Nice bar located in Benicia (1st street area). Just look for the brick building towards the end of the street. You wouldn't know there is a bar until you see the sign at the front. Nice cozy hidden bar once you get inside! It has both inside and outside spots to hang out for a drink. Service is excellent and staff is very friendly. They also have tastings on local spirits if you come at the right time.

Is this even legal? Why would they not allow patrons to pay tip using their credit card? I feel bad for the bartenders this is so not cool!

Love this spot minus the way the owner wants tip to payed to his bartenders. Who carries cash nowadays let alone they don't even have an ATM on site smh. Either way Jordan, Alex and Tom are all great and well worth the visit. Someone Just needs to tell the owner that patrons should have the option how they want to tip and not limit tips to cash period.

Let the bartender pick for me and she made a custom drink so good.

Great place, would definitely go back. Bartender was friendly. This place is a hidden gem and has a nice view out back.

Tucked away inside of a red brick building, this place is a true hidden gem! We met an out of town family member here for a drink before heading to dinner nearby and were amazed by the charm and decor. Everyone that came in was so friendly with stories to share and the owner is truly amazing. Super welcoming and knows his spirits! I told him that I wanted to try something new and a few questions later, he surprised me with a pear cider that was out of this world. For the warmer months, they also have a really cute patio area out back that you can see the water from. We will most definitley be back on our next trip!

Beautiful day out for a refreshing brew on the patio! Great selection. Tucked in the Tannery building, might be my new fave spot.

Attended the annual car event and saw Cullen's Pub. Was greeted by Jordan who was friend and welcoming. Boyfriend got a Sunday Bloody Sunday and while I was deciding chose a salty dawg. Jordan prep and made them good and strong. Highly recommend

Fellow Tavern & Pub Lover's, What a truly iconic place, filled with Ole World Décor, etc. made and handcrafted by the owner's (Dennis & Denise) .. .. And I've come to enjoy the freshly made drinks, and their rare tasting Tap Brew Beers, poured by Dennis and his Staff !! .. .. .. Andrew !! And what a GREAT place to enjoy LIVELY conversation with the locals, and out of towners who love this historical community/town as much as I do !! .. .. I too, like many who come here, share in the joy and the sweat & tears that "both" Dennis & Denise Cullen put into making it a very special and "Quirky" Irish Pub, tucked away in the Tannery Building, with a view of/on the Benicia Waterfront !! .. .. With out a doubt, a very very special place, and good food bought directly to YOU from CHAR'S Hot Dogs and Hamburger's, etc. right next door !! .. .. Stopped in for the first time today and was welcomed by Jordan, the bartender who made me a whiskey sour with egg whites that was one of the best I ever had. Definitely will be back.

Ask Jordann for a whiskey sour!

I have been here quite a few times. I often order the same drinks, as I usually do when I go out. But sometimes im feeling adventurous. Well thank you Jordann for the amazing whiskey sour... great recommendation to try something different.

The "Cheers" of Benicia. Always a smile to greet you, Friendly people to chat with and libations to satisfy your thirst and an owner who is happy to educate you on whisky. Make sure you visit this establishment when you visit our town.

I love this place. Located nearly at the end of 1st street is Cullens. A steampunk themed pub. Theres parking all around but it is very easy to miss unless you are walking. They always have great beers on tap and some of the best cocktails in town. This place definitely is a hidden gem. A lot of nights when me and my friends made our treks up and down 1st St, this has been my favorite final stop(pretty convenient too when you are walking distance from home!). My favorite drink here is the Garskey's Shipwreck. It's basically like a Long Island Iced Tea but 3 times better! It has 3 different types of booze in it with Orange and Lime Juice. Needless to say, I've gotten some lovely sleep after ending on this drink. But what I like most is the atmosphere here. It's always very clean and just very homie. As an added perk, you can order from Chars and have them deliver a hotdog(or whatever you want), to Cullens. Lastly the bartenders are always nice and professional. It's always a treat to come here. It might be because some of my first dates ended at my this place when I first started dating my girlfriend, that Cullens will always have a special place in my heart. But at the end of the day, Cullens is just awesome!!

I never waited in the beverage line for more than a few minutes. Food was ordered at the bar and servers ran it out. Several TVs inside along the wall, a large projector screen on the east wall, and a 65" outside all displayed the game. The sound was good too. I had no difficulty hearing the match over the noise of the crowded venue. Water was supplied next to the bar and was self service. It was constantly kept full. I never saw it empty. When the bar served so much it ran out of glasses they already had plastic cups available. Overall, great spot full of great people. Well done.

