Spicy chicken sandwich with mashed potatoes & gravy! Culvers always has good quality stuff :)
    Eric S.

THE SANDWICHING HOUR You can always count on Culver's for a quality product between the buns. Having twice visited my paternal grandma at nearby Bright Oaks, my mom and I stopped in here on both occasions for a quick meal. I got a bacon deluxe butterburger the first time out, and a spicy chicken sandwich on the following visit. Even though their crinkle-cut french fries are tasty, I almost always substitute them for mashed pototatoes with gravy. Cheese curds are a solid choice, too, and the house root beer hits the spot on a hot summer day. Workers were fine, but they got nothin' on the awesome employees at the Franklin Park location. The girl at the register on my 2nd visit neglected to crack a smile, which seems to be in line with other reviewers. Friendliness maybe isn't the strong suit of this particular Culver's. Of interesting note is the sharps disposal box in the (men's) restroom. I sincerely hope this is for diabetics who need an emergency shot of insulin......not for addicts to slam heroin in the bathroom. Then again, it IS Aurora we're talking about, so who knows. People seem to be hatin' on this location, but my burger & chix sammy were fine. Good stuff as per usual.

Price was surprisingly good for the amount we got. My DH loved the shake. I thought the sundae was good, but OMG that grape slushie was the best thing I've had in ages! I'm going back just for that! I don't even like slushies usually. Think the last time I had one was in Kmart when I was in high school. My only complaint was the stupid people who thought revving their suped up cars and motorcycles in front of the place was the height of entertainment. I know the store can't do anything about that but it was very annoying.

Okay prices with most things within a couple of bucks. There's a few benches and tables. Basic menu of cool treats and hot eats. It's a long time local hangout in spring and summer. The menu has about what one expects with a few interesting additional things. Has some good prices to think about. It's about $2 for a slushie. There's basic flavors like blue raspberry and some more too. It's about $1 for a popsicle. You can get hot food too. Many greasy things like burgers, fries, and hot dogs. The seating area is kind of limited but there's usually enough unless it's packed. For sure it's one of the classic places around here to get ice cream. It's closed Mondays. They're one of those seasonal places that closes in winter.

I was not in the mood to be out so this was a grab n go situation. Food is always top tier in my opinion. We got 2 combo boxes which come with finger tenders, slaw, fries, garlic bread and a drink. The finger tenders are my favorite when it comes to fast food. Cant go wrong from here. Honestly you can't go from with any of the items. Everything goes well together and the garlic bread?! Never skip on it - it's the perfect buttery, fluffy and oh so yummy piece of bread. We got sweet tea and lemonade for our drinks and we both preferred the sweet tea.

Nothing could have prepared me for seeing a Popeye's commercial touting "Pickle Lemonade". That's Lemonade, (a sweet, refreshing, citrus quaff, always welcome) with added pickle flavoring. I like lemonade, I like pickles. But I didn't, in my wildest imagination ever think those twains would meet. Yet, here I am; yes a barking seal, in line at Popeyes-for Chicken? Nay nay, my fine culinary friends. for PICKLE LEMONADE! The girl on the squawker was 1000% unintelligible, Couldn't understand a fucking word she was saying-it DID cross my mind, she was speaking in foreign tongue telling the staff "There's a gringo out here actually ordering the PICKLE LEMONADE!!!!" That exact sentiment was crossing my mind at that exact instant, truth be known. About $3.50 for what looked like a medium drink. I took a sip, and was mildly surprised. It tasted like Lemonade with a dose of the juice from a jar of Claussen cold-pack Kosher Pickles. Actually not bad. Not awful at all. I don't know if I would want this as a regular beverage, but it wasn't a terrible place to visit. Then it hit me: what this needed was A SHOT OF VODKA! Upon my returning to Stately Breakwind Manor, I reached for the emergency small bottle of Tito's I keep (for medicinal purposes only) and added a dram to the beverage-at-hand. BINGO! THIS I would order at a bar. It would rock with a Corned Beef Sammitch. The booze offsets the Dill-Garlic of the pickle juice just enough. If you like 3 olives in your Martini, you'd dig a Lemonpickletini as I have introduced tonight. As I sit here typing this Yelp, I'm actually digging the drink. Another entry ticked off on the Secret Bucket List I am prevented from knowing whats on it...

The problem was that a 3% charge was added due to using a credit card. I don't remember seeing a sign that they do that, but it might have been there. I've stated my objections to this policy in several of my other reviews. It's to the point that, if I see this policy when I go into a business, either I leave or, if I really want to try the product, I pay with cash; in the latter case, it's interesting to note the change in your experience due to knowing up front that this will be your last time with that product. In either case, I don't return because I strongly disagree with the policy - these businesses want the extra business that credit cards enable but they don't want to pay anything for that and they cost you your credit card's cash back on the purchase amount. If this doesn't bother you, then definitely try this place.
