I cannot believe it has taken me this long in my life to get to an Alamo Drafthouse! It's been on my list forever, but I go to the movies at most twice a year and there are no Alamo Drafthouses in New Orleans for some reason. Mainly, I love a movie theater with strict rules (even if you have to rat people out for them to be enforced, but I'll get to that). I also love having food and drinks served to me in a theater, literally the best! I saw The Odyssey here with friends and it was a good experience. I love reserving seats ahead of time so that I know what I can expect. There were only front row seats but even in a movie with tons of action, it wasn't that bad (even if not ideal). The food ordering system is easy enough but I doubt I'd order food here again. If you have any specifications or requests for side items, they will likely not make it to you and here's no way to say, "Hey you forgot my side of marinara sauce" without making a big production out of it. So my side never did arrive nor did my friend's even though the server told each of us on separate occasions that our side would be coming out. My pizza was edible (mushroom/arugula) and appreciate the vegan options, but other than popcorn, I'm not sure ordering food is worth it unless you're desperately hungry (I hadn't eaten all day so that was my situation). A note on the snitch policy. They let you know at the beginning that you should text staff if someone is violating the no talking or texting rules. But hello, if that person is sitting close to you, they're going to know who the snitch bitch was. Other than that, a good movie experience and I love having the option to order a glass of wine to my seat. It's just one of life's little pleasures, movies, wine and popcorn. read more

When I lived in Virginia, I used to frequent the Alamo Drafthouse all the time, especially the Winchester location (I lived in the area). The comfortable recliner seats, the fun atmosphere, the tasty food, and the enforcement of proper movie etiquette were all real draws to me. Boy, have times changed. Yes, the seats are still comfortable and the atmosphere is still fun, but the food? Ouch. Lousy. Nothing I ate was edible. The pizza tasted processed and the pretzels I ordered were okay at best, but the dipping sauces were not good at all. They had zero taste. As for the no talking rule, while people still respect the rule for the most part, there were some people next to me softly whispering at times that it made it hard to follow the film I was watching. There were people behind me that were shouting at the screen at inopportune times too. I thought about saying something to a fellow staff member, but let it go as the film I was watching was too good to be engrossed in other peoples' behavior. I will still come back here as the experience still beats going to other movie theaters for the price and the location cannot be beat. read more

I was very excited to go to Alamo Drafthouse with friends, but it was a horrible experience. It took me a few days even decide if I wanted to post this review. My friends and I went in to enjoy an exclusive movie experience. We sat down and ordered food and like we typically do at other similar dine in theaters. The food that was delivered to me was not the correct order and so I tried to flag a worker down. I explained to them that I was given the wrong food and they had the worst attitude with me, even though I was super friendly and nice to them. When they brought the food back, they slammed it down on the table, and the food bounced out of the dish and fell on the floor. Even though the experience was horrible I still tipped anyway and was given attitude to the very end of the experience when they picked up the Merchant receipt. That made me realize I should not have tipped in the first place. Based on this experience you'd think I harmed the server myself in someway, but I don't even know these people and it was my first (and last) time at Alamo. read more

I've been to the Alamo Drafthouse in Downtown Brooklyn a few times now, most recently to see the new Spider-Man movie. It's a really nice theater with comfortable seating, and I like that you can order food and drinks directly from your seat during the movie. The location is also super convenient and easily accessible from the BQR Dekalb station, making it an easy theater to get to. My only complaint is the food menu for early morning showings. I went to an 9am screening, and while they had their regular menu available, there weren't any breakfast options. It felt a little odd since they were scheduling movies that early, and I think adding a small breakfast menu would make the experience even better. read more

As many times as I've passed by this area, I didn't even know this theater existed. I wanted to see a movie & since it was in limited theaters to avoid going to the city, I picked this theater. The theater was clean, the service was quick & food & drinks were also good. After seeing mixed reviews regarding the food, I played it safe ordering a side Cesar salad & Chipotle Turkey Avocado wrap. Both were good. I tried their Guava Margarita & I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. I have to make that at home actually lol. The only reason why I had to take away a star is due to the bathroom. When you wave your hand to try & flush, it doesn't operate properly, so there were about 3-4 stalls where the toilet wasn't flushed & I'm assuming due to the difficulty flushing. If they can fix the bathroom toilets, it would be a 5 star experience. read more

