I was pretty excited to find out that a Culver's came to MG, as I'd only been to their WI location. This ButterBurgers chain has been around since' 84, and besides their famous burgers, they have salads, soups, fried chicken, and frozen custard. I had the Culver's Bacon Deluxe, which came with 2 beef patties, two strips of bacon, WI cheese (woot woot!), lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, red onion, and their signature mayo, all on a lightly buttered & toasted bun. The burger itself was quite juicy, but I remember it being a bit more buttery. In all honesty, the main reason why I go to Culver's is for their WI Cheese Curds - made with un-aged yellow and white WI cheddar, these little nuggets are deep-fried golden brown; think of mozzarella sticks, but being oh-so-much better and in nugget/bite-sized form! They are super crispy, and comes with either ranch or marinara (I opt for the ranch). You can do dine-in or do their drive-thru; the staff are super friendly and make sure that your orders are correct. I visited the drive thru of this restaurant and was given my order but discovered it was missing an item I had ordered and paid for. I went back two days later to tell them and was shocked to have the manager refuse to fix the problem and instead call the local police on me. I've never had the police called for a missing item from a drive thru order. The manager needs to be retrained in customer service because all I was asking for was his name after realizing he would not help me. My boyfriend and I decided to dine at this Culver's location for the first time, since they do not have any locations in California, after watching a movie. The food here was fairly good. My boyfriend said that In-N-Out was still better, but I personally don't want to make that comparison yet since I didn't try one of their cheeseburgers. They certainly have a lot more items to offer on their menu, in comparison with In-N-Out. I came here starving after work. I gave it three stars because typically when I think of Culver's I can associate it with hot, fresh food and good service, but this time it wasn't the case. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with fries and BBQ + honey mustard dipping sauces on the side. The chicken was way over-fried and greasy and was cold (as if it was refrigerated and re-heated before being served to me. The fries were also cold and the sauces weren't in my bag even though I paid extra for them. The first time around the drive-thru attendant didn't seem enthused to be helping me at all. Then when I got my bag with the missing sauces and had to drive around again, he seemed as if it was MY fault he forgot my sauce. By the time I discovered my food was gross and cold I had lost my appetite. The worst quality food ive ever ate at a fast food restaurant. I went in and asked for a butter burger i went as far as to eat two bites until I noticed the burger was cold and so i asked for a refund and unsurprising they brought me another cold burger. The patty was the only thing that felt mildly warm while everything else came out the freezer and smacked straight to the middle of the patty. Don't come here, if you want to get better fast food I would rather go to McDonald's where everything is lowest of the lows. Food here is always great, but serve is inconsistent. My cashier today (I was dining in) seemed completely out of it and unaware of what was happening. On god Culver's doesn't even taste like fast food. I think it's kind of alarming how much better Culver's taste than its fast food competitors. It really is a step above in almost every aspect. Their food is nothing short of godly, the buffalo chicken tenders reign supreme for me now. I used to be a fan of the burgers but once I was introduced to the tenders there was no going back. The fries are a solid 9/10 crinkle cut is always a classic. The ice cream set up they have going on is 12/10. They got high quality ice cream with a incredible array of flavors and toppings. It really is beautiful to see, one of the few things you truly love to see in life. They can not compare to McDonald's which provides 4 total ice cream products that are rarely even able to be served cause that damn machine is always broken. Sadly I have to downgrade my evaluation. I was there for lunch and while the food and counter service were excellent, I observed something that made me question the sanitation standards. The guy in this photo wiped three nearby tables (I counted) AND several seat cushions (think: people's butts and poots), AND, worst of all, wiped around the nozzles of the ketchup and soft drink dispensing units. WooHoo! Another Culvers just opened a few blocks from my home! My roomie and I are in heaven. The food at Culvers is ALWAYS good. And the service? Their staff has intensive training and work well with people. And they speak English, unlike a few other local fast food restaurants. It's a smaller Culvers, and the decor is simpler than the one on Mannheim Road, but the food IS extraordinarily GOOD! And that's what counts! You must plan a trip to Culvers at least once in your month. Their Butterburgers and Butterburger baskets (what they're famous for) are very tasty and well-priced. They serve frozen custard ice cream! An astounding flavor every day as well as their "concrete mixers" (Culvers version of the "Blizzard.") It's wheelchair and handicapped accessible, and they will open the doors for you and help you if you're physically challenged. The staff is VERY accommodating in every way! And always say" welcome" and "thanks for coming!" We have waited since the early Spring, and watched them demolish the bank that was on the property and watched them build this. It was worth the wait when they opened a day before Thanksgiving, 2011! read more

The Butterburger joint with frozen custard is finally in the northern outskirts of Chicago. If you have experienced a Culvers before it was probably in Wisconsin or probably on the road somewhere. On a visit by your lonesome, it's pretty much like going to a "big name" burger joint. You walk in and up to their order counter. Here the differences between a Culvers and other burger places are jarring, especially if you are eating your meal on site and not "to go." Culvers is what I call a "half table service" restaurant. They don't take orders at your table. They only deliver your finished order there. What happens after you order at the counter is that you are given a "crime scene incident marker number" for your table. These look just like those plastic inverted "V's" the police use to mark where they found bullets or other evidence at an active crime scene, except at Culvers they are blue instead of yellow. The number matches your order and someone delivers your food accordingly. Where this process fails is when you (and many others) arrive at Culvers as a party of four or more. On the night we were there, that's what happened. Since there are no menus or order takers at the tables, all arriving groups wind up standing in the space in front of the order counter (this also includes "to go" customers). Mainly because that is where the only menu is shown. Contrast this with something like a Steak & Shake, where they offer "full table service," with printed menus and order takers/wait staff for every table. At a Steak & Shake, there is no crowd of people waiting to give their orders and no crime scene numbers on the tables. The burgers here were delicious and the crinkle fries were just fine too. Keep in mind though that all other things (cold beverages, condiments, paper napkins, etc.) for your meal are self service as well. Culver's "half table service" is not a winner idea. If they have personnel for wait staff, let them give me full table service and I'll tip them. At Culvers tipping is not necessary (which I guess is their plan). read more

