Fish & Chips. My husband loved this!!
    Nancy S.

We came here for a late lunch after arriving in Sonoma from flying in from San Fran. We were tired and hungry. Our rental vehicle was not the best either. Stressed out. After a few beers, we settled in and relaxed. Our server was great, and she gave us enough time to chill. The outdoor area was beautiful, but it was a warm day, so we chose to eat inside. When we ordered, the service was excellent and quick. I ordered the Chili verde without rice. Amazing. It's one of the best things I've tasted in years!!!! My husband got the fish and chips, his usual go-to. He loved them! I would not hesitate to come back to HopMonk! Oh, btw, GPS took us the wrong way, so be aware. We ended up in a paid parking lot of business offices and walked around a bit before we found the restaurant. Had to repark to avoid a ticket.

Solid 3.5 food option if you're looking for something last minute. We came here because I canceled my reservation at girl and the fig and thought we'd wing it there or at sunflower cafe in downtown Sonoma, which was a real fail on my part!! Crazy lines esp on a nice day and with a larger group of 6 and a dog. We ended up finding this place on Yelp! Close by, able to find parking, and offered dog and kid friendly patio seating last minute. Pros: - Nice patio area with live music 12:30-2:30 when we came on a Saturday - Expansive menu with options spanning burgers, tacos, pasta, salads and a kids menu - Food was hit or miss, but the misses were not terrible - Generous portions - Dog and kid friendly patio seating Cons: - Food service was slow - we came at 1:30 pm and it took about 30 min - Was a little pricey for what I unfairly thought would be more affordable than options in the downtown plaza - Food was hit or miss; I didn't love my smash burger nor did my mom really like her fish and chips - Pretty easy to find parking Overall I wouldn't be opposed to coming back if we needed to find something but I think there are tastier options you could book in advance nearby

Really impressed with this place! On my last day in Sonoma I took a walk towards the square and passed HopMonk along the way so decided to stop by for a late lunch! Grabbed a table on their outside patio and although it was warm, there was plenty of shade! Service was fast and friendly and it turned out it was happy hour so enjoyed $10 fish tacos that were pretty great and very fresh! Incredible deal for the serving! Also enjoyed a fantastic grilled artichoke! Washed it all down with a Pliny because I cannot get that back home and it was a great meal before heading back to SFO! Very impressed!

Service was top shelf a the food was outstanding! I had the Quinoa salad with butternut squash, cranberries and salmon , which was a large serving and enough for two people. It's one of the best salads I've had recently! The outdoor seating is costed now for winter a not too to cold but sunny and easy pleasantly relaxing, the bar was not too loud for quiet conversations on the patio. The entrance an parking are in the back and not on Broadway aka Hiway 12 that leads you to the town square in Sonoma. The only needed improvement to become a 5 star eatery and pub is to expand the bathroom beyond a single stall and toilet for a location of this size. Great menu and beer selection, to include Death and Taxes !

Stopped in for an afternoon drink and snack with some family. The space is somewhat beer garden-esque. Most of the patio is covered, with a hodgepodge of umbrellas and canopies. The grilled artichoke I ate was just ok. Good flavor, but a bit overcooked and I didn't love the dipping sauce. I had a glass of wine and it too was just ok- I was with beer drinkers and they didn't love their selections either. Service was prompt and for the area nothing seemed to be ridiculously expensive, so that's a plus.

We took a day trip to Sonoma to take our little to Train town. We stopped in for a late lunch before we headed back home. We sat on the deck in the patio area since the weather was nice. The outdoor is beautiful and they have a ton of shade options. My little of course picked the Mac and cheese. My husband and I chose an item off of the special menu. With our entrees we had the chose of 3 different types of fries or salad. My husband picked garlic fries and I did sweet potato. When my plate arrived I was surprised to find sweet potato waffle fries. They were perfectly seasoned and fried. My grilled chicken sandwich had fresh mozzarella and pesto mayo. The service was great and we didn't wait too long for our food to be served. I highly recommend stopping here. I know we will next time we are I. The area.

Well..I had hoped for the best and acquired worse. Parking ..they have a parking lot or street parking We were seated inside...and our wooden table top was grimy and blah. The waitress was kind... unfortunately, she would ask a question, start to receive an answer from us and walk away quickly. I felt like I was I an SNL skit. It was very odd. Our food was okay ..my fish and chips were actually good, crisp, fresh and tasty.( thus the two star rating--otherwise maybe a one star) My wife's chicken sandwich...was advertised with cheese and dressing of which there were none and sweet potato fries were overdone and almost burnt. It was late and were not in the mood to re-order or wait for a correction . My cocktail tasted watered down and the wine was okay. Anyways ..appetizers with friends is probably okay, anything else beware. We would probably not go back .