EXPERIENCE A movie ticket at Alamo is a bit more expensive than at the larger movie chains (Regal, AMC), and the quality of the moviegoing experience makes sense for the price difference. The seats recently became all recliners--something that only accounts for part of the AMC theaters and almost none of the Regal ones--and the auditorium I watched Mandalorian and Grogu in (Theater 6) used Dolby Atmos sound. I actually didn't find it too loud, especially compared to some of my experiences at AMC. The pre-show was also really nice and invoked nostalgia--a refreshing departure from the typical experience which now includes product commercials on top of trailers. FOOD I am usually pretty satisfied with the food; my go-to was the chicken sandwich. This time, I tried the Mandalorian and Grogu special menu: harissa ground beef wrap, chicken bacon quesadilla and kid pistachio shake. I was pleasantly surprised how their themed food also hit the spot while being reasonably priced! Now, for the criminal offense: the salt & vinegar popcorn. $12 for nearly inedible food that was extremely vinegary and salty. The only pieces that were fine were the goldfish crackers, but otherwise there was no saving it. read more

Easy to purchase tickets online! Helpful greeter! Arrived early and they showed old clips of famous actors! We saw the QR code on tables and ordered via phone not realizing that their were humans also taking orders. I wished I was given the option. Ordered the malbec first time it came in a nice sized glass next time a smaller glass. No consistency. It felt almost like bait and switch. Popcorn wasn't give the option of no salt. My friend loved the wings and fries. I would go back but eat and drink before entering. Seats were comfy. Good crowd. The waiters look stressed. They also said when movie starts to write any additional food requests on paper and hold up. The waiters walked pass my waving card a few times. read more

Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas at City Point is located in Downtown Brooklyn in what used to be Albee Square Mall, it's now a decorative enclosed space. The lower level has an eclectic food court with so many unique food options it was hard to decide. There is a Sephora, Target, Trader joes and three floors of Primark along with shops from independent brands. The Alamo Cinema is on the 4th floor next to Court 16 a Tennis and Pickle ball court. Movie tickets are $19.99 and there is no concession stand, you order food and drinks from your seat and staff bring it to you. I suggest ordering the bottomless popcorn, it was enough for three of us, and we didn't need a refill. The food menu is reasonable price, the theater is clean. They have a strict late entry policy, our show was scheduled for 3:30, seating started at 3:15, however if you come later then 3:45 you will not be allowed to enter ! The escalators were not working inside the theater and a few were out of order inside the mall. The elevators weren't crowed and came frequently. I will visit again and splurge on a sandwich from Katz. read more

Looks like I'm long overdue for an update as some of the info from my previous review is now outdated! To update: 1. Popcorn is now bottomless! Granted, I'm usually solo movie-going here and cannot finish more than a large bowl on my own but I like to know that the option is there if I wanted it. 2. Service is speedier! 3. This location is in a great area - there's a massive Target as well as a food hall that includes a Trader Joe's that isn't overrun by line shopping, and even a Primark for clothing shopping (as well as many other shops). I love hitting up multiple spots after if I catch an early enough movie. 4. The water is still free as always - I recommend asking for a large size as they might give you a smaller cup otherwise. 5. They offer brunch now! I haven't been yet but love that they have it. 6. They offer specials now - i.e. menu items tied to the movie you're seeing like special cocktails or food items. I didn't notice if they had the sangria I used to love from Alamos in Austin but I'll have to look for that next time. One other thing I love about Alamo (besides the no talking or texting policy), is that they have showtimes that are labeled kid-friendly and not as while kids are great, I don't always want lots of them around me in a movie theater as they can be a little more unruly. This is my go-to movie theater. It's clean, it's professional, and has a strict no talking and/or phone use policy. There's a variety of meals and beverages on the menu to choose from. I've had the mozzarella cheese sticks, pizza, and chicken sandwich meal in the past. You really can't go wrong by coming here to see a movie. It's a great experience and they even have an app where you can accumulate points/rewards the more often you come. read more

Have you been to Regal at Union Square? The one with the ear splitting RPX sound system shooting lasers directly into your eardrum? Well, not to be outdone, the Alamo at city point in downtown Brooklyn has a Dolby Atmos decibel busting "louder is better" sound system as well. To add insult to literal injury, you will pay extra for the privilege of assaulting your ear canal. They also don't take Apple Pay if you buy your tickets at the theater avoiding a $2.69 'Convenience Fee' per ticket you are charged when using fandango or any online ticketing, even the Alamo site directly. Still can't get them to go easy on the salt shaker for the bottomless popcorn, but they don't show 30 minutes of ads and previews like AMC, so that's a bonus. read more

