I am reposting it here: We've had a Kinetico system for 10 years and generally it has worked well. However, the authorized dealer, Clark from gowater.com, who provides service for Kinetico in our area (the only dealer in the Santa Barbara area) is very slow to respond (did not return call after two weeks despite the water pressure in the house going to zero when the unit recharged) and the cost of labor is surprisingly high. We just had two tanks replaced under warranty ($250 that was not charged), and the cost of labor, which took probably about an hour, was $725--actually, it was $995 minus $270 for the tank (this was not disclosed to us up front--clearly, we should have asked). Although we like the system, the next time it needs work, we'll either dispose of it and do without softwater or buy another system so that we never have to deal with Clark at gowater.com again (dba Kinetico Quality Water Systems).

We were very surprised, so we called Augies Water Systems, the name and phone number that we found on the water softener. A technician came out and looked at our existing units. His conclusion was that the water softener was indeed softening water. He replaced a few items for around $30.00 and a service fee and suggested we have the units checked annually. He was on time and quite thorough with his visit. We were so impressed and lucky we had called this company. I would highly recommend Augies Water Systems. Generally, when the Rayne office number is called the office staff immediately say 'Hold Please' and put the call on hold without giving the customer a chance to ask to speak to a specific staff member. When I gave the Rayne office staff my credit card number over the phone to pay a bill, later the office staff could not find a record of my transaction and I had to again give them my credit card number. If I had it to do over, I would NOT purchase a system from Rayne! They are incompetent!
