We met at Café Cà Phê's four-year anniversary. I came around the corner and there they were. We locked eyes. I couldn't believe they were staring right at me. For a brief moment, I thought I heard music. There was a DJ, actually. But that's not how I remember it. I remember the bus. Yellow and black, impossible not to notice. Anime artwork stretched across the side. Go Chew Burger. At the window, someone was waiting who was every bit as inviting as the aroma coming out of that heavenly little bus. I started looking over the menu, and there, winking at me, was the GOCHEW Burger. They mentioned the double patty. I hesitated. "We won't tell anybody." Two patties it was. They also talked me through the kimchi: fresh or charred. They gave me enough information to make me feel like I was making all the decisions. Double patty. Charred kimchi. Loaded fries. I was all in. While I waited, I did what anyone with an infatuation does: research. I learned about Joohae "Chewy" Yoon and what she's trying to do with GOCHEW--take Korean flavors and put them into foods people already know. Burgers. Fries. Familiar food carrying something new. Then the buzzer went off. Time for our first date. No chairs. No tables. Things were getting a little awkward, so we went back to the car. The fries had lost their crispness to the sauces and steam, but I didn't care. The Korean BBQ sauce was sweet and savory, the gochujang brought mild heat, the creamy lime sauce cut through it all, and the bright green chives pulled everything together. Incredible. But the burger? Perfectly crisped edges. Juicy, hot beef. Melted cheese. Charred kimchi bringing sweetness and acidity. Three sauces that somehow never fought for attention. And the bun had a serious responsibility. Two patties. Cheese. Kimchi. Three sauces. Everything depended on it. Spider-Man protects New York and everyone who depends on him. This bun had the same problem. With great power comes great responsibility. And it held. Mostly. The attraction was still there. The infatuation was still there. But they had become something else entirely. Love. This wasn't just a good burger. This is the best smash burger I've had in Kansas City. Chewy set out to make people fall in love with Korean food by putting those flavors into things they already know. I think she got me. read more

Hello Well what can I say! This is a very unique food truck house into a restaurant business. And it looks like it works!! I had the Gochew Burger. American food infused with Korean flavors. The bun was great and the burger quality as well. Great job. It was a slower day and I got the privilege to chat with the Chef and the Owner. Super nice people that care. Keep up the great work. Tasty K-burger and fries in Raytown? Sure! Pleasantly surprised by the fact that this place existed at all in the area. The service was friendly and fast, and the Gochew burger was tasty. The fries were a little too sauced for me, but still very flavorful and yummy. I'd probably get the sauce on the side next time! I saw this place on TikTok and once I found out it was 5min from my house, I definitely needed to check it out! I really like how they transformed a house into a restaurant. The inside was cool because you can just chill and play games with all the games they have available. The staff were super nice which helped make my first experience with Korean American fast food better. Speaking of food.. I got the dumplings and the spicy pork sandwich. The dumplings were good! Not sure what the sauce is, but it was a nice touch. On the sandwich, I wasn't a fan of the slaw but the meat was good. I actually ended up taking the meat from the sandwich and adding it to the fries for a "loaded fries " kind of thing and it was soo good! (They should add a menu item of just fries with pork meat and the sauce) I didn't taste the burger but my husband said it was good. Overall, I'll probably be back. The only thing I didn't like (besides the slaw) was that you had to order outside. Being that the weather is unpredictable, standing out in the cold or the rain wouldn't be ideal. read more

I visited the Raytown location. At first you feel like maybe you got bad directions because it leads you into a neighborhood. But the location is in the back yard of a house and there is plenty of outdoor seating around the food truck. There are also some yard games and lots of board games to enjoy while you wait. The service was outstanding abs since it was my first time I tried the GOCHEW burger and saucy fries. The burger was good and the fried with the sauce has lots of good flavor. After reading the reviews I was really excited to try this food truck. The individual who took my order was very friendly. And they even give you a little pager thingy that alerts you when your food is ready. It did take them quite a while to get the food out. I was at an event and was able to order from two other trucks and I got my items from those before my pager buzzed. So maybe plan on it taking a minute if you visit. I ordered the GoChew burger: 1/3 lb smash burger with Level 1 GOCHEW Sauce. It came with Signature Saucy Fries. Everything had good flavor and I felt like the value was in line with the price point. My big issue was the amount of sauce on the burger and the fries. I didn't find it to be spicy and I liked it but it was just way too much. It made the fries soggy as well as the bun. It was also really messy, which in certain settings isn't bad, but in the middle of a park on a 90+ degree day with limited hand washing facilities, not so much. In the future, I will request any sauce to be on the side. Overall, I liked the concept and the food and will try them again in the future. read more

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it exceeded all expectations. Went with a group of 4, so we got to try both the Smash Burger and the Spicy Pork sandwiches which were stellar. Bacon Smash burger was super messy, but so tasty. If you like spicy stuff, the dishes usually come with level 1 sauce, but you can ask for level 10. The level 10 brings the heat but maintains excellent flavor. Apparently they have a level 20 challenge or something, but I didn't really see what that was about. Lastly, service was great. We love this place! My son told us about this place and so we stopped in. We met the owner and man, she was having to hustle doing everything! The interior storefront is cool, very clean and has a good hangout vibe for teens. And there is a small outdoor space in nicer weather. Nonetheless the sandwiches and loaded fries are sooooo good. An amazing Food truck! I wish we saw more awesome street food in KC. Gochew posted on their Instagram that they would be at Pathlight Brewery in Shawnee and I knew I had to hop in the car and run over. The Kansas-side Breweries never get enough love and so to see a Korean Food Truck come partner with them just warms my heart. Plus the food was everything I wanted. I got the Load Fries with Spicy Pork and I'd put the spicy level on a 1-2 range, but I asked in advance because my heat tolerance is LOW. This has all that gochujang flavor without the burn! The fries were smothered with ground pork, creamy slaw and a signature sauce and they were enough to fill me up. But I know I'll be back to try their burger and the bbq beef at some point! read more

I had the spicy pork sandwich which came with their signature spicy fries and it was great! While it was spicy, for my palate it wasn't overly spicy. The fries were amazing!