On 7/17, I attended the 6:30 PM showing of The Odyssey. It's rare that I submit negative reviews, but after submitting feedback to Alamo TWICE, I have yet to receive any type of response from a very disappointing experience. Our order arrived incomplete, we were missing our chicken tenders and fries. I submitted a request through the in-theater ordering system after 30 min of receiving my first order and requested the missing second order and utensils, but no one responded. I eventually had to leave the theater to ask the kitchen staff for help. the missing food was then eventually delivered at my seat, it still came without utensils. I asked the waiter for utensils (again) and was told someone would bring them. I never received any and had to leave the theater a second time to get them myself. We also never received the waters we ordered. Because of these repeated issues, I spent much of the first hour of the movie dealing with missing items and unfriendly service instead of enjoying the film. I understand mistakes happen, but the lack of follow-through and having to leave the theater twice made for a very frustrating experience. read more

My partner and I decided to do dinner and a movie for Valentine's Day. We usually go to nitehawk movie theater, but he decided he'd like to try somewhere different. Turns out most of the employees were striking. They stated Alamo drafthouse had fired 70 employees across all chains illegally. We felt badly, but decided to go in, it was late and there would have been no opportunity to go to any other theater. Once inside, due to the strikes there was no food being served. Which was a no for me, because I hadn't eaten since breakfast and it was almost 9pm. However, because this theater is located in the city point mall, which has multiple restaurants downstairs. They allowed us to grab food and beverages and bring it in. A huge plus. The theater seemed clean and the staff that was present was very nice and accommodating. Going back would be determined on more research regarding this strike and the validity of the claims. read more

Alamo Drafthouse used to be fun but when I went here last week, not as much as before. I had trouble finding the correct theater - I initially went to the wrong one - there was no one around to help. During the film, there were frequent distractions with too many people walking back and forth in front of the screen, either guests or staff bringing food and drinks. The screen and sound system were fine. I enjoy having extra space to relax. If you can choose a seat, suggest picking one away from the door, fewer distractions. I went once with my husband, and the cinema was clean and comfortable. The attendants were kind and provided good service. The main issue I had was that the bathroom is located in the restaurant upstairs, which is far from the theaters and inconvenient if you need to use the restroom during a movie. Also, the Buffalo chicken wings were extremely salty, which negatively impacted the taste. Reducing the sodium would greatly improve the dish. I would still go again because I enjoyed the atmosphere of the theater and appreciated the service. read more

We saw Wicked and I wish the sound system was a little bit better because the music was amazing and I couldn't get the full sound effect for a movie like this. Alamo Drafthouse Brooklyn is going downhill. Bad ordering system. Worse bathrooms. My husband and I have always loved Alamo Drafthouse. It's pretty much the only movie theater we go to, which is why our experience at the Brooklyn location on May 23 was so disappointing. The new mobile ordering system was a mess. Food and drink refills took forever, and we had to flag down servers more than once to remind them about orders we'd already placed. The delays were distracting and really took away from the movie. The theater wasn't even particularly busy. What really surprised us, though, was the condition of the bathrooms. Both the restrooms near our auditorium and the ones closer to the lobby were shockingly dirty. Like bathrooms at Port Authority, if they were never cleaned. We've always thought of Alamo as the best movie experience around, so this visit was a real letdown. We hope it was just an off night, but it was bad enough that we're honestly reconsidering whether we'll be back. read more

This has been my go-to theater for many years now, and it's only gotten better the last few years since they installed the new nicer reclining seats. The atmosphere is really cool (a nice mix of welcoming-for-all and cool-movie-hipster), they have a very solid local beer list with lots of varieties (not *just* good IPA's, yay!). The food is, well, it's "good movie theater food", but the operative words there are still "movie theater food" - have reasonable expectations. I've been to quite a few movie theaters in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, and this one is probably my favorite over all. read more