We dined in and were seated outside. Our service was very slow and sporadic but the grilled cheese was absolutely incredible.

Stopped by on our way home for a beer. Very good selection. The helpful bartender let me taste a couple to decide what to have. As we comfortably watched the NLDS at the bar, we decided to have dinner. I ordered the seared salmon on thin linguine in a cream sauce with (too many) sun-dried tomatoes and Kalamata olives (would skip these) from the menu. Delicious with a capital D. The salmon was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend this dish. Hubby ordered the penne pasta with chicken, cherry tomato, shallot, pesto and parm from the special menu. Hearty but nothing special. Chicken was a tad dry. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty but really doesn't match the price. He said he enjoyed it tho. The couple next to us had the quinoa salad and thought it was amazing. Her guy had the curry dinner and said it was OK. Bartender was attentive and cheerful. We enjoyed ourselves, good vibe. We'll be back.

It's funny how I chose this spot again while visiting Sonoma, having completely forgotten I'd eaten here before. When I sat down at the restaurant, I had pulled up Yelp and saw my past review. I'm happy to saw this place is still as good as it was when I visited 5 years ago! We were coming from a day of wine tastings and needed something bready to fill us up. We split the chicken cheesesteak that was served on a naan type bread and pickle fries. Both were really good, but the pickle fries were little fried spears. They were delicious and I'd definitely order them again. We were seated outside and it was a chilly afternoon, but they did have ample heaters. I'd definitely recommend this spot for some solid food while in Sonoma.

After our tour of the winery, we'd worked up an appetite and stopped in here to grab a bite to eat. We were able to be seated in the outside eating area. We opted to order multiple items to share: Chicken Wings, Loaded Tavern Fries and the Smash Burger with Field Greens. Everything was fresh and flavorful! Our server was very pleasant and provided excellent service. Highly recommended if in the area!

    Veggie Sandwich

This is our go to restaurant whenever we're in Sonoma. The Korean cauliflower appetizer is my favorite. So crispy and succulent. We ordered the fish and chips, grilled veggie sandwich, and smash burger. Enjoyed our food outdoors on a beautiful June day. Must try!

    Yes, most likely

Sure I was interested in some food but it was also a football Sunday and I wanted a cold frosty beer to celebrate my hike and the start of my roadtrip. I don't do strict planning when it comes to eating and drinking. I often find it more intriguing when serendipity plays a hand. I'm walking down this town's main retail square, insured something was within reach. I pass by this unassuming dive bar with no signage but very well laid out inside. It was surprisingly quiet for a weekend afternoon in a touristy spot. Friendly bartender asked me what I wanted. But I ask first if I could get our local football game on and if they served food. Game yes said it would be on within minutes. Food unfortunately no but there were tons of options outside the door. Ordered a cold lager on tap from the east coast. The lager was light cold and refreshing. I think I finished it within minutes. Tender was quick to ask for a refill, love that. I next get a beer refill, and a Jameson on the rocks to quietly sip on, as I was now committed to watching the first half there. Very impressive glass and pour on the Irish whisky. I take a few sips but finish my beer, but this time much longer to down as I wasn't so parched now. I sip the rest of the whisky but now well diluted from the cold ice, which makes it so much more smooth to me. It opens the spirit, takes away the heat and blooms the flavors. My second round took over an hour. Then halftime hits in the game with a close score, even though my team did not look good. I tell the bartender that I'll close out to look for some lunch. By this time the bar was filling up. 3 perfectly timed drinks for well under $10 bucks a pop just sent me on my long weekend on a sweet note. I found food around the corner where they had a tv and I was able to watch the remaining of the game there. If no TVs were found, I would have gone back to the bar to finish the game. I was still pleased with my short experience there. Small town watering hole encapsulated.

It was very refreshing and well balanced. We got the mozzarella sticks and the bread with ricotta whip. Unfortunately they ran out of their focaccia bread, so they gave us a sesame bread, which was alright. The mozzarella sticks were very good with a great crisp, and I liked the cheese they used. We got 3 pizzas to share, a pepperoni, arrabiatta, and the potato pie. The potato pie was my favorite. It had blue and golden potatoes and the onion and bacon rounded out the flavor well. The pepperoni was solid and the arrabiatta was the groups overall favorite. We asked for a ranch for each person, not realizing they came in larger portions in bowls, so we were very happy as a ranch loving table, but something to keep in mind. The mozzarella sticks are truly a STAR...perfectly crunchy with a tender, "ideal for the cheese pull" center!
