I got take out. Food was delicious! So much flavor and spice - true Laos cuisine. The papaya salad was good but the dried beef that accompanied it was too dry and chewy for me. I was driving home from dinner and saw this place out of the corner of my eye and did a U turn. So glad I did as the smell of the food made me have a 2nd dinner!! If you grew up having any Laos friends this is like eating in their home. My plan of attack is to start at the beginning of the menu and work back so I get to try everything then repeat! Might as well do that with the beers on tap as well:) It's great that they have options such as wine, cider, etc so there is something for everyone. Right when you walk in you get a super cool vibe with welcoming staff. I find many the places in PDX can be pretentious so you will not get that there as the patrons are from all walks of life. Love the concept of this place. Instead of a "dark" and dirty bar, it's a bright open space with big windows. I don't drink beer but they had several varieties on tap including Boneyard (one of the few I know from watching my husband order it). And they've got a great space for kids to play...books, games and toys! And they serve Asian (Laotian) food! And it's good! The noodle soup could stand to have some more noodles in it (hint, hint), but there are other tasty options to help fill your tummy, such as the mango sticky rice. Holy moly! We found a hidden gem today at Cully Central! Pleasantly surprising beer list consisting of many delicious local beers. Also they have $2 Old Germans in a 16oz can! The Lao street food tastes and smells amazing for a very reasonable price. They have a wonderful outside area, along with a clean/comfortable inside area as well. The service was excellent and on top of things. Cully Central is also very kid/family friendly, so don't be afraid to bring it the little ones. Almost forgot to mention they have 4 BIG TVs for sporting events or other viewing pleasures! This is my first, and probably last yelp review. :) I just want to say how happy I am to find this place. The atmosphere was charming, spacious, clean, and family friendly. It was nice to see a small play area for kids. As for the food, this place offers the most authentic Laotian food hands down. I ordered the marinated beef briskets and tomato sauce called Peinng Seng & Jaew, crispy rice salad with herbs called Nam Khao and their Lao sausages. The marinated beef briskets was cooked perfectly and when you dip it with the tomato sauce, it just married eachother. The crispy rice salad with herbs was loaded with flavors. The rice texture was wonderful, crunchy and chewy. It came with a few lettuce so you can also create a delicious lettuce wrap. The Lao sausages was full of flavors and well seasoned. It came with a bag of warm sticky rice. The aroma of the sticky rice brings back nostalgic memories of my mom's cooking. Also, let's not forget about the two bottles of BeerLao Gold I drank. My family and I were very happy with the food, beers and staff here. Flavors in the food were fantastic. The rice dish was the crowd favorite. Very laid back atmosphere and great for kids as there is a great area for kids to play. Woman, presumably the owner, was very friendly and happy to help us pick out all the dishes.