I've been an Alamo Drafthouse fan since they opened and have defended the brand for years. After tonight, that loyalty is gone. I went to the Downtown Brooklyn location to see MARTY SUPREME. During the trailers it was immediately obvious that the projection was wrong--noticeably out of focus with severe color bleeding. This wasn't subtle. While waiting to flag it ourselves, we watched another guest already alert a server. When our server came by, he acknowledged the issue and told us he was aware, but claimed it was "probably just the trailers" and wouldn't affect the feature. It absolutely did. Once the film started, the problem was still there. I wrote on an order card that the image was incorrect. A second server came by and told us they were aware, actively working on it, and that we would be refunded or credited with a free movie if it couldn't be fixed. Based on that assurance, we stayed. The issue was never corrected. After the movie, we went to the front desk to ask about the promised rain check. That's when the real Alamo experience began. We were told--flatly--that the server was "wrong," that because we stayed for the movie we were entitled to nothing, and that if we wanted a refund we should have left. We explained that we only stayed because we were told it was being fixed or we'd be refunded. The response? Shrugs, attitude, and a dismissive offer to "get a manager." The manager repeated the same line: no refund, no comp, nothing--except a $10 food voucher. For a movie theater that failed at the single core function of its business: showing a movie correctly. To be clear, this isn't about the money. It's about: A visibly broken projection system Staff giving incorrect and conflicting information Management refusing to honor what their own employees told customers Zero accountability or hospitality While this was happening, other customers were also in the lobby complaining about the screening and asking for management. Then came what I can only describe as the "final boss" manager--who showed up with an aggressive, posturing, confrontational attitude that felt wildly inappropriate for a customer service situation. Loud, defensive, and weirdly hostile. We're talking about a bad projection and poor communication--not a bar fight. Watching management try to intimidate paying customers in the lobby of a movie theater was surreal. Alamo loves to market itself as a premium, hospitality-driven, "cooler" movie experience. What I saw tonight was sloppy operations, poorly trained staff, and management that escalates instead of resolves. If this is the culture being modeled internally, it's no wonder the experience felt so trashy. This could have been solved in 10 seconds: "Sorry this screening wasn't up to snuff. Please come back--next one's on us." Instead, Alamo chose to argue, deflect, and alienate loyal customers. I'm not even that angry about the technical failure--projectors break. I am angry that a company built on hospitality handled it like amateurs and then tried to bully their way out of making it right. If anyone at Alamo corporate still cares about the brand, you should look very closely at what's happening at the Downtown Brooklyn location. Because if this is the standard, you're not a premium theater--you're just another reason people stop going to the movies. read more

Simply watching a movie at this theater has always been a terrific experience. The seats are super comfortable and the ordering process is streamlined. Now, actually having your order card picked up by a server and receiving exactly what you ordered in a timely manner is a different story. Expect a 20 minute wait before your order card is picked up, and your sad and cold plate of food to arrive 30 minutes after that accompanied by the wrong drink. Also, I've been here dozens of times since this theater opened and the bathrooms have been out of order every single time I've gone. (Pro tip: use the mall restrooms in the basement before you arrive.) It's a shame. This theater used to be simply amazing (I would have given it 5 stars 5 years ago) but has gone so far downhill in the past few years I now only come here as a last resort. Hopefully they'll "shake up" the management soon and hire someone who knows what they're doing. Would love to be a customer again! read more

After five straight days of classes, this place feels less like a movie theater and more like a relaxing place where I can truly take a break from school. I love the no talking and no phone policy where I can truly focus on the movie for two hours and don't need to think about anything else. Watching GOAT at Alamo was honestly the best decision of my week. The movie was exciting from beginning to end. The sound was loud and powerful, and during the championship scene, the whole theater felt intense. I felt my body react before my brain and my heart beat so fast. It reminded me of watching esports finals with that moment when everyone was screaming and felt excitement as if we were the one who's on there playing the game. I think everyone would love this sense of excitement, and it's definitely one of the best ways to release pressure.  Another thing about the film is I love how the scenes and different basketball courts were being designed. The animation, the lighting, the characters and background design are all fascinating. Watching it honestly made me think if I should switch my major to concept or game design haha. Five stars. Not just because the cinema is good, but because it gave me two hours where I could fully relax and just enjoy something without stress. read more

