, sauce, and a generous amount of cheese, now its dry of sauce very little Eggplant and not much cheese.
