The staff is polite and efficient, but I do not like how they package cold and hot in the same bag - the cole slaw with the fries and burger - so the hot food cools and the combination causes condensation which causes the fries and bun to get soggy. I love Culver's and have eaten at many across the country as we travel in our motorhome. We have one night in Champaign, IL and were happy to see a Culver's nearby. However, when we got home and I started to eat my shrimp, something seemed odd. I took a piece over to the light and opened it up and saw that the center was still raw!!! Not good. This can make a person sick. I can only hope I didn't eat enough for that to happen. They appeared to be training a number of new staff members in the order area, but perhaps some focus on the kitchen is in order! read more

I'm from California, and the best way I can describe Culver's is by comparing it to In-N-Out. It's delicious, greasy fast food with a "cult following". I recommend the double deluxe burger (2 patties, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayo) with a side of cheese curds (though the fries are also good) followed by a scoop of the flavor of the day custard. It's very much a Midwestern take on classic burger joint fare. As other reviewers have mentioned, it might seem expensive next to other fast food joints, but I think it's better food than the usual fast food offerings and our local Culvers usually has very generous coupons (2 for 1 burgers is the best) in local papers and mailers, so two of us usually eat for around 13 bucks. Plus, if you follow the link on your receipt and fill out a survey, you can get a free scoop of custard, at least at this Culvers. They have said they honor expired coupons, which is very nice and goes beyond what's necessary in terms of customer service. The servers and cashiers are always friendly and helpful, and very tolerant of us bringing in coupons every week. read more

The only reason I'm even giving them one star is because the food is always yummy. Me and my husband came in here one night at 9pm, one other person in the restaurant. Ordered 2 concrete mixers and some chicken. We received the chicken within 5 minutes and it was hot and delicious. However, it took over 30 minutes for us to receive our ice cream. We had to remind them that we were still waiting 2 times before they finally brought it out to us. This location is always very slow but 30 minutes for 2 concrete mixers??? That's just ridiculous. Oh, Em, Effing, Gee...I cannot believe I hadn't enjoyed this heavenly fast food spot until this weekend. Actually, it is probably best that I hadn't and that there are no such restaurants near me...if so, I would most likely weigh 3 times what I do now. I am not sure what they feed their staff (perhaps drugs?), but they are some of the friendliest fast food workers I've ever encountered. Maybe they are so happy because the food they represent is just that amazing. Or maybe they have kick-ass health insurance...who knows, but it sure is pleasant. Mandi G. assured me that their friendliness was not just a fluke, and it's never anything less than pleasant. I am thoroughly impressed that a major corporation is able to make a teenager smile and, at least appear to, enjoy their job. Butter Burgers...Butter Burgers...Butter Burgers. I want to say it over and over and over again, it's just so fun! Oh, and freaking amazingly tasty too! It was kinda like the cheese in my Butter Cheese Burger was injected into the meat; that's how perfectly gooey it was. Delicious and cheap. I'm impressed by the quality of the ice cream, but I usually only get chocolate so I'm not sure about their flavors of the day. They use real fruit toppings though, as opposed to gross high fructose corn syrup concotions. They also use real meat in the burgers, and they're made to order. The freshness shows. Tends to be my go to place for a price-quality ratio for burgers, however their order accuracy is slipping noticeably as of late. I am clear speaking and very specific when I order, yet i tend to get a burger in a bag now days, good luck after that, what it is topped with has been up in the air. A triple bacon cheese burger is rather expensive to get wrong. The shame of forgetting the bacon, but the shock in tasting the fresh over bearing onions that i definitely did not request sorta ticked me off. Sorry culvers, I'm taking back stars. Just went to your drive thru, it was my very first visit to any Culver's. I was extremely disappointed. Over half the order was wrong, all I wanted was a simple butter burger with cheese. The food is about 3 out 5 honestly, 3.5-4 if you get the right thing maybe. But what really earned my respect was how the staff handled something that could have potentially went very disasterous. I drove over there and was ordering on behalf of my little brother who didn't accompany me. He wanted a bacon delux, fries, and most importantly a cookie dough mixer, and then two chicken sandwiches for myself (taking advantage of a coupon that allowed me to get one free). You can tell it was really stressful for the employees as I came during their prime time at about 7:30 at night. The line was pretty long and they really had to do a lot at one time. Also there was a bit of transaction difficulties as their swipe system didn't work on my card so they had to enter the number manually. Considering how booked they were, my food came pretty quickly, but I absent mindedly thought everything was served in the bag but I didn't get my mixer. That was supposed to come later and I thought it would all come at the same time (yeah, I don't order fast food much). When my brother realized I didn't have the mixer for him, he was not having it. By then it got dark and I really did not feel like driving all the way back for potentially nothing. I was also starving, too, and that did not help with my mood. We decided to call them first, but their number did not work after many calls. After that, we decided to at least eat what we had before it got cold. My brother's bacon burger and fries were fine, especially considering he wasn't there ordering with me to make sure there was no mayo or tomatoes on it (he won't be doing that again!). My chicken sandwich had the opposite problem for me and had no mayo on it, and was pretty bland honestly. I've eaten there before though and blandness is not typically a problem; I think I just ordered the wrong thing. But what was even more than redeeming than our subpar savory was how the staff sweetly accommodated us when when we decided to drive back and claim our mixer. We had the receipt, I remembered I was order number 77, and we even kept our bag with food wrappers. There was luckily much less people and they seemed much more available and on top. Not only did they give us the mixer back in a matter of minutes, but they gave my brother (who accompanied me this time) a mixer one size larger. And when I asked why they didn't answer the phone, it was because they were super swamped, and that's true because I saw how busy they were at 7:30. All in all, I would say 3 stars for the food, 1 star for my luck (also had trouble finding the place because no sign for it on prospect), but 5 stars for the staff and their service! read more