a most superb experience. the theater is on the 4th floor of market hall. it makes for a nice warm up into getting to the theater. there are lots of food options if you're hungry before or after the movie though alamo has a wonderful selection of foods, snacks, and drinks so there's no need to eat at the mall unless you want to. There's a small walkway from when you enter the theater area to when staff check your tickets. Wicked 2 merch and the standee signs were up last night. Once checked in we got to our theater room quickly where staff came by to double check our tickets and explained how to order. Our group was large so we each scanned the QR code at our seat to order. Smaller groups can order with staff to be billed on one tab. 4/5 churro popcorn - popular with my group. Everyone wanted some and asked for more through the movie and afterwards. It was more than enough so definitely share this and any of the other popcorns. 3/5 Spicy Ranch Popcorn - my friend ordered this one. our group didn't really like that it was spicy so the churro one was more popular for us. the flavor is true to the name. i thought it was interesting. 5/5 Papa Elf Shake - I love holiday menus. This shake was thick and had lots of candy cane pieces in it. They got the peppermint flavor down well without being too too sweet. I also shared this one with a friend (you can ask to have it split in two straight from the order page!) but kind of wish I had gotten my own. Our orders came out pretty quickly. To order during the movie, you write your order on a piece of paper (can be found on the underside of your desk) then ring the bell and staff will come by. Like the Alamo in downtown manhattan, the seats are leather and they lay back! I got here before the trailers started. The seats didn't look dirty though it is always already a little dim before the movie starts to hard to say for sure. I want to try their other boozy milkshakes. Really cool theater located in City Point on the upper levels. My friends and I have seen many movies here when they came out: Barbie, Wicked, you name it. One thing I want to call out is the variety of films shown here, not just trending and popular movies! Currently, they're having a movie party for Across the Universe! I also appreciated that during the time when Wicked was airing, they offered theaters for sing-along patrons, and those who would like the watch the film as god intended. The theater offers comfortable chairs that recline and have electric foot rests that raise, which are amazing. You fill out a little card with the provided pencils of your order from the menu and the staff quickly and quietly brings you your order. The popcorn, milkshakes and themed movie menu items are fantastic. The only thing from here I didn't really love was their Horchata drink. My favorite movie theater that I remain loyal to! read more

Tried to flag this to a waiter once every 30 minutes. Told us to buzz off and stop bugging them. Everyone else got their food. 90 minutes later they realized they didn't send the order in. My first experience with Alamo was not a good one.... And you know what they say about first impressions! I arrived shortly before the show started but I was the last to arrive to meet others. As I see the guard I was wondering what I needed to show him, but he was more confused than I was. He acted as if there was no movie showing and even after I showed the movie ticket, he still seemed confused. Yet, the two guys behind me just walked in without an issue. I make my way into the theatre and I see they have the paper filled out with the order but they were waiting for me. I told the employee she could fill their order and could return later for me - she instead said she would wait and I just quickly opted for a Philly cheesesteak. It was relatively empty but two other people joined our row and it became a nightmare. They had three people bringing out the items - one person had water, one had popcorn, another had food. They literally bring out each item separately and every time they walked through the aisle, I had to move my legs. I have been to iPic and Nighthawk Cinema and both brought all items, at once. The Philly was okay as was the popcorn. I just think the staff needed to be trained better. The seats were okay, but I've had better, at an AMC, where it was a lesser cost. Another major issue I had was before the movie began they had a bunch of odd promos or whatever you call them. I'm used to just watching previews, but instead it was an extended period of these "promos" Overall, I did not enjoy the movie or the experience, at this theatre. read more

I've been to Alamo a few times and I'm always pretty pleased! The theaters are usually very clean, the seats are very comfortable, and the general ambiance is great. The pre show themed clips are solid. The food is pretty decent. I do tend to eat when I'm there; and while I'm never blown away with the food I've not been disappointed. Do I wish there was a little less walking around during the film? Sure. But, I also am aware that it's the nature of the format and people like to order during the film some time. First off the location is very easy to get too and accessible. The tickets are not badly priced and easy to purchase. The customer service was on point. The ambiance was clean and very well decorated. The food now let me tell you about the food so the menu is at your seat. You get a piece of paper and a pen you write down what you want you press the button and the waiter comes to your seat and just take the paper now the way that I had was on point she did her job. She made sure I had my drink and you get bottomless lemonade for seven dollars so if you have type of person that get thirsty, you are parched or dehydrated. Definitely get the bottomless drinks it was I think two or three more options, but I love lemonade overall it was a good experience and I'm glad that I chose this movie theater and I will go back again. read more

I'm still a huge fan of the Alamo Drafthouse. They've recently made renovations and I'm loving them. The seating and having individual tables are nice. That said, I've noticed that they've removed some menu items like their Omnivore pizza and avocado toast, which makes me sad. Also, I find that they nickel and dime--for example, I'm not vegan but I love their cauliflower bites. I've asked to swap out the vegan ranch for a regular ranch, and they charge me extra. I don't get it--I'm not asking for extra, I just prefer their regular ranch. Anyway, as stated before, I still love them and love it more so with the renovations. read more

Back on 2/20 for the bob marley movie. Service was still on the slow side and my light to alert that I placed an order was not working. Wanted a mule but they didn't have any ginger beer so I went with the bourbon peach smash which was good. The burger patty was bland but the toppings helped. read more

Food and services has gone way downhill! It's sad because this used to be my favorite place to see movies. QR code ordering sucks- food takes forever, and it's always cold or subpar if it even shows up. read more
