Wow. We were so full! We tried something different. Ordered the grilled Rueben sandwich with a side of onion rings. The rings were perfectly crisped. The sandwich was very tasty but for this Yelper too greasy. The cheese curds were overly done , not melted like I've had in Wisconsin , The hit parade at this location is the staff. I want to applaud the server/runners. They are happy right smiley kids. I enjoyed watching them like a sideshow, making sure everybody was taken care of in the restaurant. It is clean well managed, and everyone there, including the elders who can be sometimes cranky seem to be very happy. Of course, the very best part of going to Culver's is their shakes. I've been really wanting a strawberry shake, so I went through Culver's and ordered a medium strawberry shake at drive-through. What was delivered was a partially filled cup of thin, strawberry milk - definitely not cold and definitely not the consistency of a milkshake. What an unbelievable rip off. First time in Culver's! My friend and I ordered two double burgers, and I also got a Medium Concrete Mixer. The burger was so good! I've heard its nice taste, and I finally got this chance to sit in and enjoy the food! The dining environment was very comfortable. The serving people here were just amazing. They were so helpful and friendly! They found you with your number on the table, and directly delivered the food to you. They even helped us throw the trash and cleaned the table! Came for the hype and could definitely be down to comeback! If you're a student, bring your student ID for 10% off. I'd say they are a tier above typical fast food! Double Butter Burger - the patties are a little thin but I enjoyed the flavor! One of my favorites now for fast food burgers. I wish I brought my BOGO coupons in the mail. North Atlantic Cod Sandwich - thought the fish was food, didn't like that the shredded cheese was cold. Fries - Crinkle cut, nice and crisp! Enjoyed it with ketchup and honey mustard! Cheese curds - honestly tasted like mozzarella stick, which I don't think is the "typical" cheese curd. If you're trying cheese curds for the first time, this probably isn't the best option for this midwest classic. I will not be getting their cheese curds again. Usually I love culver's but I just got off work and I was very hungry and to my dismay they forgot my TOP BUN OF MY CHICKEN SANDWICH I can't even enjoy my meal now... and they're closed so I can't go back to complain. I give this Culver's, two stars because one of the servers was nice. The rest of the staff was a bunch of bonehead who would not make eye contact and mumbled under their breath when they were taking your order. We ordered butter burgers with everything on them, but when they got there, it only had way too much mustard, mustard, way too much ketchup, pickles, and onions on it. I have been to Culver's all over Wisconsin, Tennessee, Kentucky, and in between. I would not come back to this one. read more

First off, if you get the root beer keep in mind that it foams up like real beer caught me by surprise and then my clumsy ssa dropped the entire soda onto the floor... did the mad scramble to clean up with the napkins that were nearby but then Manny, the angel, showed up with an really cool mop machine and quickly cleaned up what was left (with a smile). The food is excellent, I'm hooked on the Walleye sandwich (ordered extra crispy). The prices are surprisingly affordable (especially for seafood). They hand batter everything to order and still get it out in what feels like record time. Root beer is top notch, the French fries are the crinkle cut and perfectly crisp, and their frozen custards ridiculously tasty. I went through the Culver's drive- through on S. Neil St. at 11:50 AM. I ordered a kid's meal. It came out about 2 minutes later. The custard was already halfway melted. I gave up because it was just too soupy. When I opened the bag, there were no fries. I had to pull in and go inside. They gave me the fries but no apology. I also told them that the custard was melted. The burger was about room temperature, gray and dry. The American cheese was not melted. Why do they continually say "cooked to order" when it is not true. You can't cook a burger from a raw state, put it on a bun and get it out to a car in 2 minutes. That custard had probably already been scooped before I ordered. They were wonderful when they first opened years ago, but no more. Their walleye is great, so I guess I'll wait until next spring to go back. I will never order another burger. read more

The Culver's at U of I was excellent. Burgers and fish were yummy. The fried fish is better than some places that specialize in Fried fish on the east coast. Crispy and not soggy at all. The burger hit the spot. Also, the frozen custard was creamy and a perfect ending to the meal. I was especially surprised by the excellent service and drive thru method at Culver's. You order,pay then park and wait for staff to bring out the food. It was very efficient. This was my first time at Culver's. The selection is mainly burgers, and fried chicken, so not much for the vegetarian and vegan crowd. The food is very "midwestern" so if you are looking for a meal that is really interesting to the taste buds, this likely is not the place. I am not sure why people think the price is that awful. They almost always have coupons in the local advertising magazines. They also offer a student discount if you show your I Card. My dinners of a double burger with fries and a soda often end up being $6-$7 which really isn't far from McDonalds or lesser quality establishments' prices these days. I will admit that the burgers are greasy. The custard is also, well, custard; so it is quite fatty. However, do you really go to a fast food place to be health conscious? It's a culvers in a college town. Service is fine. I've had nicer, more enthusiastic service elsewhere. I ordered a salad with chicken. The breast was hot a juicy, the salad was 90% iceberg. One of our favorite fast food stops. They have the best pot roast sandwich, made with real roast, not the additive-filled roast beef you get at most fast food restaurants. Another hidden gem are their soups. The stuffed green pepper soup is absolutely the best. Unfortunately, this soup is not on the menu daily, maybe 3 to 4 times a week. I go to Culver's once in a while but not too often. They usually have good soups. Today I went through the drive through and ordered George's Chili (although I don't know who George is) and a side salad. The Chili was good but not as good as "Lisa's" Chili. I like their custard, though I'd much rather go to Jarling's for that. The hot food isn't great, and isn't terrible. What it is is overpriced. That said, that's not what keeps me from coming back. What a catastrophic mistake that was!! It was a dripping, greasy mess that was almost impossible to eat. So much of a mess that I needed leave the table immediately to thoroughly wash my hands.