My wife and I had just visited Abbey Tavern this past weekend, a premier Scottish pub in the City, and we expected a similar atmosphere. However, the moment we showed up, we were met with great disappointment. The Goose & Fern is honestly a terrible place to watch a sports match: there was only a single TV mounted in the back corner of the restaurant, the TV wasn't particularly large, and the speakers had been turned completely off. What a bust. Although the food was decent, especially the Shepherd's pie -- which came piping hot in a small cast iron skillet, the service was downright dreadful and almost non-existent. We never received waters (or were even asked if we wanted beverages), our table wasn't given enough silverware, we were never checked on during the meal, and we were waiting around for 30 minutes twiddling our thumbs before somebody from our party finally went up to try to pay for the check. In hindsight, a tip was not warranted for the lack of service. Overall, Yelp grossly misled me on The Goose & Fern. This is not a spot I would stop by again to watch a sporting match. If you're in this part of Santa Rosa, do yourself a favor and head over to Dave and Busters down the street where they have a bunch of massive screens, tons of beer options, and service that will far surpass what you're getting here.

A must-visit place for anyone living in the area (4/5 Green Stars)…read moreBring cash! That's the first rule of Schmidt's Pub. Maybe it's the only rule! I've been coming here a bit more regularly, lately - more visits in the last year compared to the previous decade, in fact. Now I wonder what I was waiting for. According to the East Bay Express, Schmidt's Pub is "basically your living room, but better" - that does sum it up, except that very few of us have living rooms anything like this, with a cozy fireplace surrounded by comfy armchairs and rustic tables beside sunny windows. Not many of us have living rooms with Old Speckled Hen on tap, or populated with an entertaining parade of quirky folk and friendly dogs. If the people and dogs are not entertaining enough then pick up a copy of Calvin and Hobbes or A History of Clay Pipes (okay, I made that one up) and have a little retreat with a pint. 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on these factors: * Beer on tap (transported in reusable kegs) has a much lower footprint compared to bottles or cans. * Allows you to bring your own food, which is good for folk like vegans who are often more comfortable with BYO. * The snacks available at the counter could be a bit more Berkeley (or Albany)! They were mostly from big corps - Lays chips (PepsiCo) and chocolate bars from Mars. Would be nice to see a more imaginative/ethical selection. * A great community space with an inclusive atmosphere. Schmidt's is home to many groups (e.g., knitting) and provides a second family for many, some who send postcards from their trips! * Finally, we shouldn't underestimate the importance of having a place to slow down, reflect and connect with each other a little. In that respect, Schmidt's Pub is worth its weight in gold.

From the very beginning, the customer service was lacking. Before finalizing my event, I visited the venue in person to ask questions and get a better understanding of the space. The Hispanic male employee I interacted with was unfriendly, unapproachable, and unable or unwilling to answer even basic questions, repeatedly telling me to contact sales. While I understand that sales handles bookings, I expected someone who works at the venue to be able to provide some level of assistance or information. Unfortunately, his attitude remained the same during the event. Several things that had been requested were not set up as discussed, and the overall atmosphere felt unwelcoming. What upset me most was that some of my guests arrived carrying water bottles, and this employee openly told me, in front of my guests, that he would kick us out if he sees outside drinks again. I found this incredibly embarrassing, unprofessional, and completely inappropriate. The experience became so uncomfortable that many of my guests left early. For what was supposed to be a special occasion, the service and treatment we received fell far below expectations. Considering the amount spent, I expected professionalism, hospitality, and a welcoming environment. Unfortunately, we received the opposite. I would not host another event here, nor would I recommend this venue to others looking for a place to celebrate an important occasion.

Lucked out with a table (anywhere) to sit with our dog. They offer water bowls and toys to play with while we're dining. They were setting up for Karaoke (Friday/Saturday nights). There's so much to explore with all the knick knacks. The playlist in the dining room area was a wide range of music - I don't know how to explain it but you're listening to "It's a Small World" and then "Sweet Caroline!" He tried adding some HP sauce to a few bites, adding salt and pepper, and just could not make it edible. he was really disappointed because that is one of his favorites. I told him he should mention it and see if they could bring him something else, but he was adamant that would just make more work for them and he'd feel bad. I did remind him that shepards' pie is not a very seasoned meal. And he said it wasn't just that, but that everything tasted like it came out of tin. I reminded him, as a human who has lived in England, that this was also not out of the ordinary. We did decide we'd try it again next time we were over that way, and he already has chosen something else to try, so the rest of it (including his Mango Cider) was good enough to have him not give up on it.
