We've been 3 times. Each visit, the staff was friendly, attentive, and well-informed about the menu. Service was "not rushed" and staff didn't "hover" too much. It was more of a "leisurely pace" in a good way. I'd say if you're in a hurry, you may find the pace too slow, though come at a time when you have time to relax and enjoy your meal. Our first visit, I got the Osso Bucco and my wife the Crabcakes special. The Osso Bucco was insanely good. Tender - the bones just pulled right out. It was served atop risotto and plated with roasted root vegetables (carrot, purple carrot, pearl onions that were either pickled or caramelized, and small potatoes) with an au jus. The crabcakes (which of course I tried) were huge. I mean, you rarely see crabcakes like this anymore, and there were two. Crabcake tastes vary, but let me say that these were what I expect Crabcakes to be: crabmeat, enough breading to hold it together and make it a "cake", and flavoring (old bay was present). They came with roasted or grilled asparagus, which you know, was asparagus :-). We also got the Oysters Rockefeller appetizer which if you like it, you have to try it. If you don't, you have to try it. Enough said. We ended up totally cleaning the shells out with bread it was so good. Our second visit, we had pizza. We got the Mushroom (funghi), which had no red sauce, and the Sausage (alla vodka), which had a Vodka sauce. I was honestly disappointed in the Mushroom because it's advertised as "mixed" mushrooms but it looked all basic white or at best portabello - I expected a more obvious number of types. Nonetheless, the flavor was outstanding. They do in fact have a "wood fired, brick oven" style that many who advertise don't, and the crust/dough was light and just exactly what I expect of that style. ALMOST as good as Pizza Bella Vista (RIP). The Garlic/Truffle sauce was really good and works great with the mushrooms. The Sausage pizza my wife liked better, and it was definitely good, but I felt the cheese was "gummy" - maybe just too much for the pizza (being as it's a light crust, and the sauce was SO good I really wanted it to come through more). The pizza was served with a plastic cup of grated parmesan, and a cup of crushed red peppers - a nice touch rather than have the canisters on the table. Our third visit, we got appetizers ("tapas"): Oysters Rockefeller again (had to), the Mussels, the Wagyu Ravioli, and the Arancini. Of those we hadn't had yet, the Mussels had TWENTY FOUR - TWO DOZEN Mussels in it. It was a meal on its own. And this might be the first time I've gotten Mussels in the last 20 years when they didn't sent out Mussels that didn't open. ALL 24 were open (and there were actually 25, a much smaller one was there too, and it was fine!). The sauce was a more watery (soup-like, hence the dish's name) tomato-based sauce with a bit of spice. I loved it, wasn't my wife's thing. The Arancini was something I'd never had before and I loved it. It was in the same vodka sauce as the pizza. Wife was also not as big on this one. Wagyu Ravioli - NGL - and I hate to say this - reminded me of my childhood with Chef Boyardee! No, it didn't TASTE like that, but the conistency was interestingly just like canned ravioli. I don't mean that to sound bad, but it was just funny. My wife didn't get that (she's was above eating such things as a child) and this was her 2nd favorite after the Oysters of course. We got Creme Brulee for dessert each visit. So rare to see that on menus, so gotta get it when you can. If you know, you know. Broad, shallow ramekin, so more surface area for sugar crust. Yummm! We did have wine on some of the visits, and the selection is vast. The two I tasted were great, as was my wife's. We're planning to not only eat our way around the menu, but drink our way around the wine list. There are two things I do want to add, and this in no way reflects on the quality of food - which BTW as many reviews note, while pricey (isn't everything today) the portions are what I would consider absolutely fair, and even a good value for the dollar (especially the mussels!). First, I would not consider this "Mediterranean" cuisine at all, nor do I think anyone familiar with the term would. It typically elicits ideas of Greek, and Middle Eastern, and even Spanish or North African food in addition to Italian, which is of course also in the Mediterranean. It is pretty solidly Italian-focused, despite calling the appetizers "Tapas" and maybe tossing olives in a few dishes. There's also a distinct lack of any fish dishes, thought the other typical Italian seafood - Mussels, Clams, Calimari, and Shrimp were there. Second, many dishes are "the same ingredients used in different ways" which is of course economical, but I do fear over time, that may make the dishes all "taste the same". Nonetheless, the food is high quality, prepared right, presented tastefully, and worth your hard-earned dough. read more

We celebrated Debra's birthday last night at the newer Vino in Suffolk with a party of about 20 people, and it was a wonderful experience. Our server, Desiree, was an absolute delight. Serving a group our size is no easy task, yet she handled it with grace, a smile, and great professionalism. She could have used an extra set of hands at times, but despite that, she did an outstanding job taking care of everyone. A special compliment also goes to the chef and kitchen staff. It's impressive that every meal came out hot--not just warm--and in a timely manner for such a large group. The food was delicious, and everyone at our table thoroughly enjoyed their meals. We truly had no complaints. The only suggestion I would make is that the air conditioning in the smaller dining room could use some attention, as it became a bit warm during the evening. That aside, it did not take away from our overall experience. Thank you to the entire staff, especially Desiree and the chef, for making Debra's birthday celebration so enjoyable and memorable. I love Sangria and the Pina Colada Sangria did not disappoint! Delicious! The fresh bread with dipping oil and red pepper flakes was tasty, as well. I decided on the Eggplant Parmigiana with Penne and it was very good. I love that you can choose your pasta, and that it came out hot and tasty. My friends' choices all looked yummy, too, from the pizzas to the salads (especially the Caprese salad)!Nice spacious restaurant and our waitress was very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable with the menu. Tried this restaurant for the first time as my granddaughter has been really finicky about eating the last couple of days and I know she loves pasta. I ordered the kids pomodoro pasta which was A LOT of food for a 2 year old but she attacked her plate and ate it almost all gone! My husband, Son and daughter in law were all raving about their meals and we had the sweetest server of all. Everyone was super friendly and attentive without being intrusive which is a tough line to tow. All in all we really enjoyed our visit and can't wait to return during our next trip to Virginia! read more