It's nice they aren't only in the western suburbs anymore(i.e. Franklin Park, Berwyn), or having to take a longer trip into the outer Chicago suburbs to find one. I still wish there was one within the city of Chicago, but this has become my unofficial Culver's since I do occasionally make it out to this area. And those infrequent times when I jones for fast food, I like to skip the other chains(i.e. BK, McD's, etc.) and go straight to Culver's. Service for the most part has been friendly and quick every time I've been to this one, and I love the fact you can order cheese curds here. Darnit, if it wasn't for the fact it's so many months away till the Colby Jack Pub Burger returns to the menu, grrr! When the Rosemont Culvers opened a few years ago, I said I'd be twice the man I am now. Well, this one is even closer to home, so it makes it even more convenient to come here. The place opened up in late fall and is pretty crowded even on a Sunday evening. Located in the mall area near Harlem & Dempster, this place definitely attracts a lot of people. Inside, the art on the walls is much more modern than the seemingly sterile art you see at most fast food places. The tables and booths are very appealing and being at Culvers often makes it seem like it's a friendly place with the service and seating arrangements. OK, so they got the order wrong - in a favorable way. We ordered a single scoop cup with the flavor of the day: Campfire S'mores to be exact, a single turtle sundae and fries. We got a double helping of the S'mores, a 2-scoop turtle sundae and 2 fries! The order was correct on the receipt but I guess they must've been feeling generous on New Year's Day. So now I have yet another flavor of the day calendar to monitor and debate whether the Boston Cream in Rosemont is better than the S'mores in Morton Grove's location on a given day. Great place for frozen custard, cheese curds, and burgers! Fast and friendly service! This location appears to have more employees than other locations. The service is quick and sometimes you get your food as soon as you sit down at your table! They also have staff clean the tables and ask you if you need anything else. Great service! However, at times, it can get very busy and it makes it difficult for seating or to get your drinks. I've been through the drive-thru which is not as quick as dining in. But it may depend on the time/day you go there. Overall, I like coming here to treat myself & my niece (or others) to some frozen custard & cheese curds!!! Culvers, just like Dairy Queen kicked up a notch. The service is extremely friendly, and now that its been open for a while, its not as crowded anymore. They have their own brand of root beer, and their frozen custard is thick, creamy, and delicious. Really like their root beer floats. I'd have to say, however, that their weakest item on the menu are the fries. There's really nothing special or unique about them. What can I say? I really like Culvers. The service is always friendly for every interaction - ordering, receiving the food, and taking the garbage away. The place looks very clean, and there is even a small outdoor area (albeit, facing Dempster). Some people might think the custard is too sweet, but to me, you can't beat a scoop of vanilla custard with crushed oreos. Yum. I usually order a cheeseburger with fries, no onion on the burger, and they have always gotten it correct. I am actually doing a Culver's comparison. Skokie Blvd vs Dempster in Morton Grove- both are relatively the same distance. Hands down-we drive to the Culver's on Dempster in MG. They give a bigger flavor of the day scoop and when we ask for a sample to give to our dog, who has her head out the window, they give a sizable sample in a condiment dish not a little bit on a sample spoon. I've been to many other Culvers locations and this one is much like the others. The main difference is, the space inside is not that big for the amount of customers that are in there. I went on a Sunday and the place was packed. Parking is difficult. Expect to park on the outside lots unless you are lucky enough to snag one of the few spots in the actual Culvers lot. There were plenty of staff members and they moved quickly. The girl we ordered from was particularly friendly. The food was good. I thought my burger was a little undercooked, but no biggie. If you complete a survey that comes with the receipt, you get a credit for a free sundae which is great! Overall good food, but the location and space could be improved upon. read more

I would avoid this Culver's location at all cost. They have lost a loyal customer today. Awful customer service especially from their Hispanic manager at this specific location. My aunt ordered a fish sandwish and what she got was a beef burger. When she asked about it the manger came out yelling at her saying that she said burger not sandwich. After she tried to explain it to him that she pointed at the fish sandwich on the menu and probably said fish burger by accident (which even the cashier acknowledged was what happened) the manager got angry and threw the bag of beef burgers in the garbage and said "I am not making you a fish sandwich, leave the store or I will call the police". It was like I got the bottom of the bag if onion rings and the dish sandwich wasn't crispy and I literally got a mouth full of bones. omigosh...the smell wafting in the air right as you pull into the parking lot..... FRESH MEAT I had a double butterburger here. For some reason (newer, try harder?), I liked the food more at this location than the Rosemont one. The burger had a meatier (?) taste. It was soooooooo good for chain burger. Just remembering it now has my big belly growling. HMMMMMMMM I like the Rosemont burger, I LOVED this burger. I also had a 2 scoop sundae- banana split. The cashier was quite patient with me as he rambled off all my topping choices and I kept saying no and he was incredulous that I wouldnt want that on my sundae (" no whip cream? no caramel?"). I really made up for not having lunch! I am glad I had things to do after this meal because it was a big one and a damn good one. Good thing I cant smell that aroma too often.
