Great food and service would recommend to anyone in search for a fast food restaurant that still knows how to serve their customers.

I'm not sure what to say after reading all the reviews on here... I'm left wondering... were we in…read morea parallel universe or something‽‽‽ We stopped in after an appointment I'd had on a Monday in Lees Summit. We decided to have a quick early dinner here in town, and did a Yelp search for "great places to eat near me". This place was high in the list. We read the reviews and found ourselves driving around a building that had ZERO markings for the Burn Theory Fire Kitchen on it, but our Maps app said we were here. Turned out, the food for Burn Theory Fire Kitchen was cooked in a food truck in a parking lot and served inside the Diametric Brewing Company which is located at the address listed for Burn Theory Fire Kitchen. I will say, my husband ordered a special beer called "Cherry Street Wheat" and it was very unusual, and seriously tasty!!! I'm not a beer fan, but would drink one of these any day! So, getting back to the food... we'd both ordered a trio of street tacos that we did a mix and match of with their various proteins. We ordered this way to share with each other. We also love to discover new and unusual bites. After reading the reviews and their menu, we were excited for the promise of something uniquely delicious... and were completely disappointed!!! All but one (excluding the shrimp) of the six different tacos we'd ordered, bordered on the inedible side. The proteins were seemingly overcooked, folded into little leathery tortilla shells, and served to our table cold, dry and tough. They tasted as if they had been reheated from the weekends leftovers. Maybe we came on the wrong day. Perhaps if we'd visited on a weekend, or on the same day they were actually cooking the meats initially, we'd had a better experience. I don't know, and frankly do not plan to find out. Additionally, to be fair, their condiments (ie: the Ketchup and BBQ sauce) seemed to be made fresh and made from scratch. They were sadly the best part of our meal. Honorable mention to the Diametric Brewing Company which served us one of the most delicious and unique beers we've ever tasted!

I recently tried the new Burn Theory truck at Strange Days Brewing and wasn't disappointed. There…read moreare several QR codes placed around the brewery for easy ordering. They bring it straight to you when it's done. The guy who brought ours was super nice. He asked if we needed any utensils or sauce. I was just having a beer and then was taking my grub to go so he brought me a bag to carry everything easily. I ordered the Burn Theory Cubano: House smoked ham and pulled pork, melted Swiss cheese, pickles and house made mustard on toasted brioche. This sandwich was huge! It's very shareable if you're ordering sides. The meat was super smoky and I loved the flavor. It's definitely a top 5 Cuban in KC. We ordered several sides: seasoned fries, smoked Mac and cheese, and a Caesar salad. The Caesar salad was good sized and easily shareable as a starter. I liked the house made dressing. If you wanted to have this as an entree, you have the option to add brisket, chicken, or shrimp. I will definitely consider it in the future. The seasoned fries were pretty standard. My boyfriend liked the seasoning and that they didn't put too much on them. My 3 doggos also enjoyed a few. The smoked Mac and cheese was probably my favorite side and I'll have a hard time getting a different one in the future. The Smokey flavor was perfect and not overwhelming. The pasta wasn't overcooked and the sauce was creamy. I end up at Strange Days pretty often and I feel like this is a perfect addition to the area. I'll definitely be ordering from them in the future while I enjoy a beer.

In hindsight, I wish I had…read moreenjoyed the burger at the restaurant rather than drive 5.5 miles to my home to enjoy the sandwich. Although the sandwich was double wrapped in paper, it chilled enough to alter the texture of the grilled bread. Lesson learned! I was pleasantly greeted at the drive through menu and wonder of wonders (!) the communications were clear, quick and easy. I was FURTHER impressed that Angie, the cashier at the window, presented me with a broad smile and welcoming attitude. Pleasant service is always a joy! I failed to see the name tag on the colorfully haired young lady who delivered my to-go bag. She too was exceedingly polite. It must be a great place to work based upon the happy employees! The parking lot is large and the easy to maneuver. The parking lot always spotless - - zero trash to be seen. As to the ambiance? I have nothing to report, as I didn't step foot inside the place. My order #586710 was well enjoyed!!

That's when we spotted the shining beacon of hope: Whataburger. Since we don't have them back home, it was basically a moral obligation to stop. We went classic with burgers, fries, onion rings, a shake, and yes, an apple pie. The jalapeño ranch and spicy ketchup? Game changers. Everything came out hot, fresh, and delicious. The place was super clean and the staff could not have been friendlier. I ordered a small drink, but they were out of cups so they handed me a large instead. Free upgrade? Don't mind if I do. The real hero of the night, though, was the fried apple pie. Crispy outside, molten lava inside, and so good it deserved its own standing ovation. If they sprinkled it with cinnamon sugar, I might have written this review from the afterlife. All in all, it was the perfect ending to a long road trip evening. Whataburger definitely delivered the late-night comfort food magic we needed.
