When asked if they did duct work cleaning, they didn't, BUT they referred me to a great company to do it (The Clean Air Co - who were also great). Then they offered their services to clean the fan and coils. I bought a house owned by a former smoker and wanted to eliminate any lingering odors that could be coming from the A/C. Mission accomplished! Other perks - clear communication. On time arrival. Tech was more than helpful, even helped me remove some leftover cat hair from the air intake vent. Tech was so nice and friendly. Person on phone scheduling appointment was super nice, too, and even provided the name of the tech so I would know. All around A+ service. read more

Our blower was communicating signs of imminent death just in time to be taken into the Leonard Cohen blower afterworld under the lunar eclipse of a strawberry moon in Sagittarius. Blake came out and - despite having our unit serviced a few times in the past, discovered a third small, oddly placed and impossibly hidden intake with a filter that hadn't been changed since the 80s!!! I have debilitating autoimmunity and it's been getting progressively worse. I kept thinking our air quality wasn't the best but the other HVAC guys didn't seem to be concerned. Thank G-d our blower failed when the other gents couldn't come out to service the unit. If it hadn't been for Blake noticing a line indicating a third unknown intake and working with me to locate it, then bravely angling into a semi-dangerous position to remove the gnarly filter and close it up, my health problems could have continued to worsen. He's a total sweetheart and went out of his way to get the blower for us before the weekend. I'm super grateful for him and Cumberland. Now if only I could get the Clean Air guys to phone us back to get out ducts cleaned... read more

I call Cumberland Cooling at 9:30am left a message in their answer machine a few minutes after the representative call back, she was pleasant and friendly ask a couple questions and set up an appointment at 11:30-noon and here is when it got better. John came in time super nice and friendly with a big smile in his face and say hello ask a couple questions and find the problem in less then 15 minutes. if you guys ever need help call this guys they are awesome and the costumer service is great. read more

Heating went out overnight so I looked around to find someone to come out. I usually go on Yelp to see what other people are saying, which helps me choose what company to call. I noticed lots of good reviews for Cumberland Cooling so I gave them a call and to my surprise they were able to come out this morning! John was the gentleman who arrived to look at our unit. He encouraged my husband and I to come out (if we want) to look for the problem. Long story short, John is amazing. He showed us what was going on, what did and didn't need to worry about (today) and even offered to show my husband what he was doing. I felt completely comfortable with him and in no way did I feel that he was trying to "pull one over" on me. I just can't say enough about my experience with John and the company. My only complaint is that John doesn't know how to fix everything in and around my house, if he did I'd hire him for that too! Love, Love, Love this company and will forever use them going forward. My air went out on Wednesday afternoon. I searched reviews and found this company. Called them Thursday morning and they arrived at 2. I was really worried because the unit is 11 years old. Just knew it would be something very costly. He worked on it for a little over 1/2 an hour. Came in and told me that it only needed a good cleaning! Did not try to sell me on anything more. Being a relatively new homeowner in the area, I was was reluctant to commit to an HVAC service without researching ratings and recommendations first. Cumberland Cooling had kept popping up as a quality operation along with a few others. So when on a Friday morning I wake up to find my air conditioning system running wide open but my house a balmy 82 degrees inside I decided no was the time to put that research to use. I called two other places and was told they only had appointments around mid day or I'd have to wait till Monday. Unable to take off work I gave Cumberland a call fully expecting to have to swelter through a weekend. The extremely pleasant representative was happy however, to fit me in for an appointment at 4:30 that very afternoon giving me time to get home. Fast forward though a busy day of work and shortly after I get home at 4:30 John from Cumberland arrives and quickly diagnosed the problem; some critter had chewed through our wires leading to the outside unit. We tracked the wire down and he ran new ones through our basement dungeon/crawlspace/openpitmine even taking the time to make it look neat and keep it out of the way. Within an hour my unwanted weekend sweat lodge retreat was well on its way back to cooling down to civilized temperatures. Without prompting he also took the time to inspect the rest of my system, give the outside unit a quick once over and all for an extremely reasonable fee (they take cash, check, or credit card) I could note have been more pleased with the outcome of this day. I don't typically leave Yelp reviews, but if I get exceptional service at a decent price and see they don't have too much online feedback I try to leave one. Cumberland Cooling deserves all five stars after our heater went out on a Friday night with a few cold days approaching. John and (I believe) Ezra were both very helpful in diagnosing then eventually fixing the problem. They walked me through what they thought was wrong and how much that cost. But they also laid out what else might be wrong if their hunch was wrong and laid out what that would cost. They took their time explaining everything to me and were very helpful. Although it set me back $250, they spent about three to four hours in my attic doing some serious rewiring to fix a problem, so I thought it was more than fair. read more

I chose Cumberland Cooling solely based on proximity considering they were about a mile away from my house. John Mark was the one who came by my house to help diagnose my issue. The guy was incredibly helpful in figuring out my problem, explaining the condition and the possible fixes. After he resolved the issue he came by 30 days later to run follow up diagnostics free of charge. Ditto to all the other 5 star reviews. This definitely the company I'll be calling from now on. After the first two ridiculously hot weeks of the summer, our upstairs unit started making a hissing noise inside the wall that i hadnt noticed before. I thought there may be some kind of tear or leak in the duct work so I emailed Cumberland with some times that I was free and someone would be home during the week. I spoke to John the following day, and he said he would have someone come by after I got off work that day. A few hours later, I got a voicemail (and then a text) from Blake, who said that he was scheduled to come out at 5:30, but had something open up and was free about 90 minutes early. I couldnt meet him early, but still ... 10+ bonus points for being proactive. After I got off work, Blake arrived at 5:30 ... i.e. on time. Another 10+ bonus points. He then walked all around the inside and out of our house, trying to figure out what the noise could be. His suspicion was that this particular unit happens to make a hissing noise when it get super hot outside (and in the attic) and that there wasnt actually a leak or tear; plus, he thought that the piping from the attic might be flush up against the sheet rock inside the wall, which was amplifying the noise. When he went outside to pressure test the machine, he saw that our unit has child locks on the pressure gauges and require a specific tool to unlock. It just so happened that on this day Blake drove a different truck and didnt have the key. But he called John, who was around the corner, and brought them by ... seriously, after Blake hung up the phone, John was there in about 2 minutes. 50+ bonus points. Blake tested everything and said it was running perfectly. He suggested to keep an eye on it to see if the noise decreased when the temp in the attic dropped by about 10-15 degrees. He was here for over an hour, and didn't charge me for the visit. 100+ bonus points. I havent even paid for any of Cumberland's services yet, but am a customer for life now.