The restaurant is in a good location and has nice decor. The windows during the afternoon are a bit blinding. They need to install blinds or roller shades as the light disturbed most of the customers. My waitress was very nice and tried really hard to help us when we had some issues. Considering we did have some issues, I was surprised we never saw a manager. The issue was fully taken care of by the waitress though. On to the food, my son had a tortellini carbonara. He said it was wonderful, and it looked very appetizing. I ordered the carpaccio, but the plastic packaging was left on my appetizer plate. The carpaccio itself was very tasty. I also ordered the Margherita pizza. I was extremely shocked at their version of a margarita pizza. It has no sauce, only cheese, olive oil, unripe tomatoes, and little strips of basil. I'm surprised the chef allowed the dish to leave the kitchen. I would not recommend their Margherita pizza as it was tasteless and had unripe tomatoes, as is shown in the picture. My waitress, as I mentioned, was very helpful, and she did offer me another selection on the menu. I tried their Veal Portifino, and we discussed that I did not want the pasta with it, yet the dish came out on top of pasta. This was also fixed. I am giving this restaurant four stars, hoping that some of these issues are due to them being a new restaurant. The flavor of the veal Portofino and my son's pasta makes me believe that the four stars are warranted. I hope this honest review helps this restaurant improve and grow. read more

The restaurant was very clean and beautiful upon entry. Our waitress said she had been with the company a long time, and she was knowledgeable and so sweet/bubbly! We had several appetizers, my favorite was the shrimp scampi with risotto. We had Buffalo cheese ravioli- wow the sauce with the roasted red peppers was amazing, I could drink it. We had chicken parm and it was nicely fried with a homemade tomato sauce. My chicken Marsala was a very light and had liquid sauce, I'm used to more of a gravy, so this may be a preference! The restaurant offers small portions for dishes which is great! We also got the cheese cake, crème brûlée and tiramisu- decadent desserts. We had a big sampling of the menu. As other reviewers have mentioned, the location is excellent and the décor is very appealing. We visited on a Saturday evening with a group of 11 people. Normally, I would be understanding of longer wait times due to the size of our party, but the restaurant was only about two-thirds full, and there was no wait for guests without reservations. Unfortunately, the service and timing were extremely disappointing. Other than the bread, it took nearly two hours before any food reached our table. I ordered an alcoholic drink that was, quite frankly, one of the worst I have had. The one bright spot was our waitress, who was friendly, attentive, and did her best to make the experience enjoyable. The entire meal took approximately three and a half hours, which is simply unacceptable. The appetizers were average at best--the calamari was rubbery, and the dishes were not served at an ideal temperature. When we voiced our concerns, we were told the general manager could not speak with us because he was in the kitchen helping. While I appreciate that he was trying to assist, customer concerns should still be addressed. Four members of our group ordered the chicken piccata, and all four commented that the dish was overly runny and that the chicken had an unpleasant, rubbery texture. My salmon entrée was actually good, but the rice underneath was severely overcooked and tasted as though it had been prepared well in advance. The only positive takeaway from the visit was that the prices were reasonable. However, this experience will not make this restaurant one of our regular dining choices. I would encourage the ownership group to focus less on expanding and acquiring additional restaurants and more on improving consistency, food quality, and service across their existing locations. I would also point out that another Italian restaurant previously failed at this exact location, and the same issues that led to that outcome should be taken seriously. read more

While the food was good, it wasn't better than the other Italian eateries in our area. When a restaurant is new it should really perform at an even higher level in order to capture customers loyalty. We were completely disappointed at the end of the meal when our server informed us that our $150 VINO gift card could not be honored at that location. To be clear, it was purchased at one of their other Vino restaurants and ALL are owned by the same people. We asked for the manager but after a 20 minute wait, it was obvious they weren't coming to our table. My husband found her and tried to discuss how little sense this made. The manager simply didn't care and wasnt willing to do anything about it. As I said earlier, there's plenty of other Italian restaurants with long established roots in this area. My business will ALWAYS go to Vinos competition because of the bad experience had there. Very disappointed. read more

My meal was inedible. I ordered the veal francese. The veal coating was slimy and fell off the veal while I was trying to cut a piece. The angel hair pasta was over cooked so it was almost mushy. Had a $150 gift card that when I went to pay, was told that their brand new payment system can't recognize a gift card bought at another one of their locations EVEN though the Suffolk location was listed on the front of the card. They should have told us when we arrived or at least a sign saying that they don't honor their own gift cards. Worse part was that the bar manager who I talked to, really did not care, showed no empathy, didn't comp anything or try to make things right. read more
