The theater reminded me of what it used to be going to the theater. We were in Theater 3 and the entry was arched and the theater was ornate. There was so much seating, at least 150 seats, and there is not reserved seating. The seats do not recline , but do have cup holders. Leg room was a bit tight. Sound was excellent , it is surround sound and the screen was clear. A great place to watch a movie.

It is located across from the Peter J. Sharp Building ( where I usually see movies) and next to Whole Foods, housed in the L10 Arts and Cultural Center. I was greeted by the kind employee and he instructed me to go to the 2nd floor to see my film. I entered and two engineers or project managers? were speaking and I stated " Wow, this is really cool!". They smiled and said "This is Day 3 of the cinema opening". I was in a popcorn and soda mood, picked my snacks up at the Concession Stand and walked to my movie room. I walked down a sleek hall with round leather "pouf" orange ottomans; perfect to sit and wait outside for your movie to start. I love the movie theaters that are small and sleek... oohhh what have we here? Leather seating, leg room, big screen and less crowds!" The popcorn and soda were fresh and delicious. The entire staff were wonderful and courteous. BAM is surrounded by cool restaurants like Olea and Miss Ada, Apple for shopping, and nearby Atlantic Avenue Mall. I haven't been a regular moviegoer as I used to be, COVID unfortunately impacted that habit. However, when I do go to see a movie or actor that really motivates me to patronize movie theaters, BAM is now on my top 3 movie theater venues. See ya at the movies! One such place is the 42st Workshop Theater. The theater is located on the fourth floor of the building, and once you get up there the waiting area is very comfortable. There are rest rooms near the entrance to the theater and very well kept. The area where the folks running the play checked for your name on the RSVP list was cute, almost like a mini version of a larger theater's concession stand area. The actual performance space itself is nice. On a hot day, the air conditioning kept a room full of people nice and cool. The stage area is medium sized (I've seen bigger and smaller) and the actors looked like they had no problem moving about on stage. I enjoyed my time (and the play) at this theater and would definitely go back to see more friends perform!

An interesting topic that left my friends and i thinking/discussing on our way out of the theater. I'm looking forward the Workshop's next production...with the wonderful talents of these actors, writers, producers, etc. you are sure to have enjoyable experiences and first looks at productions destined for a larger marquee.

It's been on…read moremy list forever, but I go to the movies at most twice a year and there are no Alamo Drafthouses in New Orleans for some reason. Mainly, I love a movie theater with strict rules (even if you have to rat people out for them to be enforced, but I'll get to that). I also love having food and drinks served to me in a theater, literally the best! I saw The Odyssey here with friends and it was a good experience. I love reserving seats ahead of time so that I know what I can expect. There were only front row seats but even in a movie with tons of action, it wasn't that bad (even if not ideal). The food ordering system is easy enough but I doubt I'd order food here again. If you have any specifications or requests for side items, they will likely not make it to you and here's no way to say, "Hey you forgot my side of marinara sauce" without making a big production out of it. So my side never did arrive nor did my friend's even though the server told each of us on separate occasions that our side would be coming out. My pizza was edible (mushroom/arugula) and appreciate the vegan options, but other than popcorn, I'm not sure ordering food is worth it unless you're desperately hungry (I hadn't eaten all day so that was my situation). A note on the snitch policy. They let you know at the beginning that you should text staff if someone is violating the no talking or texting rules. But hello, if that person is sitting close to you, they're going to know who the snitch bitch was. Other than that, a good movie experience and I love having the option to order a glass of wine to my seat. It's just one of life's little pleasures, movies, wine and popcorn.

The comfortable recliner seats, the fun atmosphere, the tasty food, and the enforcement of proper movie etiquette were all real draws to me. Boy, have times changed. Yes, the seats are still comfortable and the atmosphere is still fun, but the food? Ouch. Lousy. Nothing I ate was edible. The pizza tasted processed and the pretzels I ordered were okay at best, but the dipping sauces were not good at all. They had zero taste. As for the no talking rule, while people still respect the rule for the most part, there were some people next to me softly whispering at times that it made it hard to follow the film I was watching. There were people behind me that were shouting at the screen at inopportune times too. I thought about saying something to a fellow staff member, but let it go as the film I was watching was too good to be engrossed in other peoples' behavior. I will still come back here as the experience still beats going to other movie theaters for the price and the location cannot be beat.

They have an exhibit, and I love the statue of Biggie! Ticket check-in was easy, but we were early so we waited around. The bathroom I went to while waiting wasn't in the best condition. It was clean, but noticeably worn for sure. And soap was spilled all over one of the sinks. The theater where the show took place was also nice -- spacious stage, and I was lucky to be right in the middle with a perfect view. There was a screen in the background of the stage where videos were occasionally played introducing the performers. But the surface was textured to a point where it was a strain on the eyes watching it. Otherwise, if there's ever a show you want to see here, check it out. They turn the waiting area into a nice reception after too!

Beware undergraduates bearing plays!…read more Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts is part of Brooklyn College, and is located at the edge of its campus. Over the summer and sometimes even throughout school year, the venue hosts music and dance performances, some of which are very good. It also hosts high school graduations and, during the course of Brooklyn College's school year, showcases undergraduate and graduate theater department productions. Everything but the undergraduate productions takes place in the large and beautiful Gershwin Theater. It's built like a typical music theater, with three levels of seating and a big stage along the lines of Carnegie Hall. Acoustics of the place aren't as great as Carnegie Hall, but are very good nonetheless, and the prices are very comfortable. The entertainment is usually very good and unusual, with lots of ethnic selections and experimental productions. Graduate student productions are often surprisingly good, though you never know what you're going to get with those. The other part of the Center is called the New Workshop, and is used by theater department undergrads. I'm not even sure if a non-Brooklyn College student can get tickets to those - if not, then that's a blessing, because most undergrad productions are understandably uneven, with everyone from actors to lighting crew still learning the ropes.

We arrived a few minutes after 7p, snagged our seats and enjoyed the show. I love NY theatre, there's something special about it - so zero complaints from me. Six was one of the very few shows I haven't seen several times over so I was over the moon excited to be taken to see it. I'd highly recommend this show if 1. you've seen damn near everything already (me) 2. you are only in town for a short while and want to catch a show. It's one act without an intermission and starts early (7p) you are out by 830p and can be on with your day. Our seats were great, but I'm the type that can find the silver lining to just about any seat in any theatre. We were center Orchestra but I'm sure you're fine anywhere in here. We had a blast!

Cute little theatre that is hosting SIX…read more Friendly staff, everyone is ACTUALLY following protocol for COVID-19, and they are beyond organized. Going to the bathroom after the show was a breeze. They even had a bathroom attendant. I had never seen that at one of these shows. The show itself was fantabulous (that's fantastic and fabulous all rolled up into one), but I'll detail that in another review for the show itself. For now, I'll say that the production really came to life at this venue.
